Exciting day today, would have been much more exciting if my tyres were not 3 weeks away though!

I do like some of the comments, "it will cost you a lot of money!!!" No sh1t genius, its a 500 hp n/a V10 in a station wagon!

Those are such good reps (heaps better than mine) right size at 16” and the little key lock on the centre are great. Will look so good on your car.

Price reduced drastically, wife is stressing about all the cars with 1 month till move date 😅 a bargain for someone wanting a project over winter. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3520817469

The whole thing is just click bait unfortunately, "it's rare, so let's change the colour, seats and steering". I'll still watch this unfold.

Very little effort in that one 😂

One has been cleaned and moved a clear area to be photographed, the other seems to be going for a “barn find” aesthetic.

Wish I'd done this on the plug i have already wired up ... maybe I'll de-pin the whole thing at some point and deal to it. Anyhow, here is what i will be doing for the 'secondary' plug for the remainder of the ECU wiring. Cost effective solution for tidy wiring labels !! Sheet of laser print stickers plus clear heat shrink

Not a bad review, i think i might get one.....😉 I don't think changing the colour will really improve it, save the money for gas!

Thank you! They certainly seem well finished - a little heavier (1kg) than genuine lightweight Alpina's but not complete boat anchors and TUV certified for peace of mind. The centre cap does not have a lock, rather a rubber gasket and push-in clip fit, plus an allen screw hidden under the little cover to have them completely secured.

As above. Would only add ECStuning who have been great in both NZ and the US. They merged with Turner Motorsports who make great aftermarket parts for bimmers.

Hahaha... did that in the E39 years ago, with a Ranger behind me... At a roundabout, I changed down to second in preparation for the exit, but didn't slow down, took the roundabout at 55km/h and booted it as I exited (only a 525i though!)... Ranger tried to follow... he mounted the footpath behind me as I blitzed off into the 80 zone 🤣 He kept some distance after😋

Level up achieved !!! Finally completed the wiring to a 'functional' state. Now to get it tidied up and map out the additional plug I will need to make the harness removable. Can't wait to get to the point where it can all be wrapped and finalised !! Wasted literal days trouble shooting the last two issues, both simple explanations / solutions in the end: My mobile diagnostic app NCSIII was showing the accelerator pedal (BMW item) sensor voltages as the same when they were measuring correctly on the wire. There are two independent sensors which have differing voltages (one is half of the other). Finally located a note in the service manual stating the diagnostics are expected to show the same / adjusted voltage reading. Fuel pump relay signal would never fire. The service manual (EC section) notes ECU pin 22 is an 'output' which should show battery voltage for a second after key on (pump priming). Turns out the ECU actually sends pin 22 to ground when activated !! I guess its 'outputting' ground in a way and when measured with the full OEM wiring it would indeed show 12v. Tricky

Gave the paint a going over with the Meguiar's DA microfiber system. Stopped using foam pads after i tried this as i found it delivers good results for minimal time and outlay. No swirls or holograms so maybe someone has cleaned well over the years or corrected it in the past? @hqstu ?. Got most of the light scratching out leaving some the time consuming deeper ones alone. With thinner clear and stone chips present in certain areas i dont think its worth the risk given the light blue hides defects very good. Ride height has increased a little with the new parts but im a fan of factory lowered height. Yet it scrap it in all the typical situations after a few 100 k's so should limit any bumper damage.
