5 pointsHi guys, some of you know i travel all over the north island already, always ex-WGTN with an empty van. Have just started selling my services in Christchurch, and got confirmation today so will be heading there in two weeks (14-17) Taking a pretty well empty van down so if anyone has something bulky to get across the cook straight let me know. Moving forward, certainly won't be as regular as my WGTN-AKL runs or elsewhere in North island as not an ongoing contract, but keep it in mind, may have signed something by the time you need something shifted!

2 pointsHello every one Daniel here happy to finally join the bimmersport family, now I'll get straight to the point and show you all my cars. But basically I love the e30 series I've been brought up with a BMW loving father who drives an 1993 e36 m3 (NZ new) he's owned it for 17 years & his motorbike is an BMW hp2 which I believe there is only roughly 5 in New Zealand. My cars well my first car was a 1989 BMW 316i which I got in late 2014 with 106,000kms, NZ new with full service history and one owner before me factored manual also alpine white coupe. I got it shipped from the top of the South Island all the way over to here to Auckland. Now my second car which I brought last year & I believe a member here used to own it back in 2011..? "James" is my 1989 NZ new 325i Motorsport with a fully rebuilt m20b25 & stroked to a m20b28 using a m52b28 crankshaft. But sadly this car is an absolute rust bucket, shouldn't of passed its wof's and I brought it of a dishonest guy who was saying he wanted to be as much upfront with the new owner as he could. Recently though I've brought a new donor shell a 318i auto in diamond swatchz (excuse my spelling) which is slowly becoming the new Motorsport but any ways enough talking have a look at my cars :-)

1 pointHi all just documenting a few things I am doing to my E30. Have owned it for a while now. Story was it started its life as a auto 2L owned by a sweet old lady that lived out at Huia. Bought it off her a year and a half ago and stuck with it until now. Body is quite rough but i got it for a really good price. Enjoy! We will jump ahead a little, my friends and I finished the manual conversion and also installed Koni sport shocks with lowering springs and a thicker front sway bar. Got some wheels and tires and this cool front lip. Got some smilies, blacked them want to get french yellows for the highbeams at some point. Bought a Rogue short shifter and made a DSSR at work for it Bought some 16" BBS wheels put them on to see how they ride, if they rubbed much and what not. Then sh*t started to get really serious. (Thanks ray@Hellbm) Installed the Shifter rod and shifter to see how it worked. Some rust being attended to Goodies arriving Factory Honing marks FTW Cleaned and painted so while that got taken care of I got on with other things... These 2 had a date with degreaser and a hose Moved house, this is where the magic will happen Starting on the manifolds also started prepping the m20 for removal All done, didn't take long maybe half and hour? Starting to pull the motor Its coming up Built in load leveler FTW! Its coming up! All about angle And out. Le me in engine bay pic (Big thanks to marcus who helped a lot with this) Fitted the Clio booster and Condor engine mounts Then this magically appeared So we got on with putting it in Adjusting the angle I had a fever, so i took many things to keep me going. Getting there Ahh its in. Ahh no its not. That's better. I don't know how to embed. I got it wired up, didn't take very long. Maybe 2 days of trouble shooting, but its was all simple things that i overlooked. http://youtu.be/0vT7jQQLmbw And now we are here. Things to do Throttle cable down pipes Thanks for looking! :thumb:

1 pointmost of the stuff you have done would be considered maintenance by the insurer, and wouldnt factor into the insured value. The wheels, steering wheel, sounds and paint will have to be declared as they are modifications, and may increase the value of the car (or more likely, the premium due to increase in risk). I generally just insure the car for a couple of grand more than i paid, and its usually not an issue. If its something special, then it might be worth getting a pro valuation and having that on record. In my experience, insurers just go off straight book/market value for most cars, giving a set range depending on km of the car (high km will be low end of the scale, low km will be higher end). Ive never had anyone ask me if its been well maintained, just that there are no known issues.

1 pointFrom my experience with engines in general the m10 was, typically of BMWs of the time, slightly over engineered and quite simple. It has famously made huge power figures in various forms and found its way into legend, but it is not magical and like all mechanical things it has limits. I am certain you could build one to rev to 10,000 without self destructing, but there will be a downside, and i suspect the cost will be the first one! On the positive side, because of its age and legend status there are plenty of people out there, including BMW, who have gotten results from the m10 and you have access to a wealth of info about them! I have kept an m10b20 to put into my keeper e21 at some stage, but at the moment an m42 is a better prospect in bang for buck terms. I hope you go fully mental with it because i want to see it done, but from my research it is a labour of love, not common sense!!!

1 pointGot the old compressor repaired and all good but a costly excercise. At least I'll get a refund on the new unit and half the shipping. Had a pretty sh*t day today with the car. Pulled the front spoiler off in the repco car park when the rubber splitter along the bottom caught on the bump stops they have on the parks. Would normally reverse into parks but haven't driven it much lately so wasn't thinking. Fortunately the spoiler was virtually undamaged and only took 5 mins to put back on. Though had to drive home with it sticking out the window. Also found out the previous owner scrimped on the respray. My water blaster pulled a chunk of paint off the bonnet and the red paint underneath was barely sanded. No wonder it hadn't stuck to well. Guess I better start saving for the full repainted.

1 pointWhat a steal! Seriously, are dealers stupid? Yes its low KM (but probably high engine hours), but likely has jatco jerk, and isnt even true motorsport spec. Also, did e36 ever get electric memory seats? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1044886328.htm
-
1 point20 years+ rule. Can go on the road no problem, but why, its got nothing going for it and the low kms mean bugger all when its been sitting for most of its life, probably hot in a warehouse or outside. Like Peter said too, probably done high engine hours = yuck!
-
1 pointNot sure how they will register that, no way it meets current impact or emission standards! If they used the special vehicle category then it was a waste!
-
1 pointWhen i say sit on, i mean weld up the crack, put tyres on them, and keep driving it! Also, decent axle stands $160 a pair!!

1 pointI'm picking up some door cards on Sunday but may need more. Please expalin what "M3" door cards are. And what's the trim on them? Pics? Also assuming that for $250 they're complete, mint and the rear panel cards are included?
-
1 pointSunroof was bad, rear guards had a little bit and front A pillar had some repairs, but was ok. It needed about 2-3k of work to get it mint so I sold it.
-
1 pointThat's my old M325i, even with the problems it has I still regret selling it back in what would be ~2011

1 pointForum rules... a price is required in the For Sales Section on the Forum. Either fix a price or the thread goes AWOL in the morning

1 pointWhat's the use of a build thread without pics? The very talented Jeffrey took some awesome photos at the track day while we were in the pits. Our spot for the day Oh a wild BMW 2L open race driver appears... shits getting serious Marcus had to sort out the relationship between his tires and guards, no snu snu. I also had my fair share of issues on the day. 1st was a minor, my intake elbow had popped off. 2nd was my coolant temps getting very high. Jeff said he was trying to get an "in the moment incognito photo"... lol Simon was not impressed being disturbed during lunch Sam, DanK and Marcus sorting the tire and guard relationship on the drivers side Hell yeah Is this a potato? Juhan showed up later in the day in his very nice AE86. He joined us on the track as well Ah yes valentine's day... a very romantic day for Aalia i'm sure. Partners were free haha Big thanks to Simon, Aalia(great sandwiches btw), Marcus, Raewyn, Sam, DanK and Pange for banter, help fixing sh*t and chocking my car when I rolled back into the pits. It's the little things that make the day great! (also cars... let's not forget cars.) If you want to see more pictures from the day head over to JW Photography NZ and give him a like!

1 pointAt this stage the negative vs positive of them are weighing them out.. When for $400 more can get a set of P Zeros lol.

1 pointI am looking at 003's in 225/45/17 and 245/40/17 for my e46, Tony's quoted $920 in Wellington. Personally I can't stand the stance look and prefer my tyres to match the rims with a square sidewall. I am reliably informed that's the way they are designed to work.
