  1. Wow DriveTribe really has fizzled out over the years hasn't it. Nice car though, would love one...
  2. Love it, still can't get over the fact it's manual!
  3. I've also been kind of tempted by an EBike or scooter, but just so hard to justify the cost, $3k+ for a decent bike, $1500+ for a decent scooter.
  4. At that angle it looks so much like a Mazda 3/6
  5. That's very unique and really cool. Reminds me of a baby phaeton, especially with that engine. Stupidly really want a high spec phaeton...
  6. heh I was actually just thinking this myself the other day. I quite dislike the bulky EToll mirror, and was wondering about swapping to either a normal one, that still has auto-dipping, or the one with the buttons (Not that I have a need for those yet). Haven't done any research yet though.
  7. APET on vogel street will do Dyno runs, think they're $150 or so? Had our old STI base-lined there, and had my rally car and WRX both tuned there. Potentially Turbo shop too, but haven't been there myself.
  8. When my suspension programming was checked recently, they confirmed mine's all original programming, and not changed since built. This was imported back in December to Christchurch.
  9. Yeah that's separate springs and strut. The collar is for making the spring captive against the body/perch. I'm 99% certain.

    Quick rant thread.

Ugh, also trying to sell my Gravel Express on Facebook/TradeMe, and I feel you there. So many stupid offers, or "I'll send a mate around to look at it", and nothing ever gets organised. No, I don't want you Lifted hilux that's been abused all the time. No, I won't drive it to Nelson, I already told you it's un-certed and doesn't have a WoF.
  11. Just read your thread, what a ride that was! Firstly, it's great to hear your kids are doing well, You're a damn tough family from what you've said, well done. Secondly, beautiful car, and that wheel looks amazing!

    M54b30 Rebuild

That RTV in the oil squirter terrifies me tbh.
  13. Congrats on the new job, and an early welcome to Otago! Hope you get a decent price for this!
  14. Nice work on getting that all done!
  15. Just wanted to add in here about R & D again. Had a positive experience with them on Friday. When it went in a couple of weeks back from the suspension programming issue, they noticed that both front sway bar links were worn out. Had them replaced on Friday, and also got a chance to talk with the mechanic who was dealing with my programming issue. He was great to chat to and very very knowledgeable. So praise where it's due 👍
  16. Man, epic project, loving it! I'm very much on the same wavelength as you when it comes to these wiring projects. PETG Should be good in the engine bay from everything I've read, I've been meaning to test it myself though. I like the design of you Power Distribution mount, designed it yourself I'm guessing from all the other CAD work I've seen!
  17. Yeah that's exactly it, everyone has different experiences at different places. I've always had great service at Tikeys in Mosgiel and PitStop in town. Happily go to either any day. But I've also heard people having negative experiences at both too.
  18. Been catching up on the entire thread, some awesome builds you have going on, and impressive work. Especially those manifolds, great job!
  19. I honestly haven't heard anything good about R&D here in Dunedin. The dealer I bought my BMW from in Christchurch had me take it to R&D to have the suspension sorted (Needed programmed into the car), instead they must have misunderstood what I asked of them, and reset everything in the car, and said they couldn't find any issues with it. 😕 Have a few friends who haven't found them overly helpful as well.
  20. I've had most of my cars through Tower until the BMW, they wouldn't insure my Fiancee' as she's under 25. Not even at a higher rate, just out right wouldn't. So I have the BMW through State. Previously had my RS Legacy Rally car through Ando I think it was. That was my most difficult car to insure for sure. Otherwise had a few through Classic Cover, and NAC. I've never had to make a claim with any of them, so don't have any experience there.
  21. Finally gave it a wash last night, much needed after the trip back from Christchurch. Grabbed a few 'decent' photos. I think these are factory tinted taillights?
  22. Thanks! Yeah, I've read to be very on top of the servicing, and will try do 6000-7000km changes, from what I read 5w-40 fully synthetic is the way to go, which is the same as I used in my Subaru anyway, so easy. I got my hands on the cable and software for E-Sys, and tried sorting it but couldn't. I've hit the dealer up who organised the country change stuff, so will see what he comes back with. Haha, definitely no 120D! Totally not surprised to find you here! Had a small win today, was able to get the MyBMW App all setup and integrated with home-assistant too, so now have remote locking etc all working from the app. Registered an account on the japanese website, and added the VIN there, then logged in through the app and it all worked easily! Also only just realised it has Spotify integration through the USB plug, although a little hit and miss on it working.
  23. Hey all, Picked up my first BMW, and newest car personally, a 2014 M135i, quite nicely spec'd and a very tidy car overall. Having been a mostly JDM car owner up until now (Plus a couple of Falcons), it's definitely a change! Loving the build quality and the power delivery, very smooth. Seems to have lots of options, Prof Navi, M Sport Brakes, Adaptive Suspension, ConnectedDrive (Useless in NZ?), 436 Wheels, Comfort Access, Reversing camera + PDC, cruise, Driving assistant?, a million M sport bits, etc. So far I've only found a couple of issues. It's been flashed to be an AU car, has NZ maps, full english etc. But it appears they failed to code it for the Adaptive Suspension. It doesn't show any options in sport or sport+ mode to adjust it, and when I read it with BimmerCode it doesn't show it as an option. I've confirmed via the VIN, and physically on the shocks that it has the adaptive suspension. From my googling of removing it, I need to VO code it back in? I do have an E-Net cable, but haven't yet installed ESYS and still trying to get my head around all of the acronyms.
