  1. I don't plan to buy any time in the near future but my next car will almost certainly be electric as fossil fuels are going the way of the dinosaurs. I might keep my weekend toy for a while though. If I was buying now I would probably just get a cheap petrol car to last a year or two as I think we'll start to see cool stuff then. I live in a city which isn't a complete disaster from a transport perspective and also have very little need to commute or travel more than a few km's at a time. I encourage everyone that can to move out of Auckland and work remotely. Auto manufacturers are coming up with some real next generation cars these days.
  2. PS4S on the rear of my car have worn through the belts at 20k. So yeah 18k isn't far off the mark. Fronts probably have another 15k in them though. I'm grabbing some Atturo AZ850s once the shop open again, $600 for two fitted vs $1300 for Hankooks and moon beams for anything else. Will report back.
  3. Maybe if you were doing 20k per year on them. Better off getting a cheaper fresh tyre though.
  4. Yeah RS4 or C63 are newer, better, cheaper.
  5. Yes but the 335i had the N55 instead of B58.
  6. If I was after a boring car, this one would be real nice. Great color, interior and B58. If only it was a 540i https://www.trademe.co.nz/3381569364
  7. Yeah i'm not sure that's fixable... I think there's more air than chassis left and what's left would dissolve in a cup of tea like a super wine if you tried to clean it.
  8. Not that many. I would hazard a guess at 1 in 20 being manual for 335is Much more 135i manuals out there. Transmission isn't weak.
  9. Sadly, the country is full of the people that haunt trade me.
  10. Probably an E60/61 at the moment. Big enough to fit the kids and they look better than the other models of their generation. Would go 550i if it wasn't for the valve issues. Probably a facelift 530i would be the go. Although, a tiny tiny bit over $10k nets you a F10/F11 528i. As a utility vehicle I would get one of those.
  11. Hankook S1 Evo 3. Haven't heard bad things about RE003s but haven't tried them myself... Grab some Laufenn LK03 if on a budget.
  12. Yep I'm binning the PS4S next time and going with Hankook. Also used Penrite 10w60 in my M5.
  13. Yeah, could make a cool car out of it but better off with a M5.
  14. Penrite 10w60.
  15. Yeah I am not sure if it's something to be proud of? I had one E60 M5 and I occasionally miss it but I'd rather have 10 different cars. But each to their own, good for you.
  16. Tracking and hydroplaning would be my biggest concerns, plus you save a few bucks buying the smaller front tyres.

    Black Car Care

Nice, your pics show the effect a bit better. It doesn't fix everything but it does a damn good job of hiding it.
  18. Having a black car is a pain at the best of times and I have had too many of them. But my current has the additional issue of road rash everywhere under the half way line as everything gets picked up and smashed all over the side of the car with parts of the car in the line of fire looking grey, it's that bad. It has annoyed me for quite some time as it looks nasty up close or in full daylight. So I thought I would give a black car polish a try and purchased Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Black Liquid Polish. I gave it a go today and damn, the results are fantastic. You can almost forget the rash is there anymore! Results speak for themselves but additional benefits over amazing rash coverage: Easy to moderate effort to apply and remove. Cheap. Cost me $20 as it was on special, and I got a voucher. Good slickness. Good shine and depth. Doesn't dust white or leave white residue like a lot of other polishes, which is super annoying on a black car. Can be used on black plastic trim, it restored my mirror arms to black from the grey they were. Will see how long it holds up and I might go over it with Meguiars ceramic wax one day, or I might just use this alone, or team it with the Turtle spray wax. There's probably better products for depth and slickness but for what it has achieved in my scenario it gets a solid A. I'd recommend to anyone with a black car.
  19. Ah, true, not that I am aware.
  20. I think 300hp would be enough to have a balanced drive. Any more would start to become too fast for a fun NZ countryside outing.
  21. Wowsers. I don't so much care for the wide body but the rest is sweet. https://www.sundaydrive.co.nz/vehicle/1989-BMW-3/6605?s=1
  22. Looks nice to me. Throw a warranty on it and go for gold.
