Yeah... no idea, it was one of these behemoths... https://www.trademe.co.nz/trade-me-motors/car-parts-accessories/batteries-chargers/auction-2960727132.htm Buying this car in 2020 was a real highlight, right up there with Covid 19 🤣

Except that its not. No mention of motorsport engines, only road car engines.

the triangle is due to low fuel, the 012 is the trip meter in kms. if possible the LCI is a bit nicer than pre LCI (aka facelift) but cant really go too wrong with these cars

Thanks for the reply! I didn't know they had two different sites, just got in contact with them through email and got that information. Will give the uk site a go. Ya their products seem to be really good

I recently brought a car from Christchurch and I'm an hour north of Wellington. Some flights and ferry crossings are pretty cheap right now. I would fly up and drive back. No way it will cost that much. Check the general discussion for shop recommendations although personally I think the AA is fine. Nothing cryptic about these cars and the AA can spot a leak.

Way less rattley than a WRX, doesnt have the same big turbo torque lump in middle of rev range, but otherwise heaps of fun. Stuff breaks, same as any other car, if you can swing a spanner and are happy to order parts online they are not expense to own or maintain though, and are otherwise very reliable. The things that sneak up on 130s this vintage, if hasnt been maintained well, is oil leaks. Id get someone who knows what they are looking at (not AA etc!) to have a poke around and under it before handing cash over, if the sump gasket is pouring oil out for instance its about an 8 hour job to fix (and makes a good bargaining argument)

The car market is quiet. It seems like a good deal, although I personally couldn't live with those wheels. Check the service history for waterpump, gaskets, etc and also what brand of tyres and how much life left on them then make an offer.

The tint got partially re-done/fixed and is 90% all good now (if I'm being pedantic). Not sure I'll go to them again though.. In other news. Scored a cheap set of Bilstein B16 for the touring, no plans to slam it as it's already low enough but should be a decent handling and ride quality upgrade. All goes well I'll have them in over the upcoming long weekend. Also went to the well known wrecker mentioned above... Seriously annoyed with the dude as the steering wheel was nowhere near as good or as described/confirmed prior to. Had a 5mmx5mm patch of missing leather right at 12 o'clock position as well as a few decent pressure marks and scratches. He was super casual about it, sort of "don't like it don't buy, someone else will" or "I'm sure you can fix that”, annoyingly I had to drive 90km return trip to find that out. Somewhat typical of a wrecker.

This one is still expensive but at least $100 less expensive: https://www.mrpositive.co.nz/bosch-s6-950cca-105ahr-agm-stop-start-battery Does the car have stop/start? If not, or if you can disable it, you won't need an AGM battery, save a further ~$300.

Don’t think I could afford something with that engine right now aye.

Far out. 125k Time to scrap it. Just ticked over 250k on the x5 diesel and you’d never guess, just completed 2,800 km’s around the South Island and it didn’t miss a beat... well, maybe an exhaust manifold crack part way though the trip, but it was on the original manifold and it still performed effortlessly. My N54 has noticeable injector noise at idle when you stand outside the car. Was far more noticeable if you parked next to a wall which seemed to amplify it.

Finally the fronts are done... I'm going to get the fluid flushed and a re-bleed soon, the pedal's not as high and hard as I'd like and, whilst the existing fluid looks okay, I have no idea how old it is. Regardless of the tools or technique I use I've never been able to successfully bleed brakes so the pedal feel is probably operator incompetence. I did do a good job of getting brake fluid everywhere though! 👍

I swore by that Pro-ma stuff with my Evo and GSR back in the day. Worked amazing but you needed to add it in every couple of oil changes. However as said above, direct injection injectors are really noisy and can sound like lifter tick. Are you sure it's not just that?
