Update... E60 M5 Going great - thoroughly enjoyed it on the last two club runs (Wairarapa and Feilding). Need to sort the paint bits and pieces F30 335i Daily driver going well - still get a bit of rattle despite the engine cover being re-fastened by two mechanics 🤔 E53 X5 4.4i intermittent ABS trifecta continued - so had it in at Driscolls for troubleshooting - faulty brake light switch replaced, steering angle sensor checked and recalibrated - but it ended up being a faulty pressure sensor in the brand-new ABS pump from the final MBI claim!!! Good to have it sorted but there goes more $$... 🙄 Plenty of labour and a $600 pressure sensor. Noticed a clicking on right lock when in the car park at work - in at Driscolls again and turned out to be CV joint... RF boot was torn etc. Looking at my notes in here - this was a 'fix soon' item from 2019... 🤦‍♂️ Driver's seat leather needs a clean and tidy up again... Xmas holidays job I'd say. Wife's Mazda Atenza - sold via TradeMe and replaced with a 2012 Audi Q3 Quattro S-line 2.0TFSI. She loves it and it is a nice vehicle, but ... not so happy with it today! Check engine light, EPC (Engine Power Control) warning light on and engine running rough. It's getting towed tomorrow morning for dealer and MBI to resolve 😕 And in other news I have acquired a 2001 E38 750i SWB individual - which Jon is working on at his leisure... Special? Yes. Sensible? Unlikely...

Last update here sadly - car sold very quickly and went to its new home today (neighbour of good friends of ours so may get to see it again in the future). Very confident it's going to a good home where it will be garaged as a weekend car. It was looking and sounding particularly good as it disappeared up the road and out of sight - a bittersweet moment for sure. Now, need to send some serious time and money to get the E30 to the same level, especially the interior!

Yup, got the exact number I had plugged into my "E30 Resto Spreadsheet" 🤣 TradeMe advert didn't have anything that isn't here aside from a few 'non glamour' photos:

Jeez, that was quick! I didn't get a chance to jump onto your trademe advert for a snoop. Hope you got a price you're happy with! 👍

Damn, you move too fast for me. Glad you got your asking price and a quick sale for this beauty.

Was it this one? Took a few photos of it at Caffeine and Gasoline in July. Had a distinctive un-painted carbon bootlid and the BBS wheels

Shame to see it go, but hope we get to see a thread on the E30 soon

Yup, certainly not a rational decision I know, hopefully my E30 will be at a similar standard in 6-12months.

but it has working aircon (rare) 12-20k + GST LOL. What kind of moron comes up with these prices.

You have an optimistic view of Bitcoin and that's fine. It was likely invented with good intentions, but the reality is somewhat different. What we currently have in an imaginary currency powered entirely by greed that is become a speculative investment for high rollers. Sort of like horse racing but without the horses I fully support a money exchange system that bypasses the middlemen and their fees. However, I am very uncomfortable with a non-regulated tech heavy system that is beyond the comprehension of the vast majority of people who could benefit from such a system. There is a quaint old-fashioned idea that technology should serve the needs of the people and improve the lives of everyone. Unfortunately, in recent times this concept has become perverted and technology has gained the upper hand. Now people serve the needs of technology and the products that we are told that we need are simply the result of the latest tech developments. If a person does not have a roof over their head or food on their table they do not need an EV, no matter what big tech might think. Cheers...

Lachs = Salmon. Like Salmon, looks very different in changing light. 'liquid mercury' - exactly! I'm not biased, quite possibly the best of the silvers/greys. It goes with my hair, anyway! 😁

Beauty! Would have snapped it up at the beginning of the year, was looking for a black touring but ended up settling for a 325i, which I'm about to start undertaking a b30 swap on in the coming months. Best of luck with the sale, looks to be a stunning example.

I would say: E34 540i - 4 headlights, V8, cheap, say no more E87 130i - Cheap, good power, good reliability, who cares if it used to look a bit suss, Msport design has aged really well

https://www.trademe.co.nz/3364704877 Mine 🤣🤣 Jesting aside, I find these 130i models an absolute steal. Performance, looks, sound 😍 Not as fast as the 135/335 models but fewer things to go wrong.

Well the next issue popped up, alternator packed a sad on a weekend drive few weeks back. Luckily only close to our off-ramp and I could get it home and then down to our mechanic. New alternator, being water cooled PITA so left it up to the mechanic for this one also. Under $2k all up, pretty happy and we got a good deal on a genuine pump for $1200 in that. Well that’s all the big ticket items now, hopefully ……… At least it’s back and running sweet now

The exhaust finally sold, booked in and had Hyperdrive come out with the mobile van to fit some Michelin PS4s. Absolutely chuffed with how much better the car looks vs the black wheels.

So after being away for a transmission rebuild and to address the driveline shudder at the same time, today she is back ! It’s been forever for various reasons but now she’s back. Albeit my wallet is significantly lighter. Fantastic difference having the trans and drive line back up to spec, that’s mounts, driveline, trans and all suspension and bushings replaced now. Finally next job is paint tidy up. Headliner and rear shelf, I have a few parts to get in on the next free weekend as well. Probably need wheels refurbished as well …..

Awesome, nice to see an M5 E60 be save from retardation. They make a lot more sense to me in stock specification. Will look the part with the stock rims back on too... Pilot sport 4S spec tyres are probably the go? Bet you enjoyed the quieter stock exhaust on that drive!

Thanks to qube I've got my hands on some really tidy Style 166M wheels. Just need to decide on what tyres I'll be fitting.

Didn't have alot of time between rain this weekend, got some small stuff tidied up. Replaced the aftermarket M5 emblem on the back, the OEM part from BMW had a plastic film over it to hold everything in place to space it the M and the 5 correctly when fit. I checked the placement, which was ok. Removed the window stickers and glued the left hand cup holder back together which didn't help it working any better.

First small job was to sort out the godawful (in my opinion) tail lights, I've also replaced the black BMW badge prior to the photo's below.

Couldn’t resist a good long run down through Cambridge and back home. 300ks felt great, always more to do though .... Firepot is always a good stop

Well I got a set of Style 101s which where a cost option upgrade on the E65. Staggered 20s which I wasn’t super sure on, but in the end am very happy with the result. I think they suit the style without being super OTT. Rides great and zero rubbing, perfect offset and fit. They need a little work however for $800 with Pilot Super Sports that have 3-4mm left I can hardly complain ?

Ok so been away for a paint, bit of a mission. Used a guy I heard off, knew it would be cheap and really wanted to tidy it up. Unfortunately it’s a great 2M job, and good 1M job and definite areas of average up close, em well, it was a cheap respray. On the upside all the messy coloured panels are now the same, fading and peeling clear coat all gone, front bumper done and colour coded rocker panels completed. If I want a better job I’ll probably get it wrapped, at least the base is better now. Now I’m after sorting the wheels, 19’s or 20’s and likely a dish look, if I can stretch to some softlines all the better. Then headliner replacement.... on it goes Still better then being the bird I hit on the way down to the tron last week ?

Managed to score some genuine low mileage replacement tail lights for $50 each. Bargain really. Nothing much wrong with the old ones but certainly not as dull and in better condition so they can move to the parts cupboard. Some before and after pics.

Replaced heater control valve and tensioner pulley, old one was pretty fried! Putting it mildly, whole thing collapsed Still got a squeaking belt so have ordered a replacement hopefully that cures it ...
