4 pointsI hate stop/start technology. A pain at roundabouts if you're gunning it in to a gap.

3 pointsQuote Guy is selling a 2005 BMW M5 with 111,000km on the clock. I wonder if it had new tyres back then too... would be great to know what other wear items were replaced 75,000km ago... Also. People who say "dealer service history" and you look and it was last updated in 2001... thats 14 years ago mother f**kers!!

2 pointsI know I am risking a death threat here Ash but do you have a picture of the item you are talking about. I don't think I have seen them.

-
2 pointsI bought Lemfoerder ball joints and bushings throughout for my rear suspension overhaul. Most were a bit cheaper than BMW genuine on ECS tuning.

1 pointCome on, that's pretty trivial isn't it? Do you call the toilet a ' white porcelain excrement collector' so you can get a better understanding of what it is so you can model your poo properly in it? Let's get back to talking about learning how to tune.

1 pointThere's a bit of good luck there. Someone backs off a 4ft retaining wall and appears to have suffered no damage? Not even a dinged sill. That wouldn't happen to me.

1 pointYeah pretty much sums it up. I just don't like any entry level model car... they tend to be a quite an affront to all the bigger well spec'd cars.
-
1 pointI did ask earlier, Did you try to turn it over using a wrench on the front to see if it was stuck?

1 pointon road costs: wof and rego. wof should pass so $25. rego is like $70 from beginning of next month so thats like $100 value. 2 year warranty? mechanical warranty? with who? that means you are required to do a trans fluid service within 3 months of purchase ($500-700) then regular servicing at authorized centres which is like $200-500 each time. you cant take it to random indy places or do it yourself and there are strict rules for making sure you are eligible for claim. but what could go wrong with a car thats done 40ks? probaly nothing until its hit 100ks by then your 2 year warranty would have already expired. i would say tell the dealers u dont want the warranty and offer 13k for the car. who knows? (no responsibilty taken if your car breaks down without mech warranty based on what i said above)

1 pointNow uploaded, links in original post. Sorry, they've been sold pending payment - but they are SKF part number VKBA 1460, which should fit your E46.

1 pointThank goodness! I want about ot take the piss, coz it look like Mercedes stole there design cues from those butt-ugly Ford Taurus's (tauri?) with the saggy bodywork, dodgy headgasket and suspect transmissions...
-
1 pointthanks for that julian, im trying to slow down a little because i know i can start ordering boxes of parts and its going to end up being a lot more expensive than what i had in mind. ill get round to the suspension parts sooner rather than later
-
1 pointmy friend sold his for around $12k not long ago with 100 ks and another member sold his for 10500? with 80 or 90ks. both were 323i msports 2006. given the low kms its an ok price but i personally think its a bit on the expensive side.

1 pointWelcome to the forum. Nice looking car and low k's too. I'm sure someone will chime in who know's about these.

1 pointDon't get me wrong, I am normally the guy selling the car at 100,000km, and buyers car be a pain in the arse. I literally told one guy to f**k off out of my garage and go to the nearest "new car" dealership if he wants a brand new car after he started pointing out small blemishes on a car that was 4 years old and one third the cost of a new one. Its like hear you go, have my car I have lost $40,000 and cleaned every weekend for the past 4 years, I am sorry I didn't save it for you, perhaps I shouldn't have driven it and brought some seat covers for the times I just sat in and had a cry wank waiting to sell it to you for next to nothing... oh, and BTW, yes, I did do its 100,000km cam belt service for you, that cost me $2,400... can I throw in a box of beer and a reach around, maybe I could service your less than satisfied looking wife while we are at it. So im not being a pedantic buyer, its just frustrating dealing with a lot of these "second owners" who are trying to fob off sh*t they have not spent a dollar on other than some M badges and fake carbon fibre. Oh. Did I mention I am looking at a carrier in car sales?? Can I interest you in a mocha-chino sir?

1 pointIts great fun trying to buy a second hand car, have not had to do that for a long time.. life is hard. Starting to regret selling my business, there are some perks to being self employed, buying new brand new cars is a massive one as you can write off depreciation against income and claim GST on payments, service, fuel etc. Back to a scummy old car for me.. but no payments will be nice, an extra few hundred dollars every month to spend on fixing an old car.

1 pointOriginal was 385mm, the mtech II is 365 or 370mm. Doesn't seem like much of a difference but it's all about the feels.... And it feels way better!

1 pointBMWs to the front! The hydraulic system for the rear steering and suspension, so all the lines, fittings, pumps and random bits, 110kg. I weighed the lot when I stripped one of these down for spare parts. The rest of the 'toys' easily 50kg of bits and pieces. With someone in the car mine weighed in at ~1830kg, so they are a heavy hector, hence the need to develop a supercharger.

1 pointWhen people list a 7k car and the excuse is "selling to buy first home". Where? Invercargill? Also, when people use the excuse "wife is making me sell it" . Be a man for f**k sake.
-
1 pointBeing quoted $938 for a set of H&R lowering springs when I can get the same set from America for $418.90nzd plus about $70 for gst and another $80 for postage. Saves me about $370. Where's the incentive to buy locally. This is getting beyond ridiculous and bordering on insulting.

1 point^ why why why..... do i love this soo much. It's rusty and would be horrid to drive. but it's just so much win...

1 pointI can't stand them. Though most of my hatred for them comes from the crap race series they had. A modern much more powerful car that was only slightly quicker than a 318i E30. Driven exclusively by cocky "Up and Comers". Taking up a huge amount of track time for only 6 cars that sound and look like sh*t. No passing would take place. Yep that is why I hate them. Plus they are always driven by boring women trying to hang onto their younger days by buying a "sporty" fashion accessory car. Though these women are outnumbered by Mazda 3 and 6 drivers who purchased them for the same reason.

1 pointBuy a set of e30 Lemforder ball joints and get them pressed into your suspension arms. They are a far better design than the e36 ones as they do not have the rubber dampening bit that collapses as yours have and allow play in the suspension. P/N is LEM-1051903. While you are about it, replace the 'lollipop' bushes with the offset e30 M3 ones, P/N LEM-1056001. These make a decent change to steering responsiveness. While you have the arms off, check the inner ball joints and replace them if they show any wear. part number LEM-1051802. Replace the front ARB drop links with the rear drop links from a 2000-2007 Ford Mondeo Estate. These units are rose-jointed, giving a firmer, stronger hold over your anti-roll bar. Much better than the BMW ones. They are available from Lemforder, part number is LMI 2581102.

1 pointFixed my blower motor which was only working intermittently and only on speed 4. Removed the resistor and cleaned the contacts. Also gave the motor itself a once over. Blower is working again on all speeds but the motor is still a little asthmatic, might need to replace it at some point. Was also going to have a crack at fixing the problem of the wipers juddering across the screen when on intermittent but got distracted and painted the scuttle vents instead. Turned out nicely, will have a go at fixing the wipers tomorrow.

1 pointPainted wing mirrors, turned out quite good, might do bumpers tomorrow.
