Put my ST XA coilovers on today... went well - really stoked, so much flatter and more responsive through corners and WAY happier changing direction, no rubbing and rides pretty good too - firm but well damped (in middle of adjustable damping range at the moment). Might do a little more fine tuning in the next week then its alignment and cert time. Is about 325-330mmmm hub to arch all-round which is a good balance between looks and (relative) practicality I think. Was thinking of rolling rear gaurds and getting a 10mm spacer on there for a little more thicc before cert but given its not rubbing may just leave it. Bonus pic - new Piano black trims installed - loving them.

Correct (it was inspected by AA on arrival to NZ but that was months earlier) , made the error of assuming dealer would have to sort immediate issues and the mechanical warranty would handle anything down the line, which is true, but didn't factor on the massive pain in the arse it would be. Lesson learnt!

This is exactly my experience. Hoping with them giving us a nice loan car now they will be motivated to sort properly and quickly.
-
FYI - I've done just that and they so happen to have another A5 (Turbo DSG) so will not give it back until ours is perfect ?
-
Cheers mate, yeah, have given them a few options / ultimatums ?
-
Thing with the car is its minor niggles but this dealer experience to fix what should have bene less than a day in a knowledgeable shop is making us want to just cut ties, take the hit and move on.... Maybe that's their strategy haha!

@M3AN No, just a little pokey car yard in Penrose... Haha, trying to talk her into an E92 / E82 / F22 now - she loves the Audi though for some reason ?

Update on the POS: Got back from dealer who has had it for 2 and a half leaks fixing: Chronic oil leak Oxygen sensors and corresponding CEL Passenger door not unlocking Passenger mirror not adjusting (gave up on this in the end as they couldn't fix and wife just wanted car back) Anyways, picked it up and now have noticed: Car was filthy and covered in some kind of fallout / overspray - wouldn't polish off, had to get off with a claybar Now the drivers keyless entry not working Now windows don't lower with a long press of unlock on remote Car appears to still be leaking oil Completely exasperated with this and the wife is understandably out for blood. Not sure what our next steps are TBH - dealer has had the car a total of 3.5 weeks and fixed nothing and created new issues.

I agree - have a reasonably well specced 2014 15" MBP (2.8 Quad i7 / 512GB SSD) and with a new battery I bought used a couple of years ago and it still feels fantastic, running latest OSX. Resale is always strong too.

iPhone 12 Pro Max on the way, typing this on a Macbook Pro ? What can I say, I like handsome computers, car doors that thud when they close and soft touch interior plastics ?

I'm an Aucklander but have done 3-4 pretty good SI Road trips in the last 10 years and just did another 10 day one in September (sadly in a rental RAV4). This time around we flew into CHC, then did the below: Drove across Arthurs pass (fantastic) Stayed in Punakaiki (not as cool as I remembered but neat if you have not been there - the coast up there is beautiful and wild) Drove down West coast and stayed at Fox Glacier (again, not as cool as I remembered, a lot of highway driving really) Stopped in to the Blue Pools past Haast en-route to Wanaka - 2nd half of this drive is spectacular, first half a bit boring Wanaka - always worth a visit Drive from Wanaka to Queenstown over the crown range is incredible, worth stopping at Arrowtown and if you enjoy a Winery, Amisfield nearby is brilliant, although bookings essential Although the drive from Queenstown to Te Anau is pretty boring South of Wakatipu (but still beautiful) the drive from Te Anau to Milford Sound is extraordinary (running out of superlatives now) HIGHLY recommend staying at Milford Lodge and enjoying the sound in the evening and morning away from the crowds - Milford Lodges new Chalets are top notch too, especially the Riverside ones flew out of Queenstown which meant less backtracking If you're going to be in CHC, ducking up to Kaikoura could be good, and then drive down to Mount Cook / Pukaki and Tekapo then through the Lindis pass to Wanaka and Central Otago. Lindis Pass is beautiful. EDIT - Just saw you're not one for sightseeing - I'm an hobby photographer so my view will be biased by the landscape, but as a driving experience the landscape certainly factors, and I was impressed with the quality and flow of the SI roads compared to Auckland / Northland, that's for sure. Be wary of speed as well / use cruise control - I got done at 120kmh on an 8km long flat straight by a cop several kms up the road - easy to creep up on some of these roads, especially in a 5 series, and the cops are enjoying snapping the local tourists...

MCM E30 did they choose the right engine?
Sammo replied to Herbmiester's topic in General Discussion
I just saw this, little disappointed TBH, S50/54 would have been nice. Not that an LS E30 is anything to sniff at! -
Done less than a 1000km so far so hard to know TBH. I changed due to the weight as my car was using a fair bit of oil with the edge 5w30 (and I hadn't noticed it using much of whatever was in it when I bought it). Car feels good with either

Jesus, that looks like a lot of work ?
-
Yeah, I have this style - seem to do the job well enough and the pins give some security. Still make sure to point them away and take my time compressing / uncompressing. Lucky only the fronts are mcpherson struts and don't seem to be under a huge amount of pressure.

Is This Where The E30 Market Is Now..?
Sammo replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in TradeMe discussions
Apparently $100k spent. Custom interior and bodywork, M30B35 Turbo, LSD, made to order BBS wheels etc Odd that it hasn't been certed. -

Totally agree, very odd to pump so much money into something and not cert - obviously needs plenty more spent to get it finished. -
Looks great, best colour! Bet it pulls like a train.

A little bit early 2000s scene styled for me but Jesus, there's been some serious money spent on this: https://www.facebook.com/groups/e30ownersnz/permalink/3485150621524259/ -
Would be a monster with a tune ?

Guy on a Facebook group asked what it might be worth so jumped on it straight away... Yeah, hoping a buff and wax will get rid of a few little scratches but its in surprisingly good condition.

Someone getting a deal here IMO
-
Weird - earlier this year I got half way through an online form and didn't complete it. They called me on the Monday and got me booked in - service was exceptional IMO.

Little treat for the 46 arrived today; a set of pretty mint and rare Piano Black interior trim - always wanted a set but never seen it for sale before until a little good fortune on Sunday. Should look a lot nicer than the carbon cube I have. Never realised Piano black had a subtle metallic in it - very nice. Hope to get it in before this Sundays AKL meet up.
