Thanks for the post but I did trade the e46 m3. My choice was basically around the space and also around what vehicles I keep and also the m3 is used as a daily. I did start the list of things that you’d do to a e46 with 180,000 and had just had all the stone chips and bumpers done to bring paint back to a high standard. Car had been BMW serviced since I brought it at 48,000 km and did anything that came during that time. Ironically car had recent set of PS4S and I’d also done front rotors. Would have meant moving on a limited addition motorcycle and a project that’s on my bucket list to finish. I had a health scare earlier this year that’s made me determined to do certain things. Riding again is one of them and the bike brings a level of enjoyment that I don’t get driving.

Don't do it! Keep the E46 M3 forever! I only have one regret in life and that was selling mine! Four years ago I sold my E46 to an enthusiast (who won't sell it back to me no matter what I offer him haha) and my X5 and bought an F80 M3. At first I loved the F80 but my excitement for it quickly waned. The E46 was under covers and on a charger - brought out on a perfectly sunny day to head up South Head or around the Hunua Ranges. It was an experience every time. Whereas, the F80 was a daily as well as a weekend car. I think that was the mistake. It lost its specialness since I was in it every day. Plus I went from a manual to DCT. DCT is great and all...but it's not a manual. I think the clincher for me was the sound it made - the exhaust note leaves a lot to be desired (at least when compared to the S54). Anyway, I'm only being part serious. The F80 is a fantastic car. But all I'm saying is that if I could go back in time 4 years, I would punch myself in the throat for even thinking of selling it The silver lining is that selling it indirectly got me into a Z4 M Coupe (which also has the S54 if you aren't familiar with it) and a 1M which I still have And I will 100% NEVER sell them. I have told my partner that if I ever even utter a word about selling (which I won't) she has full rights to hit me over the head with the frypan.

Project is a Mk1 classic mini that was a circuit car in the 70s -90s. The idea was to convert to road based Motorsport and my take on a 60s classic racer. Power wise it has a 1275cc a series engine with a turbo and race gearbox / lsd. I got caught with re-vin process before getting everything certed for road legal use. Bike is a 2001 Ducati 748r which previous owner built it for track racing. I brought it after 3 races / 200 km and put road bits back on. It was mainly used for leisure riding, but also speed trials and hill climb competitions. Has an amazing sound and quite a bit of power for a 750cc Ltwin.

Yup, she’s not a full noise M325i so I would put that price at the hopeful end of the spectrum.

Would have had a MSport steering wheel from new, but I think the Mtech2 kit is a later addition.

Was mentioned last page. Crazy price regardless of options. I don't see the appeal or desire for the 4 door model and can't recall seeing them sell for over 20k.

I noticed a slight ride height increase in the e39 M5 with new Bilstein struts and Lemforder mounts. Wasn’t sure if it was the spring perch being different, particularly on the rear. Kinda happy it’s a bit higher, saves me ruining the front undertray on the driveway.

Lemforder\Sachs are OE and redesigned them at some point. Im not sure if OE Genuine BMW ones are the original design(would think so) or they changed those as well, either way they probably cost $$$. Possibly other aftermarket brands like Meyle, Febi, etc use the original design\molds, hard to tell unless you see the actual product. If i come across OE E46 mounts i will compare the height to my Z4 ones, they certainly have less rubber and a thicker metal top than my current Lemforders. Best option would be like i did and Z4 ones if you want guaranteed lowering -https://spareto.com/products/febi-bilstein-top-strut-mounting/45059. You can get genuine BMW Z4 ones too but they are very expensive. Not much info or pictures on people fitting them so who knows how all 3 compare in ride height.

Ordering new genuine parts for your 35 year old classic car and not only are they still available, but also in stock and they arrive on your desk next day.

I wouldn’t bet on it, it will take more than the sun coming out to change the current car market, and economy in general. Plus all the hipsters are buying Teslas to “save” the planet.

To the average car buying public all X3s would be the same, but to the BMW cognoscenti the number of similar cars is much less. Six to be exact, if you are looking for an LCI NZ new. You’ve got to pitch your sale to those that appreciate the subtle differences, rather than drop your price for someone who knows no different.

I would like to say awesome work and its more effort than people think. Also thanks for showing the build along the way as if it wasn't for a head injury 6 years ago that f*cked my world up i would of had both my BMW projects built and going, also your close by and a member so might have to get some info off you where you sourced the rebuild parts from in the future Hoping one day to have my M73B54 in a special project (rather than using it for doing burnouts, once i get some new coolant hoses and hope the heads not leaking haha) and my E28 is the other one which i nearly got pushed into putting the v12 in there as they fit (Its all pipe dreams to i can work again hopefully not another 6 years but who knows with head injuries and life) Keep up the hard work, its a project and no doubt if you ever sold it there is a world market available and i do hope you keep it real as some of the v12 owners like one i got mine off it was like getting blood from a stone and wouldn't even sell me any parts off there other v12 that was living in the backyard not even running.
