  1. if you are replacing the water pump at the same time, go right ahead doing it the wrong way by wacking it. doing so will damage the bearings in the water pump, possibly snap off impeller etc been down that road but using proper tool, it is possible to change fan clutch without replacing waterpump.
  2. dont think hiding is the right word. sheild maybe. haha yea did you see top gear last night? they had a little scetch thing about that. Its a case of equalising the impact, $200 fine for someone with $150 disposble income that week, is a lot more than someone with $1500 or $15000 disposable income. Hence why i support the lowering of fines and increase of demerit points, not for myself of course, but as a country, its a better policy.
  3. 325i, not sure on kms, dont generally start wearing untill 400-500 unless you are doing stupid sh*t which this one isnt. Yep no evidence of leaking more questions the better
  4. can do the diff in that ratio, but no axles sorry. $350 to your door
  5. lol even my dinosaur engine doesnt use anything Glenn, if you dont mind sharing what actually causes the problem in these engines? can "it" be bypassed or fixed? or one of those things in the design and not possible or economic to fix. One of my mates mom has a compact with that engine in it and seems to run very wheel, but its a diamond amoungst coal it seems!
  6. ok ill take it if you dont mind shipping. send me a PM when you get a chance! Andy
  7. I am thoroughly enjoying mine and its just a 728i. many would argue its the best 7 to own, great looks before they started looking wierd, yet still not too much electronic wizardry to fail. very nice to drive. Personal preferance probably, but i think the SWB is the better looker
  8. tempting for my cabby, but if i use this do i need to change subframe bushings as well? they are OEM, as is diff, but diff one showing its age and likely to fail soon now its manual
  9. looks like the same setup as E32/E34 as expected, totally different beasts with a front overhaul. I wonder if it uses E32 or E34 track width, do you know if the forward control arms are in the inner or outer holes on the subframe?
  10. damn you could have used my spare pair, but sold last week.
  11. can be made to fit easy enough, you will just need to roll the gaurds a wee bit, would look very good and agresive. lots of people rock 5 series wheels on E36 and E46. you will need some hub rings though to adapt the larger E39 centerbore down to E46.
  12. Might as well put them in. there is definately room in an E34 for cats, and most markets did have them. some early NZ examples didnt because of the leaded fuel that was in use at the time. the last ones do have cats
  13. I agree, getting really nice! so thats a Z3 shifter in it, hmm
  14. I cant remember if it was because of the year of the body or the year of the engine. But I needed to install cats in my M52B28 E30, was a 1990 E30 320i (so older). All M52B28 equipped cars had cats from new. just google, all the info is there. old links are fine for this sort of thing, requirements never go "backwards" you will need driveshaft hoops too
  15. My E38 is longer than my Hiace, and its just the SWB. I struggle fitting the hiace into holes some times LWB is madness if you work and/or play in a city
  16. yeah E34 are very good cars. Most 520i end up engine swapped sooner or later, mine more than doubled in size.
  17. i pulled just short of 200kg out of my compact. interior, sound deadening, airbags etc. sound deadening definately the heaviest stuff! some of that has been added back with a bigger diff and engine though, although the manual box is lighter than an auto.....
  18. cool, i will have left auckland by then so i shouldnt get hit
  19. It is good to remember that NZ Consumer Law is not relevant here, so any arguement for or against is moot anyways. UPS and USPS are two different companies. I always use FedEx when I get the choice. the only company where it stays with the one company right from start to finish, and none of this he said she said bullshit. I cannot stand SOEs Thread closed, no extra information is to be gained by this thread.
  20. Yeah Blair found that out the hard way! In that case, nothing really. My E30 and E34 alternate all the time, havent driven my E34 since September when the WOF ran out, havent done a thing other than start ocassionally, and keep battery charged up
  21. 750iL as per auction, great upgrade for E30s you know the drill http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=847720489
  22. the law in NZ, if you organised your own shipping you would have to wear it. if the seller organises it, it is thier problem. The freight company is in a contract with the entity who initiated it. you are not paying freight company directly. you are paying supplier for the goods, and to organise shipping. This should extend to overseas, however I dont know for sure. but as i see it, ECS are in a contract with USPS to deliver the goods. If USPS dont, the seller is likely to be required to find out situation etc.
