Very timely! Package arrived yesterday from David of Parts-friend.com Very quick delivery (delayed slightly by FedEx) and all parts are oe/oem. All well packaged with nil damage, even the radiator and E30 bonnet foam are in good knick. Ill be using Parts Friend from now on. Replied to emails within 24 hours.

Great start to the weekend - got an ECU tune + burble / crackle map done and most importantly got my my rev hang fixed which has been a pet peeve since I've had the car - I had learned to drive around the rev hang (slowing shifts down), feels much sharper and lighter now. Car feels livelier, although probably Placebo, but it is definitely driving almost as good as it looks now Sounds good too - the burbling / crackling is obvious on deceleration but not obnoxious as the Supersprint is a reasonably quiet muffler.

Traded my seemingly unsellable TVR for a whale.

Those N55’s are nice, but I’d go with the diesel especially if towing. Just returned from 3k of towing the boat around the South Island and they’re effortless and economical. Having had petrol and diesel SUV’s. Their heft is far more suited to diesel.

Finally have managed to complete I guess this car to a point where I'll take a wee rest... Replacement bumpers and bootlid now on. Did my own painting, sanding, cutting and polishing with a pretty OK result in the end... Remade "BMW582" has gone on and the all important "M" badge 😲 to complete the (now) NZ new type look. Just an annoying oil leak remains which I fear is the driver side top chain cover which I don't think is a small job. It may have to wait a little....

Hi all, Very new to four wheeled BMW ownership. I have my second bavarian motorcycle in the garage as well. I recently picked up a fairly well maintained 1987 525e from Motueka to use as a daily driver. I'm well chuffed with my purchase. I don't think the price could go much lower for a car like this before it starts to head back upward. It's a bit rough around the exterior with paint fade and some rust that will need attention before too long. Also missing its auto shifter knob and needs a heater switch valve (anyone?). Looking forward to learning more from the group. Cheers

The acceleration with the 3.38 is fantastically responsive, and great for onramps or when you're wanting to do some really spirited driving, but I've found myself not always wanting to drive the car like I used to, takes too much effort. Anyone got a diff off of a manual lying about that I can take off your hands? If so, name your price Cheers

Yes I agree, I went with a 40d 225kw 600nm. I did have a drive in a 35i and thought it a decent engine with enough torque but the 40d is a powerhouse Diesel and won me over. It will tow a boat and have 5 mountain bikes on the back so the Diesel made more sense in the end.

Replaced the passengers door mirror with a pick a part item in the correct colour, old one had had the cover glued on at some stage and it fell off at the last meet, new one has scratches and stone chips pre - installed so fits right in!!

Haha love my 3.38, but yeah a lower ratio would probably make those 1st to 2nd shifts nicer

They do have a stigma with a great deal of people and that affects the resale price.. Bit like monolithic clad 1990 homes. https://autotalk.co.nz/news/red-flag-singapore-imports

Im currently driving the F25 X3 35i N55 with ZF8 and Xdrive - Its fantastic. Less noisy than a diesel, plenty of power across the board, cool turbo woosh noises, and of course the fantastic 8 speed gearbox. As reliable as any other BMW, the N55 just really needs good oil and regular oil changes, typical cooling system parts, probably the plastic charge pipe. Nothing else major (Ive owned the N55 for over 2 years in the M135 remember?) Fuel economy wise mine is sitting on 9.5L/100km for mixed highway/crawling traffic driving and I dont nanna it.

Hi there. Christchurch based, West Melton. First post, member for some time when I had a 2007 335 Coupe but never posted and moved it on as I'm a liitle less able to climb in and out of them as I used when "I wore a younger man's clothes"!! Moving on a few years and I'm back where I belong. 2001 740i in Titan Silver with black leather. Had a 2001 in Anthracite with grey Nappa leather back in Aus but sold it when we retired over here just over 7 years ago. Regretted the sale ever since. Fast forward to today when I picked this up. Came down from the North Island. One owner, 88k on the clock and M pars factory supplied. All original paperwork with vehicle from Shelley BMW in Wellington, $160k new!! Absolutely beautiful with only a few niggly things to fix. Cheers Archie

Hi all. I recently bought a 2005 bmw e61. It has a few things that need fixing. I'm looking forward to bringing this e61 back to it's former glory. So far I've managed to fix the panoramic roof. It was previously disconnected. Hopefully I may have some knowledge I can pass on and also may need some help from you in the future.
