3 pointsyep just a sign of an ever growing Auckland population with productive land being sold for housing, and the increasing demand for food and resources needing to be trucked in from further and further away. Auckland is geographically situated in literally the worst place for a main city lol. Tinyest width of land in the north island and sitting on top of a range of active volcanos amoung the main reasons!

3 pointshahah I thought someone would say this! I knew the street name, but had to use google maps so rest assured I've never been there :~)

2 pointsWOF passed on the E38, whoop whoop, well apart from some replaced brake lines, no dramas On collecting though the battery had finally given up, so replaced that but knew it was coming

2 pointsRiverview Road in Huntly - west side of the river, but well towards the south side. We'll go have a look at a place in Naike tomorrow. The current owners have commuted to Auckland for years. Back on topic ( ) I'll fill the 320d up again tomorrow. Initial estimates are 5%+ more economy since removing the EGR gubbins, but that remains to be confirmed.

1 pointHello Friends, Bought this lovely car a few weeks before. New to BMW and I love the driving experience. Use to have a 350 GT Skyline Coup MT earlier and the Beemer is definitely more refined and torquier. Planning on chipping my car with a JB4 or Cobb sometime next year.

1 pointYea I thought so as well so I decided to abandon my search for a 135i and go for my second choice. Found a manual NZ new Evo X with only 34kms on it for a good price, probably wasn't going to last long so I bit the bullet and made a deposit. Will be flying down to Wellington next week (for an hour hahaha) to check it out and probably buy it. Had a pre purchase done and the inspector was impressed with the condition. The only way I would be able to import a good value 135i was if the exchange rate gets better and that could take another 6 months or a year, maybe even longer and I simply refuse to be stuck with a sh*t box for that long. Anyways just wanted to say a big thank you for all the helpful peeps here. Even though I won't be part of the bimmer community we might meet at car events or on the streets Don't forget to say hi, I'll be the short asian guy boosting in an evo (yes I realise there's probably a million people fitting that description lol). Cheers

1 pointGot touring2.0 complete and running and driving after manual conversion. Shifter is nice after replacing all the bushes, drives really nice too but isn't quite running right. Has been sitting for probably two years before it moved today. Struggled to start initially but after some fresh fuel she came right. Ran like poos first time out, noisey lifters, but they quitened up after a few mins. Still ran sh*t tho, missing, smelling like fuel. Checked plugs and, Uhhh, not pretty. After a very good clean up and re gap she ran a lot better but is still hesitant low down and bogging under load. Unsure if conversion related or not as still have auto ecu plugged in and trans fault light on the dash. But from what I've read that's how a lot of guys do it and just take the dash light lamp out. Will do some research and probably get it plugged in for an assessment next week

1 pointIt was an option but I wanted to keep things OE. From my experience the viscus system works bloody well... Ive never had a problem with them.... yet
-
1 pointYeah... hard to walk past an RS4. But seriously challenging maintenance, engine out for almost everything.

1 pointOne of the advantages of living in a dumping ground for used Japanese cars if that we also get the used Japanese car parts market! I doubt any car manufacturer actually makes their own seats so one of the things I did when I started the search for a set of Recaro LS seats was to trawl through photographs of interiors on JDM fanboy sites to see what models they were also fitted to (and I found quite a few)... Have a look at some of the older Recaro designs and see if anything takes your fancy (LS are very similar to the E30 motorsport seats)... You'd be surprised at what is sitting in someone's parts pile here! German quality for very few dollars! And if that what floats your boat you can have them re-upholstered in acres of luminous pink dead cow by someone local! I was fortunate in that I actually found a complete interior from an Alfa... but I did find a lot of good stuff before that! I'm with the others who suggest you start with a plan! Bouncing from great idea to new great idea is just going to flush money!

1 pointYeah, when I bought my Z everybody asked me what I'd buy next. Now they're convinced I can't go better again, I think either an M6 grand coupe or RS6 wagon would do just nicely. I was considering an RS4 avant instead but so far I'm definitely happy with my decision on the bimmer. The 4.2L V8 wouldn't even come close, I just wish the M5 had those nice recaro's.

1 pointI don't think Caribbean upholsterers would be any better than local Upholsterers. Take the seats that are currently in the car, or buy sports seats locally, and take them to an upholsterer who will be able to reupholster them in any material you with, with any design you wish. Save yourself $1k in shipping, customs costs and lost money due to the NZD's current ridiculous weakness against the US dollar.

1 point^ This. Feel free to give me some money, ill find some nice seats, and stick labels on them saying they are made from purebred grain fed unicorns who freely roamed the prairies of venice. Id suggest figuring out a build plan for it first, and work out what ya going for. Its a bit of an odd ball car being LHD and not particularly high spec etc, spending silly money on it is just dumb, spending money on a non M3 E30 isnt exactly financially wise, spending money on a weird one is even less wise Either go period, and find some nice second hand M seats, get em reupholstered locally if it tickles your pickle, or find some period buckets. Another option would be going "ultimate bmw" and finding some late model BMW leather sports seats and getting custom rails made up for em etc. Why not turn it into a 333? Get an M30 and a proper gearbox, or find a later model 3.0 six and swap it over for a modern 333.
-
1 pointSeats made in the Caribbean.. what. Just hunt down some stock motorsport seats. There has been quite a few sets up for sale this year on this forum alone. Make sure you are getting 4 door seats as they are different. If you are not willing to hunt locally and be a little patient for the parts you want you are going to burn money and build a Frankenstein's monster. Get to know the community and the BMW parts guys and you will find the bits you are after.

1 point191km well used 7 series at 7 years old. Cheap to buy, won't be cheap to maintain.

1 pointdrunk guy in town gave me $100 to drive him to the street where the prostitutes hang out, 3 minutes drive from where we were. perfect

1 pointWill get you some prices tomorrow and flick you a text, have access to cheap Conti and Michelin tyres.
-
1 pointYup. I'm the same as all the rest. If things go as planned on Monday I'll own yet another E38 so as much as I like this and wish I could give it a home in my garage I'll have to pass but I cant see it sitting around for long.
-
1 pointEasy... 2 of them. Picked up this tidy NZ-New 99' M5 today. Done 148,000kms. Ex Owner had it for 9 years with an extensive service history.

1 pointWooden handles I bought came from a tan interior so I've painted the plastic parts grey to match my interior. Took a part from the 740i to the paint shop and had it color matched. Primed with plastic adhesion primer then top coat. I'm pretty happy with the results. You'd have to look very close to know it's not original.

1 pointSee it everyday, it's a fact of life. However there is worse things in the world causing more trouble than racism ever has, like religion for example.
