3 pointsI'm pretty impressed with Weber's (BBQ's) customer service. I need new burner tubes for my 6yo "Family Q" (3200) and they're not supplied at retail. Smart Marine gave me the email address to reach, I sent them an email over the weekend, they replied on Tuesday. I wasn't able to reply to them with the requested photos until after 5pm on Tuesday but received an email reply less that 15 minutes later that my replacement parts will be with me in 3-5 days, no charge. Happy with that. I don't mind paying a margin for quality products with quality service standing behind it. Well done Weber.

2 pointsContinental Cars are at least focusing on BMW... MGs are goneburger to Gazley... and yes fingers crossed for positive change and more general brand enthusiasm/support. Lots of work to rebuild their profile, image and reputation and we can only hope that the new owners inspire the staff to warm up and get enthusiastic. Leaders/owners can have a huge impact. 2 pointsYup it helped. Restored. It was deleted when I deleted a spam post from my mobile which somehow deleted the entire thread even though that's under the mod section only.

2 pointsThe issues are twofold. SH2, SH51, SH50 (etc including SH1) are maintained and managed by NZTA. NZTA are useless - they fail at planning, they fail at implementation, they fail at contract management. They seem to rely on others for quality control. These are the guys who bought a 4-lane wide stretch of land through Hawke's Bay, past Napier, then had a single carriageway road built. In the centre of that strip of land, so any plans to expand will disrupt traffic in both directions. Why not build to one side? There's no answer to that, suggesting it was purely and simply a cock-up. They then decided that the road they'd had built was unsafe, so they disrupted traffic for months which wire ropes were installed down the centre. And in some places, down the sides. Regional roads are managed by District Councils, and there's no single source of funding, no overall control, no single contract management operation. It's done district by district (not even region by region). Downer seem to own many subsidiaries who too often deliver a sub-standard service on regional roads. This isn't a criticism of those working on the roads although I've seen some individuals who are pretty useless too - when you see the same person sitting, standing, leaning, smoking, playing with a phone and generally doing anything except working, day after day, regardless of the time you pass through, it's hard to see what they are bringing to the job. It's the fundamentals of the operation - the techniques, design and implementation - which are at fault. Once that's been decided, Mr Roadworker is left with little option but to follow instructions. And NZTA must bear the brunt of the blame for that. Big government group, apparently not overseen (that job must currently fall to Michael Wood?) and with no apparent expectation of improving delivery.

2 pointsShould have met up. Could have helped me change all the coolant hoses. 😑

1 pointAgreed, it just doesn't suit my BBQ needs at the moment. When I got the Weber 6 years back I laboured over this choice... eventually I'll have both. 😎

1 pointJust completed the following: Rocker cover gasket kit incl new bolts Drive belt, tensioner, idler Oil filter and Oil cooler gaskets 5L antifreeze Decided to leave the Sump gasket, Thermostat and Water pump for now as no apparent issues. Also forgot about the DISA check until too late! From a "noobie" experience, I found it all quite daunting, the on-line videos were helpful and some unhelpful Videos dont tell you how to undo all the clips (some were obvious, others mind-numbing) and how much wiring to remove so there was enough access to lift the rocker cover off. In the end I found George Austers guide the most helpful (he has other guides, also used his CDV delete one with success!)

1 pointWe are saving all our pennies for the Auckland tram. 😂 On a related note, I drove SH16 Auckland to Whangarei today. OMG.... I feel like I’ve been in a fight after driving over the road, my poor F30. M-Sport suspension is not built for this!

1 pointOkay, "less deductions" perhaps. BMW did make changes on '05, in addition to recommending 10w60 ('03?) so the risk is (should be?) lower. Having said that, pretty much every M car of that era has the same problem so I'm not sure BMW actually worked out how to prevent it. Subframes can be repaired correctly although it's more difficult in a 'vert because of where the roof folds in. Regardless, I'd still want to check it properly.

1 pointWith the 4 cylinders f20s just need to watch the cooling system otherwise solid machines

1 pointSpotted a good patch on a road the other day. I swear it looked like someone had dropped a lump of hotmix in the hole and then stomped it down by foot. it didnt fill the hole, or touch all the edges. B+ Will fail again soon.

1 pointbeen away on holiday just got back so havent been looking. I think the pricing varies a lot on these. you can get a basic one for 10k or even less but it can sometimes go upto 20k which is stupid imo. These cars are good if you get it around the middle price range which is how much our ed30 nz new 42km 1 owner example cost. msport and kms determine the price significantly but more importantly look for a well optioned one. things like big screen, big info screen on cluster, keyless entry/comfort access, electric seats etc are all optional and will vary from car to car. reliability wise, air intake pipe (rubber) will crack open eventually, waterpump thermostat, otherwise pretty solid. oil changes important, if you plan to tune then you will need an oil cooler at least as the engine oil does get hot. very reliable and good on fuel, ours currently shows 7.5L/100km mixed driving. could be better. quick and nimble, zf8 is awesome, only bad side is car feels a bit "light" especially with electronic steering but this could also be a positive thing. its an easy car to drive. post up any examples you find on tm and happy to give me 2c. msport definitely looks best but if you end up paying too much for it, why not just pay a bit more for a f30 320i/328i or a f20 125i or even M135i? haha

1 pointCan’t decide which I hate worse, the crystal aftermarket headlights or the M3 badge on the side skirts.. Easy enough to remove and replace but that’s a pretty high price

1 pointThe M25 around London was started in 1975, and at that time they used concrete as the road surface. Its still there after 45 years.

1 pointI’ve done the retro fit on my e46 M3 a number of years ago. I originally brought the brackets of trademe but it was minus the covers. I ended up ordering the retrofit kit via BMW NZ dealer. install is straight forward. Worst part for me was carefully cutting the parcel shelf. Other than that it does take time to remove the rear parcel shelf on a e46. Rear seat side bolsters need removing and. C pillar trims and then top half of rear set before you can start removing the clips holding on the shelf . Then headrests and speaker covers

1 pointI didn't use the dealer but it wasn't for want of trying. Was going to use Winger in Wellington but it wasn't worth 4 figures to me to update it 🙄 Coombes Johnston in Hamilton and Hawkes' Bay BMW quoted a much more reasonable price - PM me if you want details for self-updating. I think Carplay requires new hardware for pre-mid 2016 build cars Also not technically something done to my car, but joined NZ BMW Car Club! 😎

1 pointI can’t add anything beyond what others have said and that I agree with all of it. I too suffer from anxiety and it can be crippling if I’m honest. Just remember, it’s actually perfectly okay to have these feelings (you’re not crazy) and more than you realise appearing outwardly fine are fighting various internal battles. I think there is some comfort in knowing others are going through it and you’re not alone. Exercise, even 30 mins of walking briskly around the block can give a boost to keep you going. The trick is to realise your early triggers/signs so you can take care of yourself.

1 pointI'll charge both thanks. It costs to run my vehicle x amount per km. And it costs for my time. Otherwise I'm better off to do jobs close by / at the workshop and actually get paid for my time rather than drive around for free.

0 points@balancerider yeah same staff who have no interest in second hand BMWs.

0 pointsI've had two weeks sick leave, and a week of annual leave before that which was booked for me - I'd actually work at least 10 hours of that week but they booked me out on annual leave for the whole week in my absence. Something else to sort. Then there was a 'recommended' 8 more days annual leave taken over the Christmas period. Exactly what I wanted to do before Christmas. Agreed it with the doctor - then the 'cafe' meeting took place where that was vetoed by a manager and I was (effectively) told not to return to the office until after Christmas.
