Thanks for the suggestions so far - will look into them. edited the request to be a bit clearer, meaning , cheap a$$ and effective options/alternatives 😎

I'm keen to 'sound deaden' the cavity of the roof in my HSV station wagon, while I have the headliner out. As there is quite of bit of surface area, using Dynamat would be super expensive. So... what are the cheaper sound deadening options/alternatives? TIA, Cheers

Nice colour combo. Pity that it is LHD ☹️.

Having own/ed both a 4l manual and a 4.4l auto e31, my preference would be... the auto, which I think it is suited to the GT nature of the e31 (or is it a stage of life thing haha). Don't get me wrong, the manual is the 'bees knees' and is great fun to drive (even with tired suspension lol), but the tiptronic auto is well matched to the 4.4l, smooths out the experience and is no slouch either. Also, don't believe what they say about the e31 being slow, dull and disappointing. I find it a pure pleasure to drive and won't embarrass itself, especially the CSI, against most of the modern 'unmodified' stuff today. And it looks way cooler than anything else out there haha! I thought my manual one had the edge, performance, handling and comfort wise, over the V2 Monaro CV8 I had at the the same time. @Kodachrome If your CSI went to Christchurch, I think it is soon to be 'back on the road' from what I've read in a post on the US forum ☺️. Cheers

Quite enjoy these videos...

You can tell US style FTPs as they have orange indicator lenses. The Euro style are ‘tinted’. As this is a NZ new it should have the euro style ones, which are way better IMO. Looks like the ones on this car maybe US type or are aftermarket - but I’m not aware that they are available as aftermarket. Here’s a pic of a couple nz new examples for ref 😎

Thought that too - especially when its manually converted, wrong steering wheel and US type TP's. But those M-Pars are cool! Have heard that the manually conversion was done properly though

Pair of Stanfred 850kg car ramps. Good condition with minor paint blemishes - see pics (Will post pics later today). Were apparently only used a couple of times. Bought these off Trademe over the weekend. Didn’t realise that the bmw’s are too low for them. $80 - only looking to get back what I paid for them. Pick up preferred (Porirua) or happy to drop off in the Wellington region.

Have seen the wreckage of a single car where there were multiple deaths a number of years ago. It was a ‘few’ days after the accident. It was in a storage facility and still had the obvious signs of the carnage to all occupants. Putting something like this 'up for sale' to recover costs is beyond my comprehension, let alone buying something like this to scavenge parts off - no thank you. Every wreck has a story I suppose…

Bugger, they are both left hook or else I would be in! 😎

Did the dealership ‘claim expenses’ if they did the restoration? Intentional tax avoidance on the $90k of ‘profit’, ahh-hem, ‘personal income’? Wonder if IRD is gonna come calling next… 🤣
-
Have to admit, this is very tempting… is rust an issue with it being a UK import?
-
Yeah. Nah. My eyes still hurt! 🤣 probably the rare time we will agree to disagree on this one haha

Buy the sound system and get a car for free???

This monstrosity crawling down Lambton Quay. Somehow someone has managed to ruin an i8 ☹️
-
^Cheers! That would make it on sale for $30k circa 97 and then $7k roughly middle 2010’s if memory serves me correct. Probably not that much of a bargain then haha. still reckon it would be a fun car to have , conditional on replacing the wheels and rest of the ugly standard stuff 🤣

My first e39 was a 535i, NZ new. Really enjoyed it as it was very capable as an everyday driver, even in auto guise. Had a VR Senator at the same time and they were completely different cars although they had similar power figures. Found the 3.5 V8 was more refined with enough oomph for daily use, and even got it past 190kmh once haha (and got passed by an e63 M6!) I reckon this is bargain and huge bang for buck - very tempting and would be cool upgrading it to 'm-sport' spec! Wonder if this is the UK imported one that Angus & Burrell, in Wellington, sold a couple of times...
