  1. Good question, not 100% but I’m guessing no more than 8-10 years old. Will find that out too 😁
  2. I know right. Haven’t seen the damage but I understand that it was scrapped and dented don’t know if anything is protruding lol. FYI it happened a little while ago (was driving in a car park and someone reversed out of their park, ‘hitting’ the side - so low impact) and he was uninsured at the time so needs to sort it independently ☹️
  3. Which panel beaters would Auckland members recommend in the Mangere area (or wider) that are reasonably priced? A nephews VW Polo failed a warrant due to panel damage to passenger side doors (didn’t know this is a wof failure). Understand they are dented and will require paint. Will post photos when I get some. He is only in Auckland on a temporary basis and doesn’t have the contacts. Thanks in advance!
  4. RHD Prowler - how cool! LS and manual swap it!
  5. Had a 520i manual which was fun. I would take a 518i manual for the novelty factor - but not at that price 😁
  6. On my watchlist too - love the colour and have a soft spot for e34!

    Quick rant thread.

@Driftit but was it a step up from the 8 seater lol 🤣
  8. Sorry if the sarcasim of the post has been missed. Let me try again… slapping a M5 badge on a 520i/525i/530d/535d (add your own model here) does not make it an M5 😝… same applies to all ‘M’ variants and model series 🤪 Chur!
  9. This could be optimistic lol My prediction is that all the leftover M5 specific bits will be put on a 525i. Or even worse, an e60 diesel variant haha 🤣
  10. Is this the one from Welly? If so, then this is an improvement on what it used to look like 🤣
  11. Yup - Yamaha v8 which I’m sure had a specific 6 spd autobox mated to it too - wanna say Aisin. Both Japanese! Heard S80 sedan is epic. am liking your S60!
  12. Nice! Had a XC90 4.4l v8 which really surprised me. Will say it was quicker and way more practical interior space wise than an E53 X5. Have found myself browsing R-Design 3.2l XC90’s lately! The Swedes know how to do it - or should that be knew how to do it haha
  13. ^^ that’s a bargain! Think I might get me one 😎
  14. JVC/Kenwood seem to good value for basic single din fitment and Bluetooth/usb/amber lighting (on certain models) functionality. Their mech-less ones also save on space fitting wise. I have an Alpine single fin (UTE-XXbt or something like that) unit in one of mine, which I’m impressed with. It doesn’t look out of place and the amber lighting is pretty close too. Plus get BT and front USB charging/playback. Nothing flash but does the trick. HTH

    Sad news

I'm stunned and shattered. Sanjay was the ultimate enthusiast. Yes his knowledge of local BMW's, particularly e24, e34, e31, e39 M5, was truly next level. But his ability to recall particular cars, their owners and locations, and time period they owned them was mind boggling. And he would rattle off local build and import numbers like you wouldn't believe. For those that didn't know, Sanjay was an ex-pat living in the States. I connected with him several years ago when I cheekily PM'd him enquiring about his 840ci (he had mentioned in a post that it was still here). Within minutes of passing on contact details he gave me the first call of what would become many. Although conversations where mainly talking cars, there were many times of just chatting about life. Sanjay was a ball of excitement and enthusiasm, always freely passing on his knowledge and advice. We looked forward to one day meeting kanohi ki te kanohi, tangata ki te tangata (in person) to talk about and drool over cars. Alas, this was not meant to be. Our connection was over the e31 - I was constantly picking his brain! "My 840ci was a keeper" he would always say (he was fastidious about it and it was one of the better, if not best, examples) until... he acquired his e39 M5 Dinan. Not that long ago, he did let his 840ci go so in his honour, I share with you 'his 8' ... Rest In Paradise my brother and until we meet...
  16. Did a Bimmersporter buy it? Bahaha 🤣🤣🤣
  17. Can honestly say that this is an excellent example - would buy it back (again!) if I didn't have the e60 M5 ☹️ GLWS!
  18. What about this as an alternative? - https://www.repco.co.nz/oils-fluids/engine-oils-fluids/engine-oil/penrite-10-tenths-premium-10w-60-engine-oil-5l-fs10w60005/p/A1262679 Disclaimer: my knowledge and interpretation of oil specs and associated science = below zero %. i.e. I have no idea what 10w-60 actually means other than it is original spec/grade 🤣
  19. Last time I was at the local dealership I asked, out of curiosity, about what the recommended oil for the v10 is. Their reply was that full synthetic 5w-30 is now recommended - and is for most of the high performance engines. I’m too scared to put this in after having rod bearings done 😢
  20. Be aware that the value is $1k NZD when Duty and GST (on the order and shipping) is charged/due for the order to be cleared through Customs. This will need to be paid before it is released to local courier for delivery. Since FCP changed to exclusively using UPS, I try to keep orders below the $NZD threshold - UPS are the ones who collect the taxes on behalf of the taxman and are pretty strict in doing so. Wish FCP would be friends with FedEx again... 🤣
  21. Agree! But not $45k nice lol
  22. My read of the thread is that a motor and trans with 120kms was installed (along with the M5 goodies) in 2019 - the car had travelled 270kms at the time of the swap. So, lower km engine/trans than what the chassis is. Was really impressed with this build back in 2019 and still am, other than the red interior :-(. e39 540i Tourings don't come up that often either! Non-vanos = probably one less thing to fix haha!
  23. According to Carjam, this was at 196kms in Dec 2020... it must be getting cheaper 🤣
