3 pointsWell i must have fallen and hit my head cause ive decided to do this again. I bought a cheap E36 325i coupe that someone had let the rego lapse and had been parked doing nothing for three years so i trailered it home from the Manawatu and got stuck in. When i got the car home found that it had a dead fuel pump. Got it running with a new one and found the vanos to be rattliung away so thats on the to do list. Checked over the car for the re-vin check all that was needed was new brakes all round, two tyres and the wing mirror i collect the garage door with. $300 later it was back in the sytem. Now that its got its WOF, the work continues. Replaced the rear brakes with a vented rear disc setup, and had a 330 brake setup left over from my e30 build with some slotted rotors so they went on. Also still have a Z3 rack left lying around so thatll go in soon. Auto box got the boot and got a Getrag swap with an LSD diff swap. Quite a noticable size and weight difference The plan is to cage it and give it some track day abuse so the interior got the bin. Ill need to remove the airbags and abs as i wont be needing those. Was sitting too high so coilovers will get in sitting where id like it. Before After Painted the tail lights to hide the ugly cracks that where starting to show. Not a big fan of the wheels bit small and offsets a bit high so decided some 5 or 7 series wheels would do the trick. Decided on some style 94s off an E65 735i which are 18x8 in a 24p front and rear. Guard clearance is a bit... well there's none so they'll need a small bit of work to avoid rubbing. Bumpers will get swapped for motorsports when i get around to painting them. I have a T3/T4 turbo setup that i cant decide if i should put on, as the original plan was to go down the V8 route. So until i can decide which way to go ill leave it. Will update when i can be bothered doing anymore work

2 pointsI'm not the best to ask to be honest. Dr Google can answer for you - just search Valve Adjustment S54 and it even comes up with DIY YouTube videos. How considerate lol

2 pointsHit the 100,000 km mark of the E46 M3 SMG over the past week. It's been 52,000 kms of great motoring over the past 3 years. Have only had to sort rear view mirror and power steering hose. Quite good really for a 13 y/o

1 pointSpotted some guys in an E30 318 with BBS wheels parked in the obvious 'getting stoned' spot on top of Mega Mitre 10 last night. Also some wanker in a Red 05 M6 driving like a total piece of sh*t on the Northern Motorway. Had a go at the Mrs for hitting the horn when he cut her off due to him being in the wrong lane and suddenly changing without indicating. Rego: GAF703 And a nice E30 M3 I have not seen before. Silver and Stock. Driving along Oteha Valley road.

1 pointyea what about the 4cyl bmw diesels in about the 2005 year etc , chains stretching and snapping , and its mounted in the back of the motor so the engine needs to be removed to change low quality part was used and can fail at 80k's or 200k's

1 pointI assume this is the one that's on TM? Looking for a towbar, but if it's the TM one then I already asked haha

1 pointWas pretty straight foreward, same as a wof check but they measure the brakes to make sure they are in spec and need to see the mounting points for the seatbelts so you just need to remove the interior. Inspectors are making good money on it they only had my car an hour and the inspection fee was $300. You mainly track use too? I started doing some drift days so bought the e36 as parts are a little easier to come by, was getting risky in the e30

1 pointThose springs are scarier than a walking dead episode. Glad nothing untoward happened at the drags ! Pervious owner would be up on murder charges. Great progress on raising the standard of your M3

1 pointMy baby is finally back in the driveway <3 It's been a long 4 weeks of serious maintenance work, but well worth it! This week: New Front diff mounts.. New rear springs (thanks to the idiots before me who cut them!) new drive shaft.. And best off all that reinforced subframe.. All thanks to (guess which team?) Ray and his f**ken awesome bunch of guys. Seemed there were a few expired parts in there.. Better replaced than not! Now to give it a good test drive Old springs (how the heck did I not notice??)

1 pointLMAO and thats not even the worst part. The worst part is that the chain isnt on the front of the engine like normal, its on the rear, against the firewall.

1 pointI used to see an e39 like that parked outside the Central park on the way up to Brooklyn. Doubt it's the same one being in CHCH but same colour and ACS wheels.. I swear it didn't move for 3 months parked on the side of the road.

1 point^ Cheers, it's coming along. Unfortunately it seems that maintenance will never end... I've added some information in my post above to elaborate on the procedure.

1 pointThese m62's are such a fantastic design...very reliable with no design flaws... cough cough, I dread the timing chain guides going on top of everything else. Would be quite a good DIY though if you have the time and facilities.

1 pointIt's too simplistic. Average wage in Auckland for example, is higher than small town mid North Island towns, but the cost of living is higher so their disposable income is probably much of a muchness. A higher fine would potentially hit them harder. Most of the people I know that earn a lot more than me, have also borrowed a lot more than me so they don't really have any more actual cash in hand. I think we just need to be tough on sh*t driving and tough on repeat offending. You only have to watch one of the reality cop shows to see that repeat offenders continue to repeat offend with little or no penalty. Sure, their license gets suspended but no-one checks if they're still driving. Just read this morning that one of the key-taking douches didn't have a license. Go NZ double standards!

1 pointHaving a "current WOF" doesn't gaurantee an insurance payout. It's the responsibility of the owner/driver to ensure the vehicle is up to a warrantable standard at all times.

1 pointDelighted to receive my new steering rack today and hope to get it in ASAP because the steering feels sloppy after the suspension upgrade. After oodles of research I decided not to go with the quickest rack available (Z3) because a lot of people (but certainly not all) feel the result is a little too twitchy. That rack is 19% tighter than my stock one, the E46 Compact rack I've just received is 11% tighter than my current one so hopefully a perfect compromise and the reports out of the UK are that it's a fabulous upgrade. I paid £55 and that included lots of high resolution photos and I was allowed to choose a clean low mileage one (27k miles) that had no front end damage... not bad considering they're hundreds and hundreds (and hundreds) of dollars over here. Indeed it is very clean and in great condition overall, the boots hardly seem used (I don't need the arms but they came included). Will probably order a new reservoir (because it has a non-serviceable filter in it) and gets some hoses made up before I shove it all in (or more likely talk to SJ about it!).
