6 pointsNecroposting! Yeah, she's my baby. I had it repainted, and some work done (Camshaft grind, valves, polishing of Conrods, lightened Crankshaft & Flywheel, polished Cyl Head, Face & Cut Valve Seats, Bore Block, Oil Pump, New Pistons, Rockers, main & big end bearings, Clutch Set, Motec M48). Yes, unfortunately it sits (securely) in storage, and oddly I can't find a more recent picture than 2007 1st photo is after re-spray and when it went into storage. (back when taking photos was hard). The colour looks better in person. 2nd photo is pre-respray.

4 pointsMy new Anthrazit Uberkaro shift / Handbrake boots arrived today - look great with the Condor gear knob - will most likely go this way (Dark Uberkaro) with the interior, perhaps with charcoal Alcantara bolsters 😎 My Reverse RDS Radio is also en-route from BMW Radios - modified with Bluetooth / custom text / RCA pre-outs - should keep a great factory look with a good connectivity - not much cheaper than the Blaupunkt SQR46 but looks better IMO. My Sunroof winder also arrived which is great because I can rock the '80's tilt' but it sucks because now I know I need to do get some relatively significant rust work done 😳 There is significant visible rust on both rear inner edges of the Sunroof cassette, although the roof skin looks clean (from the part I can see without removing the headliner) Definitely a bummer but at the end of the day I knew I was going to be spending a lot on this thing and I'm in it for the long haul. Guess I'll just recalibrate the budget again!

3 pointsFurther confirmation of my long held belief that sunroofs are the devil's work.

3 pointsYeeeaaauuuuuurrrp Here are the bank 2 headers finish welded apart from the flanges. Not sure how I am going to rectify the distortion caused by the welding just yet ... a real bummer and something the experienced header builder would expect. Should have build and welded one or two sections as I went. Still, they look good in a picture

3 pointsSold it to a 24 year old real estate agent. He loves it. But he bought it less the motorsport kit and I still have the manual conversion parts too. I will be selling them separately if anyone is interested.

3 pointsMuch has happened since my last update. Most significantly, I discovered why I was quoted 10k to repaint the car. The prep work required for a good paint job is ridiculous. I spent many many hours sanding, filling, sanding, filling and sanding some more before I was satisfied with the surface to paint it. I got very lucky with my spray gun set up. I had been watching trademe for a while looking for air compressors and spray guns, and I eventually found what I was after - a guy who had bought all the right, top quality gear brand new but didn't want it anymore and was flicking it cheap. I got a toolshed 50L 13CFM belt driven compressor, a W400 IWATA, a .8mm Finixa and a whole bunch of paint prep gear all for less than half of what it would have been brand new. I got 2L of DeBeer paint from LinkUp paints for $328 (ouch), which turned out to be more than i needed. Sanding down the rusted stone chips Leveling the paint with filler A couple base coats later Note mistake number 1 and 2 of many - The hard tape line on the pillar and not removing the rear window. In order to remedy the result of this, I came back 2 weeks later and removed the window, and did the blending into the roof properly like I should have done initially. Scuffed up the new clear coat and remedied any defects I could find while I was there. Also took the time this time around to do the entire rear of the car, as well as the boot lip area. Should protect it from rust for a bit with how many coats went on. You might notice a car next to the BMW covered in drapes. Its my dads 1962 Jaguar S-Type. Very nice. Another task which was massively satisfying was cleaning off the old glue to install the new bonnet foam. Prepsol did a wondrous job of it and made short work of the old adhesive. Cant forget the little black square. It didn't line up with anything for me, so on it went. Looks smashing! Because the Z3 rack had been sitting in my garage since September, I wanted to get it in. Draining the old PS fluid was well overdue as it had turned into a black viscous oil, fargone from the nice red ATF it was meant to be. I tried bending the e30 pipes to match the new angles, but cocked it up and ended up just getting some teflon fittings and braided Dash-6 hose. Wasn't cheap, the new pipes cost me $405, which was mostly the right angle fittings. Im going to need new boots With that all sorted and a new outer tie rod, I went for a wheel alignment, which has been on my to do list since I got the car. Unfortunately, it was confirmed that something was amiss. The wheel alignment went fine, but when driving, the car will pull to one side after a hard turn. If the hard turn is left, the car will not re-center and instead pull to the left like it is misaligned. If the hard full lock turn is to the right, it will pull to the right. The only thing I can think of is the strut top mount bearings being shot, which was also suggested by the gentleman at the tyre shop. So I ordered all of the required bits from Schmiedmann Because the rear of my transmission has let a lot of oil out, Im going to replace the rear seal as well.

2 pointsWhat I would do instead of sucking it up. Contact the 2nd bidder and take a small loss if they are interested. Thing is already a money pit before you have even driven it.

1 pointFOR SALE: $55,000NZD or Bitcoin equivalent. **SOLD** Car is now SOLD pending payment to Ryan in Brisbane. (Dec22) It appears you gotta be fast in this current market! e46 M3 Touring SMG RHD tribute car based on the variant they never produced! (well, just the one concept car). Built in 2015 by HellBM in Auckland using a donor M3 and 318i Motorsport Touring. Featuring M3 or better spec this car has everything from rear view mirror to M3 spare wheel well delete. It is as close to the concept M3 Touring as you will get. There is an extensive thread that followed the build process right here on Bimmersport. Browsing the thread is better than me listing everything that has been done on this car. There are additional tasteful modifications completed by WerksGarage since the HellBM build that include: Recaro SR7 front seats trimmed in M-Sport fabric CSL-style alcantara steering wheel Dynavin navigation with Bluetooth & rearview camera Porsche-sourced Brembo calipers front and rear CSL 2-piece front brake rotors Pagid RS19 brake pads Adjustable front camber/caster plates BMW E9X M3 19" staggered rims Michelin PS4S tyres The car is also currently presented with: Bilstein PPS10 adjustable suspension CSL reflash engine DME CSL reflash on the SMG DME Auto Blip New clutch New starter New battery Sold with current WOF and REGO The car is LVVT certified for all modifications This is the "one car to do it all". Fit kids seats, carry all the gear and still do trackdays. I'm only selling to get finance my way into a 1M ... otherwise I would keep it! Asking price is cents in the dollar on the input. This car is in pristine condition and so very unique, I challenge you to find another! Car is located in Palmerston North, NEW ZEALAND. Happy to assist with PPI, transport, etc. Best way of informing yourself of the quality of this build (the rear panels took 6 days to fabricate!) is to read the build thread on Bimmersport.co.nz. https://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/50043-e46- The car was featured on Pistonheads back in 2018. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1715725#message1 And again here on the WerksGarage site showing some of the post-HellBM improvements https://werksgarage.co.nz/blogs/news/one-car-to-do-it-all I can discuss the possibility of accepting Bitcoin as payment. 1 pointCheck with BM Workshop first, their prices were very good on a couple of items.

1 pointJust the panel is rusting again. After getting all the rust removed. I would suggest glancing your eye down the cassette tray when you've pulled the sunroof out to see if there is anything there. Mine seems to be fine.

1 point@Palazzo @E28E30 hopefully their Wellington arm might do the same. I think Coombes Johnston in Hamilton do something similar too. lack of competition here on the dealer front really shows.
-
1 pointAye, you've been stitched. Ah well, move forward. Let us know when you're coming through Wellington, I'll buy you a beer @Cammsport - I'll bring the e30 if it's not raining! If it happens to be 6 January, there's a Wellington Pub Night on as well.
-
1 pointYep, on its way home from pick a part! Scored a replacement drivers door card, a boot floor and some trim bits, and A COMPLETE TOOLKIT!!

1 pointThis is coming along great, so much effort. It's great to see!

1 pointStill here ... still doing headers pretty much, will be half way through the finish welding tonight and completed the most difficult side of the engine. Did something fun today also and added the elusive 337 Ci boot badges Other pic shows what I've been doing to bridge some of the gap left in the donut sections ... those things have been such a nightmare 😕 Really could use some thin strip stainless ... could make some but yeeaaaa. Also had a hose fitting burst in the garage, super lucky is just blasted straight down from the roof and just splashed over everything.

1 pointWell that's a unanimous answer from the Bimmersporters (a good thing). Onwards to the resto! Driving it back on the 29th of December. I'll keep the North Islanders posted if I need a driveway to pitstop in 😅

0 pointsOr actually rust free. Split my sunroof, got it acid dipped, and painted 2 years ago, it's already rusting between the 2 sheets again, as well as on the tabs. And this is on a car that spends most of its life in a garage. Not sure if I'll bother to go through the process again, something like this is probably the way to go. https://www.highline-motorsports.com/product-page/e30-sunroof
