Probably on a couple that appear to be worth the asking price though.
-
Yeah sorry got mixed up. Personally i don't see that much more added value in a short period even though you've done good work on it. Id have see multiple good examples ones actually sell for 30k+ to acknowledge that is where the current market has priced them.
-
If you can sell it for 38k then congrats. Robs old one is listed 25k. 4 door but seems realistically priced.
-
Nice. Now you have reason to buy this DUDMD chip off me haha.
-
6 cyl but they sold awhile back
-
The new E36 in my book, ever since the driftor\flatpeak cap crowd etc began butchering 36's because they couldnt afford Jap rwd's. These are the next best option.
-
Exactly. One car selling for 37k doesn't represent true market value either. If it wasn't silver id probably make you an offer

If no record of it being done it comes done how fussy you want to get\how reliable you want it to be, but yeah - Cooling system, Transmission service, oil seals\hoses, vanos seals, PCV and suspension probably need some sort of attention. Most of the E39 wagon ive driven have worn subframe bushings. 525i less likely to burn oil than the 3.0L, probably only advantage it has.
-
Haha yep. Most of the other stuff went down to the lower half of Nth Island.
-
Looks to have been passed around a fair bit with 9 owners also. If you are fine with the high change of spending 1-2k to get bring it up to standard, then go for it.

After the clearcoat failing around the place and gearbox having a sick bearing i decided to throw in the towel after 6 years\70,000km with no mechanical issues. Its been parted out\recycled with only a minimal amount of plastic waste going into the landfill. The rest will live on in some form. I wouldn't do it again as its very time consuming, but i received about $80 from recycling the aluminum, wiring and steel, so at least paid for my carbide tip sawzall blades. The bare shell weighed about 350kg RIP

Seems a fair price for what you are getting. https://www.facebook.com/commerce/listing/2657893684478189/ Too bad they dont do it for me as there's lots to choose from.

Coilovers or not on E82 135i? School me!

Id wager most put them on for ride height adjustment\stance. They obviously don't care too much about handling because most of these cars with them fitted (esp Jap stuff) are typically on some sh*t spec rubber. -
Hopefully it doesn't take too long to move it.

or paying 100's of $ for a slightly longer piece of alloy

I'm sure most of the ones i've seen on the market costing a chunk more than the equivalent BMW has something to do with it. Reserve seems quite reasonable but that interior isnt for everyone.
-
Certainly not helping but you still need people to willing to sell
-
M60\M62 hybrid if you got money to spend, best of both worlds. Ive yet to see a M62 non vanos with bad guides in NZ but that maybe down to build numbers. Either way the non vanos motor is the more reliable version.
-
Yeah it's certainly one of the reasons but from what i see that doesn't apply too much for older 'classic' cars. I can only summize that people are who own those cars in this day and age don't want to sell them. From what ive experienced finding stuff on facebook via search seems like playing Pinata. Plenty of more modern BM and Mercs available on the market though, AMG 55's and 63's aren't in short supply,
-
If anyone can't adapt to something so simple they probably need to handle in their license.
-
Maybe due to Covid , import laws, or just me, but i feel like everything has gone up in price (incl worn out money pits) and there seems is a distinct lack of older stuff for sale ie < 90's I dont browse facebook etc much as its too mentally exhausting so maybe im not seeing all there is.

Just fixed 3 cars at work last week for a local panel beater here, a E87, Evo4 and Sirion. All 3 had taken a hit to the front left requiring replacement steering racks, knuckles and bearing to be fitted (for insurance). Naturally all sporting some sort of Chinese flavour of the month, but crashing ain't enough to stop people buying on price it seems.
-
It's still available but for $1500 https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2765360836?bof=3twZVUlK

Best way to fight these sort of issues is for people to dispute the infringement and go to court, courts will get overwhelmed quick if enough people do it then they likely be forced to backtrack.
