Is This Where The E30 Market Is Now..?
Olaf replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in TradeMe discussions
I had the opportunity, prioritising expenditure on other parts of the car right now. -
"Provided a resolution". GARDX are paying you off? Auckland City BMW are buying the car back from you? They're transferring the warranty, and in six months they'll skin you for a re-application? Come on man, don't be so cryptic.

Mate, you were nearly there! Like mine, the M42 conversion is on the cards for next year along with exhaust, LSD, purple tag, and then cert. The only other thing for iS replica in my case is interior - may have to make do with just upholstery rebuild. One step at a time eh? -

congrats Chris @slideways, good selling. To think people were laughing at me a year ago talking $7-8k for a 316i faccy manual coupe 😉 Looks tidy, got more pics you'd care to share? I missed your listing. Had you done much to it? -
Yeah welcome to Bimmersport @SteveJx. You should post in new members and introduce yourself. Your principal issue is not with GARDX, but with Auckland City BMW. They made a promise and haven't delivered. Get them to pay for the cost of GARDX, as it was a selling point. Still, gotta laugh at GARDX suggesting you pay for the whole thing again. What a have.

"schmee again. torda tolja ta gahngetfahked". on a more serious note, was the ad about that new wheel? I couldn't tell. I liked the ad, thought it was all style over substance. plenty of fun though.

this stuff really is sh*t-hot.
-
That's *very* dodgy. I'd be rejecting the car if there remains any option to, but you may be happy to ride it out. I hope you get a satisfactory outcome. Is the transmission issue related to the accident?

03 December 2020. 180754kms 1. Four Wheel Alignment Jon had noticed the fronts were a little feathered, I may have been running a couple of PSI under. Recommended alignment. Turns out it was: Toe a little out on the front right Camber a little out on the rear left Toe a quite out on rear right 2. All four wheels balanced I'd noticed a little wobble. Time for a tickle up on the machine. 5,578kms since they were mounted. I find ~5000kms is the right time for rebalance. Two were find, the other two: Front left 10g out Rear right 10g out. Happy days. Just needs a good clean and she’s ready for summer roadies. Summer. Better do the windscreen with Rain-X, eh?! Next steps: Serpentine belt tensioner and pulley Valve cover gaskets PDR for a couple of pin dents Sort out the headlight fading Give it a thorough clean, including clean and condition the leather Consider plan for rear thrust arms (upper and lower).

You’re preaching to the choir, mate! I like the e36, I recall them when they were new, and have always liked them. Getting hard to find a good one. Nostalgia freaks head to e30, drifters choose e36, e46 attracts everyone else (who doesn’t want something ‘new’), leaving the e36 is the ignored middle child. Must be some fine bargains out there.
-
You'd hang onto it because you love it, not because the e36 is about to turn into the undiscovered classic.

good bstard award right there!

Stock ride height E92 Msport N54...
Olaf replied to jon dee's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
in e60 land that's certainly not the case. -
oh I'm used to oil leaks; I've run an M54 for 8.5 years. Given one would expect them to have been replaced 2.5 years ago, they should last ~5 years in a BMW?

Why would you buy Bilstein B4s instead of Sachs OEM? For e60's, Sachs have alloy housings, B4's are steel... price is within about $5 each. -
27 November 2020. 180622kms 1. Annual Service to keep current for MBI. Oil & Filter (Penrite HPR5 & Hengst filter) Brake fluid flush & pressure bleed Genuine BMW coolant and demineralised water (I do annual as a precaution on N62 coolant tube) Removed cabin filters, wash filter boxes; vacuum out debris; remove & clean drains. Reassembled with new cabin filter. Checked sunroof drains front and rear Replaced air filter Checked belts, hoses, underbonnet fluid levels. Lubed boot lid and bonnet hinges Replaced wiper blades Tyre pressures checked (nail removed left rear tyre). Scanned and reset service items. The craftsman's workshop, Auto 38 in Newtown! I've only done 3583kms in this car in the last year. Between Covid, lockdown etc, there hasn't been as much need or opportunity for use. It still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Next steps: Give it a damned good clean, clay, wax. Sort out the headlamp lens fogging - it's come back after a year Replace serpentine tensioner and pulley Replace rocker cover gaskets. They're starting to leak again, wondering if they were actually replaced when the valve stem seals were done at 166699kms in Apr 2018.🙄 One wouldn't expect these to fail in just 2.5 years. It's worth noting that oil consumption is ~0 since the valve stem seals were done.

Hi Simon, I bought those e60 wheels from you a while back. I also recommend Jon at Auto38 in Newtown. Best in Wellington region. https://www.auto38bmspecialist.com

cool keyring! I've bought THREE keys at retail from Winger BMW and never received a keyring.

Yes it is tempting, though the last thing I need right now is a risk-filled BMW of unknowns. I have a few with their known, I think that’s enough for me. it is a potential good buy, assuming it’s had a reasonable level of maintenance. More likely it’ll need $1-2k of parts, to address deferred maintenance.

@Cale your touring's no slouch! very sharp ?

"$8k is as low as you'll go? Well, good for you. It won't be with my money. My offer is now $7k, it's realistic and takes into account the damage and repair work. If you come back to me tomorrow, it's $6500. Over to you."
