Big day today with all the new suspension parts installed by Kerry at Mosens. Plus new fuel filter. car sitting pretty just after installation will be getting alignment Wednesday and then a decent drive home and some time for it all to settle in. The difference in feel and composure was immediately noticeable even on the sedate drive home. Less diving under brakes, better acceleration and better steering. Can’t wait to hit the open road.

Not sure if this has already been posted already but there is a trio of E31s for sale in New Plymouth. All are auctions so will be interesting to see what they sell for. The cars: - 95' 850csi with an ACS kit, RHD. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/other/listing/3325771764?bof=WUxN4CXo - 91' 850i with csi running gear installed, LHD with an ACS kit. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/other/listing/3325817894?bof=WUxN4CXo - 98' 840i Individual in Lila Metallic. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/other/listing/3325799712?bof=WUxN4CXo Quite the collection! All look to be in good condition and are close to one of a kind spec-wise, especially in NZ. Photos taken from the trademe listings.

Tidy, 325i ‘vert at Eastern Beach Sunday arvo. I didn’t notice the young lady in the drivers seat until after the photo. If you’re on here - sorry if I seemed a bit stalky! 🤦🏻

That 2006 one looks like it got dragged out of fukushima, check out the plastics and the screen!

One sold for $8.8k recently. Perhaps they saw that and are perceiving a market value based on it. I'm not sure.

15k must cover the cost of a full tank of gas that it comes with

Will it be safe to say the the seller is a ‘collector’ of 8’s? 😁. An awesome trio but the Dakar CSI is interestingly cool! It is the pick of the bunch for me 😎

For sale 200$ used E39 530i (6 cylinder only)Msport 2 shocks and springs. Shocks are past their best but top hats bumpstops etc are in good condition only few years old. The springs are original but still in really good shape. Front control arms. Left side only included. Original but no rips in the boots and feel firm. I’ve just replaced all of this with new msport 2 setup. Selling as a complete package. Pick up Hamilton.

Hi all I am looking for 4 BMW pop off plastic wheel centres for my 1992 E34 525i Touring. There's a lot of conflicting stuff on the net and I've already bought the wrong ones once and I don't fancy wasting my money again. They don't have to be OEM, but obviously I want them to look good if I'm going to the expense of refurbing the wheels. Any leads would be appreciated. Nathan

That's a funny story. I think by 2006 I was onto my M635csi and was living in Birkenhead happily married ! I hope this red 635csi goies to a good home. Fabulous old sharks - and one of the prettiest designs by BMW. Still look great today!

I did the swap myself in my E30 about 5 years ago, and it cost me around 6k including the cert. Mine was manual to begin with. Prices these days for most of the parts have gone up, so ballparking maybe 10? Don't forget the exhaust. If you're not handy with a welder, that can get pricey.

Replaced the vanos seals for good measure, the old ones certainly were loose in the bores like some. Head and top valve cover clean as you'd would expect from a car like this.

Headers are a lot of work it turns out, who would have thought First tube is complete apart from being finish welded at least ... I'm 'ok' with the result. The major learning is that next time I'd probably go with pie cuts instead of the tight 1D donuts. The donuts are only welded one side and if you close the gap you end up with an under sized diameter. So I will have a whole lot of little gaps to fill in at the end 😕 When i get to the tubes for bank 2 it will get a lot harder as the tubes are almost completely made of 1D sections 😭 Anyhow I will be cutting segments for pipe 3 today and hopefully getting some bits tacked together. Pics of where things are at ...

And we're off and cutting !!! Got my first 90 cut out and the others ready for cutting tomorrow. The funky one in the middle is for the merge collectors ... hopefully I can get all 6 out of the same plastic as it took about 20h to print. The printer will be on night shifts again making more 'molds' for other segments. In other news and projects started but not finished, I am turning an old ATX power supply into a useful benchtop unit to power the gauge cluster etc while I work on that angle. No pics as its just a bag of parts from Jaycar at the moment

Some updates: Got gifted a second hand b20 radiator from a fellow bimmer enthusiast (massive thanks to him). Has some cosmetic differences but doesn’t leak so definitely a plus! Managed to finally fit it this week, transferred the electric fan, and got the coolant in. Still smoking, so definitely still due to go to the mechanic for a leak down test. But the coolant that leaked looked dirty but didn’t seem to have oil mixed in with it, so hopefully nothing too significant! IMG_1213.MOV Realised that the fan wasn’t engaging at all and the temp was climbing more and more when idling (definitely can’t use during the week at the moment in Auckland traffic!). So hopefully will have time to suss that out this weekend! Upon reflection on this past week, although there’s been setback upon setback, I’ve actually been quite thankful that I’m physically able to work on a car. Have been thankful for fellow enthusiasts that I can ask/hassle about car problems and good old google (A little context to that is my CV in working on a car is very short. It literally has only been changing oil, putting a spare tyre on, and replacing a head unit). Another highlight of this week has been a mate of mine teaching me how to drive a manual car (yes I bought a manual car that needs work without knowing how to drive one and without ever really working on a car 😂). Definitely put a smile on my face being able to finally drive the car and cruise back home. Even ended up doing some accidental burnouts on the way 😆. Excited what else is to come and learning experiences to pick up. I’ve been compiling a list of what I want/aim to do to the car - feel free to chime in your 2cents. (In no particular order and still not final) - Engine rebuild (gaskets, etc.) + m50 manifold - Cooling system overhaul - Retrofit AC - Coilovers vs spring/shocks - Stainless steel brake lines - Fix the wiring - Strip, treat rust, repaint to dark green - Clean all surfaces and replace all fluids - Wheels and tyres (? RE-003) - ? replace sound system - ? Tech 2 fibreglass kit - ? 5 stud conversion (mixed feelings about this, seems too expensive for just expanding wheel options. Also apparently caster is all wrong even if done properly)

Decent box of suspension parts arrived from fcp last week. All the front and rear bump stops, spring pads etc needed in preparation to refresh the shocks, struts and springs around September.
