5 pointsHer insurance should cover all costs. Thats why she had insurance. What is annoying, is that your insurance company should be doing this work for you. Try to take emotions out of the situation and ask yourself, would Donald Trump take no for an answer? Then hang up, and walk around telling people they are fired. LIKE A BOSS.

2 pointsThats my plan... had brought the land already, but sold it late last year. About to put my other property on the market, has increased 60k in 6 months. I can buy a nice house in Taupo or surrounding area's freehold, maybe rent it out as an investment and travel for a bit. Exciting times, kind of glad I spent my 20's working hard.. time to be a 33 year old 23 year old.

2 pointsDoesnt sound too bad from that Did you have a panel beater of your choice look at it for you, or was the car inspected by someone specifically for the insurer? Ive seen what 15k worth of parts looks like to repair a crash job, and its a hell of a lot of parts

2 points+ 1. I bought 1 acre of flat land just outside of Cambridge with 150m2 shed. After building a 300m2 house w/4 car garage it will be cheaper than the average 3-4bd North Shore home on a 300m2 section... and quicker to commute to my old job in Manukau now the Waikato expressway is well under way.

2 pointsI'm sorry but anything a bank + nz herald + stuff + says weather want you to believe it or not are creating hype to create business. Yes its driven by by demand, but that hysteria is being driven by media ad placements. On top of all this the numbers of average prices are being slanted by the fact there is just mostly no first home buyers are keeping the average sale price down. Anyone trying to sell a house at the moment in the first home buyer price bracket is wanting more than top dollar for theirs driven by the Auckland city council and its agenda. The high percentage of first home buyers aren't stupid. They're not going to pay on the whole for more than somethings worth as there is no value that they can add for more than 10 years. This leaves 2nd home buyers who are cashing in and trying to step up and reset their mortgages back to 20% equity (or more). The second or third home buyers market is enjoying a buoyant time at the moment. Although the middle investment mums and dads have just hit the skids with the 30% equity thing

1 pointI just noticed this at a pump in the North Shore today. Didn't realise it was available other than at Hampton Downs. Having read up about it there seems to be so much conflicting information on what cars it works with and doesn't due to the age of cars and these so called 'flexi-fuel' cars. Some say it will eat 'regular' cars rubber fuel lines and seals, even lead to bad oiling etc but then others say it doesn't and brings many benefits despite increased consumption. Same with the way cars are tuned, I gather its 110 octane? Clearly most NA cars wouldnt see the advantages of this unless having a higher than normal compression. Curious to know who uses this fuel and for what applications?

1 pointOne of them days when works over rated for customers so whipped up some stuff, Quad throttles for a M42 using GTIR Pulsar units ( going onto my daughters car ) and start of a Audi Grp B intake manifold for my turbo M42 E36.

1 pointThis thread is on fire. Mean. Will take her insurance to town to help cover my bill if it comes to that. My insurance aren't the most helpful. "So by insuring my car at an under market value through you guys, I'm therefor disadvantaged even more than if I didn't have insurance?" Them: "well we can't answer that"

1 pointIf you haters had bought in AK at the start of this thread, you could have sold now and paid cash for your rural shed.
-
1 pointPretty sure he's right. You are able to pursue further expenses from a liable 3rd party through the disputes tribunal or courts. If you want the hassle.
-
1 pointI agree, there is just too much in Auckland for me to move anywhere else. I was raised in Christchurch and it is still home but AKL really does have it s**t together now. Especially if you are clever and worked your way around the peak hour traffic issues.

1 pointThose Prados are awful. They are as undesirable as Rav4s to my mind. Very much a spare parts car built off the Surf and Landcruiser bits, yet no where near as good as either. I think theres a very good reason why they are so cheap on the used market compared to a proper 80 or 100 series landcruiser.

1 pointoh man.. why was it unsured for so little? from my experience the insured value doesnt make a HUGE difference to the yearly premium, maybe just a few hundred dollars no?

1 pointIf written off it will parted out. I'd love my M3 back. I've seen the level of work the guys I'm using have done and the cars come out straighter than factory. Right now it's a matter of just working out how to tell them 'repair it' and I'll cover the owing bill, and work hand in hand to get the parts from external sources that aren't BMW NZ

1 pointA shame, there are plenty of M3's out there though, personally I would rather a non crashed car than one that has been repaired, from experience, they are never the same if you are fussy. I always push for it to be written off. If it is written off and you chose to buy it back and repair it, keep in mind it will be de-registered and you will have to go through that process. Good luck either way.
-
1 pointIf they will only pay to 15k to repair it, is there an option to take the 15k, and repair it yourself? I think with some careful purchasing, and not rushing you could have it fixed for less than that. Remember the repairer is probably using new parts, and is trying to make some money.

1 pointHad a similar issue last year when another tenant in work carpark hit my rear bumper At that time I was with AA insurance - I managed to find out who hit me/car via the CCTV footage and informed my insurance When AA rang the company to accept liability - head office of the company denied liability and AA insurance informed me (but I was chasing them everyday) I then threatened to have the driver charged under the land transport act - leaving a scene of a accident etc - they quickly got back to AA insurance and accepted liability I also made sure that the panel beater I wanted to work on my car -Precision Autowerk was the one given the job even though AA wanted me to use other panel beaters, think I had more sway as I wasn't at fault

1 pointHmmm I dont really see a bubble personally. There really isnt enough housing to go around, including the rental market. Its going to be 5-10years before the new sub-divisions are all up and running. People still want to own a house close to Auckland CBD. Unfortunately Auckland is now Sydney.

1 pointI use the E85 gull force pro fuel when doing track days / weekend fun runs Pros 45+HP and 90+Nm TQ over my 98 map Cooling properties of Ethanol that helps with keeping temps down How angry my car sounds + backfires /flames out of the exhaust Cons Few places in Auckland to get E85 at the pump (Hampton, Puke, Hillcrest) Bugger all mileage Don't run it normally for DD as I am lucky to get 300km out of a 60L tank verus my 550km usually on 98
