It really grinds my gears the lack of attention people give to spelling. Especially in the professional work email environment, I take extra care to double, triple check the name of the person I am writing to (even more careful if foreign name) but probably 50% of the people I talk to daily email me as kyo instead of kyu. its bloody 3 letters cant be that hard.. (sorry off topic)

It's pretty stupid... you can register a car as just about anything when it's imported... like a bog standard 318i as a "318i M3" even, just put the badge on the back! or an S3-S, it seems.... ...but my modified Touran with the 3.2 VR6 fitted has 2.0 FSI TIP on the rego sticker, and it CANNOT be changed... unless possibly I imported it back into NZ... from NZ... They won't even let me remove the submodel, so it just says Touran, or even change it to "Trendline" which is the real submodel anyway ... so I have to stick to my current fix: and yes... the 20z look stupid.

Oh it will. I did learn one important lesson. NEVER work for the Government. It feels like every department is full of people who failed at what the actually wanted to be. Yet they still scramble over each other to get the next shitty role.

M52 b25 runs the 2.0 manifold I believe and some very boring tuning. The difference in real world torque is negligible, the m50 is the nicer to drive of the two. The rod to stroke ratio is certainly better with the m50 but with such piss poor cam specs and low rev range your advantages of tdc/bdc dwell time and cylinder filling is really not a lot at all. As far as I know the valves are the same between both variations of 25 and the b28 also

Coolant flush completed. Engine hot, heater controls on hot, pop the expansion tank cap, release the bleed screw (next to the expansion tank cap. Now, where's the rad drain plug...? Actually - that's a great question. Where is it??? I know where it should be but there's nothing there. (Not easy to find any =way because of the position of the oil cooler, but all the same.) OK - pop the hoses off the engine, stick a hose pipe (gently) into the expansion tank, and wait until water coming out of the engine runs clear. Of course, this means the engine is now full of water, so reconnect the bottom hose, and slowly pour coolant into the expansion tank. Once it runs green from the engine, replace last hose and check everything over. Start car, wait, and... Heater blows hot air. Seems unlikely to be an airlock. ? Result. Unfortunately, the previous owner had a boyfriend who was a 'mechanic'. He's removed the cabin filter housing (and the rubbers, the plastic engine trim, and carefully put it all in a box in the boot. Such a shame he didn't think to include the special torx-head screws that are used when fitting... ? Plan for tomorrow is to pull the wheels, see what they actually are, check the suspension... Oh - paint is Graugruen metallic. Some small dents, some scratches (especially on the boot where something has been slid across it). Nice colour.

Do you value good handling over just being low? I'd suggest just looking for a suitable shock/spring combination. You'd get better quality for you money, and you won't need a cert.

I feel your pain, so many people struggle with Jon... not only is it in my e-mail address, it's also in the signature at the bottom as well FFS...

huh, aren't you trying to get rid of some wheels..?? Style 32s though - always a good choice!

The change should be allowed under the cert process

Lesson of the day; If you want to modify a car with different engine etc like Allan, make sure you import the base car you are starting with and register it in advance as what you want it to be, e.g. VW Touran 3.2 Big Boss VR6 EpicMVP the Shiznit, and THEN do the mod. Or stick with twink on the rego sticker

Can't see any listed, not even sure if the Laguna Seca is available on the current M3/M4 models. Back to @MissBM, would madam consider the M3 CS in San Marino Blue... I think it would suit madam very nicely..? Or if she prefers we do have a fine selection of Individual Paint coloured M3s available shortly..?

Okay, I worked out how to fix that ^ mechanical tensioner. 1. Drive 12 mins to Zebra Pick-A-Part 2. Spend 3 mins finding the only 6 cylinder BMW that's there 4. Take 5 mins to test and remove hydraulic tensioner 5. Pay $15 6. Drive 12 mins home 7. Spend 10 mins installing new tensioner and belts 8. Victory dance The problem with Pick-A-Part is coming home with more than you intended... practically mint.

Hi all, The continuing saga of my BMW, not only have I spent slightly more than the purchase price in repairs etc, I have now managed to hit a dog whilst travelling to work. Was doing 100 km/ph at the time, on rural roads, at 3am! Unfortunately the dog died, a dark coloured Labrador. Damage to my car, that I know of, is to the left front of the car. Namely- fog light, lhand lower grille section, cracked lower bumper, paint damage/ cracking to bumper, broken engine under tray, and popped out bumper on left front. After a wee bit of internet searching and stalking, I was able to get the dog owners name, as the son would not give me their name. Luckily for me, after a letter from my Insurance Company, the dog owner forwarded a claim to her Insurance Company, which has resulted in me not having to pay my excess etc. The car is being repaired by Prestige Collision Repairs, in Hamilton, and I am due to get the car back on Monday. What next........!! Graeme
