Thier use: No way a Ranger would haul 6500kg, especially with the same pace etc. make a lot more sence than a camper van, and can be used for more than just one activity, and a bigger home. Also Mobile offices and work stations. Medium size diggers etc. None of which you would tow with any current pickup, you would need an Atlas, Elf or Canter. do you call those oversize and obnoxious when they are the same thing, one just with 4 seats and an american badge on the front, i think not. I highly doubt anyone here would by one to replace the Prado etc as a pasenger only vehicle. this -

Saw a Silverado Dually, crew cab long tray parked outside the BNZ near me today. Essentially the same vehcile Look very cool, and they do have thier use in the USA, but i think they are unnecessary here. We have no need for passenger vehicle that big. Trucks that are that big and larger have professionally trained drivers, I am not looking forward to meeting one of these RAMs coming the other way on the open road taking up both sides of the road. -

No, not really. you would have to deregister it and register it again, but even then, would probably have to be the same as original. The only way i am aware of doing it while keeping it legal is if the details on the tag is incorrect, which you will need someone in the industry to sign it off, eg classic car club chairman etc. i looked at doing this for my car about 5 or 6 years ago, but decided it was too much paper work to be worth it. My "550i" still has 520i on the tag so i guess it just looks like a POS with a bodykit, which is probably good from a theft point of view. i see no problem with this, i will bring my bosch grinder up next time i come through (supposed to be there tomorrow, also to get that E38 stuff from you, but lost the contract thatwould pay the gas arrgghh) -

In my case I done the math, it's cheaper take parking tickets a couple a month, cheaper to pay the fine than put $2 in the meter every time I park for 15 20 mins. Take from that what you will. Tho I avoid handicap 95% of the time, and pick and choose the yellow lines ones, some yellow lines are just silly

yeah cheers guys! i guess those of you that have got the tech2 ones, install will be pretty similar. however you wont have so much material on the bottom of your tech2 valence. Was thinking about this today, and i suspect what you will want to do is mount it onto a standard facelift lip (which should be mounted underneath the valance anyway, hidden from view). just dont know how it will hold up hard against the tech2. the tech2 valance comes down about the same amount as a standard lip, iS lip hangs much lower. one of you guys that is doing the tech2 install could note any variations, or make another thread if totally different, would be great! Okay so you guys will have seen Johns thread selling the iS lips. http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/52437-is-mtech2-e30-front-splitters/ I was in the very first batch, and got mine yesterday. had had a few cans so thought it was better to wait till today to install. Today couldnt have gone any longer at work, just couldnt wait to get home!!!!!! Anyways, lets get into it Open the box and take it out at least a few hours before you want to install it, and lay it out flat, probably want something on it to make it flat The screws that come supplied are woefully inadequate, these come with them from the USA, and not johns fault! chuck these in the bin. Go to Mitre10 Mega, and pick up the following: - 10x M4 bolts, at least 15mm long, i found a packet was cheapest - 10x M4 nuts, you could use regular ones, i used Nyloc type, dont want it coming loose, and there is no way you would know. Mitre10 part number is 198006 - 20x washers, they are called Fender washers, a suitable size in M4 they didnt have, but they had M5/3/16" type which have worked very well. Mitre10 part number is 901484. these washers are probably not compulsory, and at a dollar a piece, you make your own decision. the lip and the splitter are acrylic and either plastic or fibreglass, so might as well. will take one knock and the heads will pull through. washers are good idea okay once back in the shed, first step is to put on the Mighty Car Mods album on. you should only need it once with the lip on the car already, sit the splitter underneath, and decide how far out you want the splitter. if you use the manufacturer holes, it sticks out a hell of a long way. Personal preferance i guess, but i didnt want a snow plow, or trip over the car every time i walked around the front. take the lip off, put it on the bench upside down, and site the splitter on it, at the same spot. measure out where you will be wanting your holes, they need to be in the center of the lip itself I decided they needed to be 20mm forward of the predrilled holes can be drilled roughly 20mm, doesnt need to be toooooo accurate. drill some pilot holes with a 2mm bit. remember you are working with acrylic, you want to be carefull or it may crack. you are drilling only into the splitter at the moment. then use a 4mm bit and open them up to the size you need for your bolts. M4 = 4mm if you didnt already know. Do this for all the holes that you want to use then upside down with the lip again, and clamp it in place. i used a normal g clamp and a vice grips, just what i had available. make sure the lip is on straight, and sticking out the amount that you want. once you got that sussed, drill your first hole, through the splitter and into the lip with your 4mm bit. the one you want to start with is the very middle one, to lock in your decision how far out you want the splitter. Then put a bolt through with a washer, and put another washer and a nylock on. it it isnt clear, you will want the head of the bolt pointing at the ground after the splitter is on the car. Cool! nearly done! easy eh! should be onto the 4th song in the album about now! make sure your splitter is still lined up correctly on the lip and straight!! next drill the holes on either side of the middle one, and then bolt it in, working your way to the outside. dont work from the other side and come in, because you dont want a warp/wave in the acrylic. at this point, hopefully you are just about done, and, needent do this next step. you may choose to do it anyay.. on mine the very edges (by where the tyres will be), it wasnt sitting against the lip, and had a bit of a wave here too. drill a pilot hole with your 2mm, and then with your 4mm. for this nut and bolt, you do not want a washer of course. this bolt is really only to keep it tight up, will do nothing to contribute to strength because of location. now the last step may or may not need to be done. if you have it mounted all the way out, you should have no excess splitter back here.if you mounted it further back, you will need to trim this, either with a hack saw, or get the grinder out like i do. all nicely trimmed! there, you are done!! should look something like this and a couple of pictures on my cabby. you will have to wait for some better ones at hard park on sunday. its raining here so dont want to put the car outside

yeah "keeping the family together" friendly. But for what it is, reasonably competitive? hey look at least he is honest about it, rather than all the other shady sellers, that 318i/M3 E36 springs to mind etc.

That is correct, used to be owned by Mark 1Rotty. It had its original M20B25 pulled out and stroked while in christchurch, was a very poor build as it later turned out. Mark brought it and swapped the engines between his AC Schnitzer S3 and this car, so this car was back to an M20B25, made an appearance at one of the Bimmersport Trackdays, and then he sold it on. For interestes sake (not relevant to this thread) the original engine from this car is been rebuilt again after the so called 2,7 build lasted about 5 minutes, and was removed again, rebuilt properly and stroked further to 2.8L and is still in Marks E30 S3.

from where i am sitting i would agree with you, and seems to have been that way for a long time. A mercedes buyer is probably always going to be a mercedes. BMW and Audi much more likely to cross over, they are more sports focused, or at least marketed that way

I quite like the "old" current C class, a 'special friend' had one on finance, was the 1800cc (or so i assume) version, might have been diesel too now i think about it. wasnt quick by any means but inside and out was very good, and drove very well. not sure what repair bills would be like on a non-AMG one, but probably reasonable. Suited her so i guess thats all that matters lol I would rock a new Merc over a new BMW any day of the week, but i would still buy a new Audi, they are the only one that is consitently getting it right. Largely due to thier grill design suiting the flatter nose i guess

yep they have that here, and thats how swann works. The key thing is Swann is designed for those cars NOT daily driven. 25 years old is the change over between thier modern classic policy and thier classis policy. Classis appears to be anything over 25 years old, and not daily driven. My E30 has just changed over policies (interestingly same price, appears to be little more than marketing). on both, they are a little bit lenient on the mods, but it depends what kind of mods, and the reason they were done. Eg, my E34 V12 wagon is as cool as my E30, but a very different car with a different focus, and very modified, they are not interested. Maybe when its 25 years old they may be. As for the modern classic policy, it is for cars that are unlikely to go out of fashion etc. Eg they will cover convertibles and coupes, also M3, AMG etc. But they arent going to cover a 318i with schnitzer badges or a little 1 series hatchback. not to mention they are daily driven anyways most likely.
