    Ahh yes, the “all original” 325i Vert that has (just from the photos) non-original wheels, suspension, boot spoiler, exhaust and head unit. Does look in good nick though.

    Yeah is what it is but im glad i discovered it before it got worse. I think they would come to the same conclusion as me. As you know the system has no filters to prevent this but it should be fairly clean now. I can repair the cylinder locally much cheaper than overseas now that i know the required seal. Haha thanks. Mechanical wise it's certainly up there. Cosmetically it wont be winning any awards but its tidy enough for my standards. Maybe a possible front end respray in the future, who knows.

    Must have been in a masochistic mood as finally got around to doing a proactive ‘rust hunt’ in the E30. I already need to get some professional work done on the sunroof / tray / boot lid later in the year as funds allow but I wanted to go through and find anything else I can clean up and treat myself to nip in bud. Findings (presumably typical): Bit of surface rust on front jacking points Small patch of surface rust on firewall below my well and truly buggered ‘Elephant drain’ but came off easily with a wire brush. Reasonable amount of surface rust on boot seal ‘seam’ including a small area that I managed to turn into a couple of little holes. Will get this all cleaned up well, treated and order a new drain and boot seal. Not sure on approach with the little holes on the boot seal area (about a 1/3rd pea size) - would bog work here just to plug the hole, or would welding be best?

    Based on the plastic printed and glued mock ups they were within about 2mm within each bank ... bank to bank they are different but should be less critical given the secondaries will be relatively long. How they actually came out after fabrication is up for debate due to how much the stainless moves about !! Once i have them all trimmed to length for the collectors i will fill each tube with water and measure the volumes.

    Sounds great in those clips. To me the non cat E34 M60's engines were always quite raw for a luxury car.

    Went for a blat around some old forestry roads behind Tauranga, tyres are epic in the twisties Went through a a bit of rain too, nothing sketchy noticed at sane driving speeds on road. The grip limits are so high its hard to find them without driving like a psychopath on public roads. If you dont care about road noise too much, nor fuel economy, and probably life... the RT615K+s get two thumbs up for me.

    Great work Jared !! It is disappointing re the slave cylinder. I could provide some "feedback" to supplier if required. This ultra rare car is really getting serious attention - and one to watch...

    It's a deep blue / purple kinda colour ... looks very good, much better than the images online I've seen IMO. He got it with some options which also help ... TRD side skirts and boot lip spoiler from memory along with some nice forged 21's At the other end of the automobile spectrum I've been engaging my kiwi ingenuity with my header tweaking as pictured. Engaged multiple wince making techniques from the trolley jack lift 'n shift to the classic ratchet tie down on the tow bar yank 'n twist. The wire in the vice is my gauge so I can tell how much to abuse it. The good news is I have 5 out of 6 pipes now fitting whilst the worst offender gets some surgery at Race Lab ... I really have had enough of messing with the headers at this point and the pro's will give it a quick cut and tuck with far less profanity than me doing it. Next up I'll be targeting the transmission mount, which will likely involve more header / exhaust work to get the collectors and secondaries / Y pipe sorted.

    Revealed a hairline crack on the subframe floor awhile ago whilst cleaning (the usual L\H crease). I was planning on dropping the subframe anyway so went ahead. Luckily it didn't appear to be any additional failed welds or cracks, but Redish V3 plates will be going in anyway once Fedex Australia sorts their sh*t out. New subframe bushings and inner control arm bushings done whilst its out. Inspected the clutch\flywheel. Very little wear so must of been replaced not too long ago. Re-used the flywheel and installed a new clutch kit. New winner for the hardest job on this car. Not something you ever want to do on axle stands with standard floor jack with a cramped transmission tunnel to boot. Unfortunately the refurbished slave cylinder was weeping, probably due contaminated fluid from wear given the marks in the cylinder. Seal still looked ok so honed the better spare cylinder swapped it over and bled it. Appears to be holding for now but will refurbish the old one again for insurance. Cleaned all the solenoids, drained all the fluid and flushed some new stuff thru using the pump so hopefully cleared it out. Driveshaft nose bushing, Meyle HD flex disc and Febi center support done. FAG front wheel bearings, replacement rack and new Meyle HD control arms also done while everything is apart. Just need to do install rear wheel bearings, put everything back together and parts cannon along with the operator can retire for awhile.

    Saw an Imola Red E39 M5 with the plate AWSUM5 in Paihia yesterday morning at about 9:15AM. My jaw dropped when I saw it, beautiful car! No doubt the owner is on Bimmersport.

    Not a BMW but the OG fast wagon so thought someone might appreciate it (just looked, performance is extraordinary for a mid-90's 1600kg wagon, 4.8s 0-100 🤯)

    Today I tackled the rear bush supporting the diff. What a sh*t of a job, even when I thought I had the right tools... much swearing and wailing as I broke a high tensile bolt and stripped the thread on another, punched myself in the cheek when the socket let go... getting the exhaust, sway bar, diff itself out was easy... I now know why I've been putting off this job for a few months...
