Took the m62b44 block, heads, pistons and crank into Taylor Automotive to be thoroughly checked before I start the engine build.

Is it true that running spacers is illegal without a cert, and that an insurance company can deny a claim on this basis?

Just done a bit of research on magnetic sump plugs, and some people in the US have experienced problems with the more powerful ones knocking out the balance of the engine. One guy even had a rod go through the block. -
Not sure if you are having a laugh, but I trust your advice so wont use magnetic sump plugs if thats what you recommend.

Hey Glenn, thanx for the informed feedback. I have a m54b22 with 130k that has been well maintained while I've owned the car, and a m54b25 with 200k that has been well maintained while I've owned the car, do you recommend against using magnetic sump plugs in these cases? Neither car is showing signs of engine problems.

You will be able to get them locally, but maybe they will need to order them in from overseas. They will be much more expensive locally too.

Are you increasing the compression ratio? Thats cheap hp.
