BMW lead investigation into vehicular hydrogen storage systems
lord_jagganath replied to gjm's topic in News
all these ideas are grand, but it requires a "big" government that is not beholden to boards of publicly traded companies, nor can it operate like one. the notion that everything must be done for profit has resulted in the mire we find ourselves in. -

surprisingly, there was supposed to have been a biomethane production plant at an old pig farm in taupiri, but I guess a lot of plans got scuppered in the last 10 years by NIMBYs -

BMW has been burning Hydrogen since 1984 and using it in FCEV since 2006, the only real stumbling blocks are, as has always been the case, were production and sufficiently robust storage. even the best tanks in 2006 needed to vent ever so often as it became gas at a tap. -
with respect to the clear, I actually used this https://www.supercheapauto.co.nz/p/export-export-aerosol-paint---enamel-clear---250g/2717.html seems to hold up.

the Rain-X or Turtle wax kits seem to work fine on some cars, but on a car that I didn't want to spend any money on (a 2001 Airtrek), I got some toothpaste, extra baking soda, and some kitchen polish powder and went to town on the lenses, washed it off, dried it with a hair dryer and sprayed 2-3 2k automotive clear coats on it, and it is still good, a year and a half on.

if i am not mistaken ,weren't E-tune tiptronics tuned by Porsche? Edit: I was mistaken, it was the Blitzen being done by Porsche Design cosmetically.

Maybe for diesel, considering the KMs you do, a Skoda may actually be worth checking out? when I last DD'd VW Group diesel, it barely warmed up, but that was me and my 34km round trip, you may actually make it make sense. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/skoda/octavia/listing/3416185636?bof=qJwblWO1 https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/skoda/octavia/listing/3342143930?bof=qJwblWO1

https://www.mbie.govt.nz/building-and-energy/energy-and-natural-resources/energy-statistics-and-modelling/energy-statistics/electricity-statistics/ you are roughly accurate, also Manapouri hydropower is about 5GWh per annum, which is distorts the figure, as it supplies 15% of the country's hydro power to a single south island source. personally, i do not mind running the activehybrid5 as a daily, even though I feed it 150 dollars of 100plus fuel every 3-4 weeks (depending on usage load, the more social I am, the fewer weeks)

Thanks for the offer Olaf, I will take you up on that, will have to deal outside of Ebay GSP and their funny rules.

have had 3 separate overseas orders declined by origin customs after being shipped for various untold reasons from Ebay (USA), Trademe(OZ), and Ebay (UK) , what the heck is going on? all I ordered was a Quartz Watch, a Dyson cleaning head, and a used head unit for my Pug? WRRRRYYYYY AUGH.

Bimmer unrelated but just driving the old French girl to work with the windows and sunroof cracked open and playing early 80s muzak makes it really feel all right.

Goddam business rival (of sorts) keeps calling me up to get a price for an item that only my company supply for this particular industry, shamelessly. he want to do it for a customer, but I know for a fact he will steal it and replicate it somehow. this is the one item that we do not want others to copy. how should I tell him to bugger off? :sigh: I can only say I don't know much about it ( but it is a lie and he knows it lol)
