7 pointsFinally got the car back after the shop having it for another week. MUCH better. Three main issues sorted. They even gave the car a decent valet. I can sleep at night now. All I need to do is a bit of minor adjusting and fit the lower trim panel off the old guard.
-
4 pointsChanged the radiator fan yesterday evening, the original one had a chip in it. Thanks to Hellbm for the replacement. Done over 200kms now since the surgery, no leaks so far. Off to get a few power runs at MCR automotive's dyno to see what she's making at the rear wheels.

4 pointsThe measure of a tradey is how they respond to these problems. By owning the mistakes, remedying them, and going the extra mile (valet) shows they were genuine. Of course it should never have been done so poorly in the first place, but some tradies would have taken the money and told you to f**k off. I'm glad it worked out for you.

3 pointsThread title is a misnomer, as are all the comments about the car being a "manual". C'mon guys, don't you know that the 850CSi only came as a 6-speed manual?! Just 1510 units were produced by BMW M - they were an M8 in all but name. This is a January '94 Euro-spec (EG91) car and is quite possibly the lowest mileage example in existence. It should fetch well over $NZ100k - likely to a European or US buyer.

3 pointsAgreed, he said he gave one of the guys a kick up the pants for doing what he did on the car. The boss is a good guy, just busy and has his eye on 1000s other things so it's his workshop manager that let him down. He said today "it wasn't to my kind of acceptable standard"

2 pointsOr instead of being a smartass you could post the first link on google, http://e31wiki.org/wiki/Active_Rear_Axle_Kinematics

2 pointsComments like these make the hard work worth it! Its great for something to be appreciated by fellow enthusiasts, even if it is a wankel. Maybe they should have done this from factory!?

2 pointsThe fact the listing has been there for 6 years is probably a good indication that someone is a sandwich short of a picnic basket

1 pointWelcome to the family, NZ new E61 535d m-sport 2006. 2nd owner (excluding the sales yard that had it for a week or so) All I can say is torque! Just put on some new 19" slippers (new to me), not 100% on the colour of them but might change that or let them dirty up a bit.

1 pointMy 1989 VR-4 (4G63 ftw) had it, it was available since 1988 on that platform. Mitsubishi eventually replaced it with a tricky centre diff (AYC - Active Yaw Control) and that was way, way, way, way better.
-
1 point^ It has some pull, quite different to the 540. More like a gentle shove that increases on force, almost lazy... The 19"s have changed it a bit, more road feedback.
-
1 pointGreat result. Credit to him for acknowledging up & fixing. Initial outcome may well have been outside of his observation.

1 pointSo this happened on the weekend. My initial thought was that some motherf**ker tried to break into the E28, being that it's the quarter window that's smashed......but it was parked at my brother's place, up a shared driveway, during the day, on Saturday. The conclusion was that it must have been the twat next door flicking a tiny stone (only about 3mm diameter, hole straight through the window!) while weed whacking his driveway. He's probably a really nice guy, but f**k him he smashed my window. I assume. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

1 pointMaybe that's why I'm getting so many questions "why is it so cheap"... Hmm. Something to ponder.

1 pointPlate is still registered to M3 haha. But I've already had someone ask - it's had a Government plate on since Feb. Shall amend soon.

1 pointConsidering the rotary was a German engine designed in germany by a german guy for German applications...it's not really thaaaaaat out of place in a bmw.
-
1 pointPretty sure it's Barbados Green and a bad photo. Actual colour is more like this:http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/uploads/cars/bmw/4427637.jpg Quite a few late model 840s in the UK came with the same colour and interior combo as an individual option. Beautiful car but a standard 850i is expensive enough to maintain without tech like AHK steering - prone to failure and expensive to repair!

1 pointI have somewhat of a theory on this. Car dealers, or dealers of any nature that have been around a long time are using the internet, but in the wrong way. Many years ago, when cars were bought off of yards, you could get away with having vehicles for a long time. If we didnt have trademe, forums etc, we would have no way of knowing that vehicle had been on that yard for all these years, then when you drove through Palmy, heaven forbid, you may see the vehicle, feel you've found a good one and the only reason its still for sale is the fact you need to be out there looking. Now, dealers put these cars on the internet, and still work off the old way of doing things. They have no idea that forums etc talk about these things, they may not even know what a forum is, and those in the know, which is the market for these cars, all talk between themselves and come to the conclusions above. It's a bit of a headache but it seems what happens from what I've observed. Same reason prices have gone up, as local markets now no longer exist, as buyers all over the country, even outside, have access to all vehicles for sale.

1 pointI've got Bilsteins, unsure if motorsport or bilstein springs but they handle far better than my other coupes with motorsport struts and lovells/cobras

1 pointI love the extra effort, like bodywork in the engine bay. It looks so good it looks factory.
-
1 pointDepends... How fast does it go? How much can I sell it for? Oh I mean um whats it valued at for insurance purposes... Yeah that's what I meant! :-)

1 pointHaven't bought it yet, but will have it in my driveway in a couple of days (Current owner just arranging his new car) It's not an M3. Although it may as well be. 1996 328i Msport coupe. NZ new, factory manual. S50B30 Rebuilt vanos Tuned M3 ZF geabox e46 Motorsport steering rack M3 bilstein monotube shocks B&G lowering springs Grey suede M3 interior including Vaders Quaife helical LSD M3 sway bars E46 330i big brakes Goodridge Braided brake and clutch lines 18 button obc ACS rear window spoiler Front & rear strut braces PowerFlex front trailling arm bushings M3 instrument cluster Light weight flywheel and clutch BBS RC 18x8.5 in BMW Marrakesh brown Remus exhaust M3 mirrors LTW wing Fenix Alloy radiator. Few other things here and there. Absolutely beautiful conditon. Pics and new thread incoming once I have it and start doing my usual thing, cleaning it, making a list of necessities etc. Drives insanely nicely, much better than the Estoril coupe. Everything feels very tight and well-put together, ridiculous power difference between the s50 and M52.

1 pointdrove my e28 for the 1st time in a while , with its new shoes feels nice to drive again , I could use all the power without it wheel spinning. clock just ticked over 528528km while out fun car to drive , weighs about the same as a 3.2L E36 M3 and less than E46 M3 but with about the same amount of power or more , but makes it it at about 1500-2000rpm lower in the RPM range than the 3.2L engines make there's and still revs out to 7000rpm

1 pointJust installed Goodyear Eagle Assymetric 2s on my E92 335i with 19 inch wheels. HUGE improvements over the runflats. Now my car makes the normal light thump when hitting cats eyes or bumps in the road rather than a 'WHACK' So much smoother and makes me feel more confident in the handling. These are great if you don't want to stretch the budget to Michelin PSS or something, as they're much better than the runflats and cheaper. Might buy a M Mobility kit now. Wanted the Continental kit but can't find anywhere to buy it.

1 pointAnyone keen on any of this m20b20 stuff? Otherwise i will just take it to the metal recyclers. Not after much but thought id just try and help out others before just sending it off to scrap.
