  1. Must be a case of pleasing the wife. Its for sale!
  2. Isn't the cause of this also due to high current blower motors, due to debris blocking them. I recall this was an issue, where people have been known to buy new units only for them to fail very quick because of the straining motor. Might pay to check yours out and clean out the housing.
  3. The arguments are all out of kilter. As some others have mentioned here, look how far petrol and diesel cars have come in recent decades, theres been a year by year improvement. Yet cars are still attacked relentlessly. Where is the mass focus on manufacturing, agricultural and power/heating where the bulk of the issue lies? I guess its "easier" to regulate the car industry rather than pester core economic sectors the governments have investment in.
  4. One of the Otahuhu power plants has just shut down last month, unit B I believe. That is the larger building with the short, wide tower. I think the new power is from a geothermal unit way down in central North Island. I really question the integrity of the NZ power network, it seems shody at the best of times, starting to overload systems in residential zones with high demand car chargers seems like a disaster waiting to happen. The southdown plant is also going soon I read.
  5. As for the bullet thing I believe they contact at the same time due to equal mass and gravity working on them. I think Mythbusters concluded that. If I recall the curvature of the earth is a tiny factor though?
  6. Isn't this just proof of how obscene the emission regulations have become?
  7. Are there any Penrite variations you can use. Most of their oils are top notich and LL-98 BMW rated.

  9. Parking the 3 cars really shows how much sharper looking the BMWs were than that era of Mercedes. With a quick glance the E500 could be a Ssanyong or Hyundai
  10. I always had a theory some auto makers electronically made their cars more economical for tests. The move to automatic manuals too has allow them to control the cars performance even further than before with old manual gearboxes. Seems this is finally proof of such naughty trickery. I don't blame them though, the tests set are pretty controversial with their requirements.
  11. We will be able to see your collection of E38s from space soon!
  12. Temporary speed sensor / joke.
  13. Yes, steering rack has to be moved forward. I did this dozens of times on my E36 V8. Not the most fun job, especially when it goes between a custom 4-2-1 manifold haha. On a side note, take care as to not damage the splines, it can be easily done.
  14. Finally was able to bring the car back to the shop and speak with the owner to show him the car. He was pretty pissed off to see some of the work done, while a reserved older guy he was not impressed at all. As it turns out part of the repair was done by someone they have since sacked! Argh. The following will be done to sort the main issues: > I've supplied them a replacement guard so he has agreed to repaint it. > The random holes in the bumper to the side of the no. plate will be painted to hide them > The RHS pin stripe will be redone to the correct height > The front fender pin strip on both sides will be finished between the headlights and wheel. > The hole in the door panel inside skin will be tided up and painted to stop it rusting.
  15. Are these engines purely an example of too much accountant meddling?

    E46 M3 CS

    A very photogenic machine
  17. Looks like quite the project. Wonder what went of for the government to end up with it. Police seizure?
  18. Id give finding a E46 convertible a go for around the 10k mark. Alot more car than the Z3s. Safer too.
  19. Yeah, that can be test drove etc.
  20. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-946199398.htm When people try sell project cars that are barely projects. An E30 with no engine and 2JZ supplied with no engine mounts or ANY key work done does not constitute being a project with a few things left to be done. That's just a collection of incompatible parts.
  21. 191km well used 7 series at 7 years old. Cheap to buy, won't be cheap to maintain.
  22. Seems after Trade Me has got on his case hes suddenly decided to give me a refund. 80s CDs for my 90s OEM CD player of course. I like the nostalgia. On some days I play tapes too...
  23. Trade Me user not allowing me to pick up a couple of CDs, instead he posts them with El-cheapo $2.75 post, they get lost and I never receive them. He raves on with excuses and then files for lost items via NZ posts. After weeks and weeks of dialuge still nothing. Two months later NZ post isn't doing anything as hes fed them some sort of lies about it being found, even though I never got them. The seller has also declined to reimburse me in any way, not even with CDs of a similar value. I just found today he has blacklisted me from his other auctions. What does that say about his integrity - he just thinks I've got them and have tried to lie so I can get my money back. I've just filed a Trade ME non delivered item report, probably wont do much, but we shall see..... The two CDs were only $28.51 including shipping but its not the point, the sellers "In Trade" with 3000+ feedbacks yet is unwilling to help when his non tracked shipping fails to deliver them. It's more the principle of resolving the situation, I don't care for the CDs or money but the fact the seller thinks he can just move on is what annoys me. I'll keep poking at this until I get a result.
