I tow my race car on an A Frame, like the ute behind the grader. Have had a couple of people try to merge between my tow car and the race car..! The guy that turned to get angry with the driver of the driver-less car was quite confused..

So we ended up making our own socket extension with some steel tube and finally got the automatic transmission out, but what a mission. The surprising thing was the weight difference between the two. The automatic is 95 kg including torque converter and ZF manual only 36 kg (excluding clutch and flywheel).

Have you ever seen someone try to merge like a hammer?... ...between a Grader and the Fulton Hogan ute thats REALLY close behind it, with no driver inside?????

But it didnt take off the original coating on the wheels, only the repaired stuff? Sounds to me like the prep work was sub-standard and the paint didnt adhere properly. Just my 2 cents.

Hey guys, I recently picked up my first BMW, first European car actually, thought I'd say hi I am the proud new owner of a 2002 530i M Sport Here she is I'm still working on a name, nothing has jumped out at me so far, I've been spending last couple of weeks searching forums, googling etc some issues/thing I want to change, but seeing as I'm a novice with BMWs, I get a bit confused with the different chassis, do other problems from one chassis work for my E39 (when i say problems, I'm talking very minor, aesthetic really) and so on, some threads are 5 years old, dead links, missing pics, has something better come out since then and so on. Thats where I'm hoping you guys, with your wealth of knowledge, can point me in the right direction. This probably isn't the right place for my list of issues, so I'll try to keep them in the correct sub-forum. But yeah, if you're from The Naki, keep an eye out for me. Cheers, Dion

I know this has probably been covered before, but i am having trouble understanding the mentality of some NZ business owners! I needed a rebuild kit for the e21 carb, im a realist so i didnt expect to waltz in and buy one off the shelf, but after talking to a local supplier who quoted me $207, i said go ahead and order it, ring me when it gets here. 1 week later i havent heard anything so i call in to see if its arrived ? No, we cant get it, they dont make it anymore would you like to buy a new carb for $1000? No, i reply, i would like to rebuild the carb i have and get this car going so i can sell it. We could order one from italy but i only order once a month so it wont be until the end of the month, should be about $90. I will get back to you, i reply, and leave. I have just spent about 3 minutes on ebay, found the exact kit i need, from a reliable seller, for $102 NZ shipped, and it will arrive before the other guy places his stock order, but i bet he keeps moaning about how hard it is to compete with "the internet". If anyone can explain to me the logic behind this i would love to hear it, in the meantime i will support local businesses who make an effort to help me out.

I've wanted an E9 for as long as I can remember. They are such an important car in the history and story line of BMW. Their success in touring car racing in Europe in the 70's is nothing short of astronomical. All whilst being one of the best looking cars the company has ever produced. Several have come up on Trademe for sale in the last few years but the timing and budget have never quite married up. About 6 weeks ago I decided to bite the bullet and fly down to Christchurch and have a look at one that was for sale down there. Needless to say the car was exceptional, a few issues but in the whole exactly what I was after. So a week later it arrived at work on the back of a truck. Its a 1973 3.0 CS left hand drive in automatic, malaga red with tan leather interior. Sold new in Germany it was imported to Japan where it had a minor restoration and then to New Zealand about 18 months ago. Its going to be a slow process as i still have my E30 I need to sell before i can really start doing anything to it but at least its a start. I've played around with my set of BBS RS off my E30 and cant wait to rebuild them into appropriate sizes and get them on. Also bring the car down to earth a wee bit.

my E36 compact that is my race car was along those lines. my work moved into a new facility, and there was my compact and also a car trailer parked out the back had been there for years. I approached the landlord and after a bit of communication brought both the car and the trailer for $100. never had any further issues with the car, but the trailer i tidied up and sold, and then the previous owner filed a police report that I had stolen it, I explained to the police it was on the property i was leasing for 4 months and we needed the space so the landlord disposed of it (disposed who to is irrelevant in this case). The old owner approached the police after many more months of vacating the property. I got his contact number after the police decided it was a matter for a tribunal court and not their jurisdiction. and so I told him that I would be invoicing him for storage space for the 4 months if we went any further. One way or another the problem disappeared. The main thing I am trying to say, is make sure that you PURCHASE the car, even for $1, from your work or the property owner etc. That way you have another line of defence if it goes sour, and you cannot be done for theft. You may loose the vehicle as with any other stolen goods you inadvertently buy, but the seller would be the one that has sold it to you with potentially no authority to do so.

I used wheel magician many many years ago when i first brought my E34 touring, lasted very well for many years and only every flaked a bit around the wheel bolt holes but then i was taking the wheels off and on far more than what would be considered normal. having said that, yes it did flake, and I'm no painter but i suspect its because they don't in any way bake the paint on there etc as there is no room for an oven in the back of a Mitsi L300

Pretty sure there was a 635CSI and an M635CSI.. But I guess the M635CSI had the M88 and was the "M6" of the time, whereas the 635csi could still be considered Sports

As a Wanganui local born and bred I appreciate the comments above. I think it's a much under rated city that has the best of everything. Brent. I think Stratford would be more central for you being between Wanganui and New Plymouth but is a bit small. New Plymouth has the mountain and some beautiful scenery, lovely parks and some great driving roads. But then again Wanganui is central to New Plymouth and Wellington with Mt Ruapehu up the Parapara's. Nice parks, some great roads and great people..

congratulations on the move! people seem to drive Ford Falcons or Holden Commodores. If they're a little odd, they'll drive Citroen or Saab. It's interesting, Citroen has a long standing in Taranaki (pronounced Tarr-ann-uh-kai) Olaf

Here's a rant I posted on FB only 5 days ago... Here’s a message for the retailers of NZ… Stop f*****g bleating about not being able to compete with online shopping!!!!!!! As a consumer I’m completely over having to continually search for what I what to buy in "Godzown"… and then to be robbed by you for the privilege of buying whatever I’ve been searching for just compounds the insult... If you want me to buy things from you then stock them, don't just trot out the old line "I can order it in for you"! If you do deign to keep whatever in your inventory, please don't expect me to pay 5x the retail cost of overseas and claim it's the cost of shipping… my f******g arse it is!!!! I just can't be bothered dealing with the half arsed b*****t that I'm expected to put up with in NZ… you can go bankrupt as far as I’m concerned! I am completely over having to deal with lazy retailers... Whilst I understand that there is a finite limit to what can be reasonably stocked the last week has been a real education into how people here are being robbed blind in NZ... I'm going to be buying as much as I can from overseas from now on...

I have friends living in Wanganui - they love it there. We've visited a couple of times and really enjoyed it. I know a lot of people have a contrary perception, and our feelings are based on good weather and suchlike. We liked Stratford and Plymouth too, Stratford particularly. Hopefully someone is intimately familiar with the area and can recommend places to live.

So it's been a while since I've updated this. E30 sat like this for about a month while I got this all sorted Ended up sending back the Koni's and the mounts, and getting a set of Bilstein B12s (Bilstein B8's with Eibach springs) Opened the box and was already more impressed with the Bilstein's coming with all the requires bits -Top nut -Dust boot -Something to hold the dust boot -Strut locking collar Old springs were stock 325i springs. So some height differences Fronts: Rears: Finally the fronts all ready to go in. Looking a bit odd with black and blue. And checked out my rear spring pads from the PO. Will be keeping them like this for now. Then some before and afters: Before (stock 325i sedan springs) After (Bilstein B12 sedan) So definitely not the most noticeable of height differences, but the handling has substantially improved. (Probably due to 3 of the 4 shocks needed replaced) Then managed to get the WOF (a month later) Also started cleaning the M52 a bit more. Mmmm under the oil filter housing And then the rocker cover (those bubbles are actually just build up) Mmm delicious
