Pretty cool. They don't sound very good though, not bad but not exciting like the Porsche 991 GT3 or Lexus RC-F GT3 with their mad NA engines.

My favorite trick is when people use the photos of the car when they bought it off the last owner 5 years ago or something. Lazy buggers, clean the car and take some current photos!

What would cause so many electrical issues? Is this just age or people fiddling with things to trigger issues like this?

These machines seem like great marketing fads. Strip a performance car of its internal combustion engine with that of an electric motor, it's never going to have the same soul or offer offer the experience a petrol or diesel engine provides, sure it can go fast, but I'd rather it be twice as slow & make a good sound in the process. I'm all for hydrogen/electric cars, but keep that boring tech to the mass market A-B cars that don't offer any joy out of their IC engine.

While they have likeable aspects. I think they fall into that Boxster vs 911 category. If I had one I wouldn't be sad, but I'd always feel I'd ended up with the cheaper less refined car

Holy clean! Interesting pictures. You know how I like pic posts Is this E39 'better' than the first one given the engine / mechanical condition?

Awesome. that's a healthy output. Good to pick up power in the mid range, after all that is your usable power, low to mid range is where you drive most of the time.
-
Welcome. Nice colour, rarer and more interesting than the usual silvers and black! What did you get on the dyno?

I thought those were paintings of the car.

I thought these online donations were more for people with out of the ordinary problems, like health complications beyond their control & couldn't afford the costs associated. I'm sure everyone would love a donation towards their car projects. I know I would.

Is 60k fair for that? Seems like a fair amount of coin.

Love the E38s interior its one of the best. Not fussy and over detailed like the interiors today.
-
Awesome. Its fun to have more of the same model.

Hmmm Static when playing CDs etc? Interesting about the power issue the other one is having. Do you find the performance differs slightly if the car is hot / parked in the sun as apposed to early in the morning / late at night when they are cold? I had various stereo issues in my Soarer that runs DSP units, Amps and reciever controls and the problems would fluctuate with temperatures. In the end it was due to aged faulty capacitors. I replaced about 250 of them between the 4 units and now it works perfectly.

Cars going back in on Monday to get the main issue of the door panel fixed, as you can see the differences are pretty significant

What problems are you having with them?

^ Hard to know. The used 1990s car market is all over the place these days. It's a niche market for old BMWs, let alone 5L V12 ones.
-
Oh yeah I didn't notice that. How quirky.

Very nice and a good price too. Make yours red again Jooles!

They've clearly put two sets of springs on top of each other. This is why mechanical work should be left to the professionals.

It's amazing what some maintenance does! Great work as always.

Id never start another job there that's for sure. But under the situation they should be making right their wrongs, at least the main ones, at no cost to me. Clearly they have just palmed this job off to their limited skill workers or apprentices. Now they need to get their skilled guys on it to sort it once & for all. I won't be letting up until I'm satisfied.
-
Thanks Dave, wont be keeping my hopes up with the work done so far, but I will continue until I am satisfied. Big lesson learned once again. It's sad what happens when you trust someones outfit and they fail to deliver.

^ We shall see Allan. Meanwhile just found MORE stuff ups! Found part of the door card speaker has been damaged from being pried off, breaking the screw holes and glue filled in them to fix it, but it means the screws can't on in properly, no wonder it sat loose. Water sheilding plastic not refitted and then a HUGE hole near the edge of the door was roughly cut to get access to fix a door latch issue, most bizarre thing I've ever seen. WTF are these clowns up to, they're sure going to get an earful next week.

Spoke to the boss about the job, he agreed it was not up to scratch. Turns out one of the guys went on holiday part way through the job and it was finished by someone else... presumably with less skill. Car is going back in next week.... Zzzzzzzzz
