Hello, Here is my 1UZ-FE swapped E30 with air ride sitting on fifteen52 wheels. Couple small changes to come including M Tech 1 rear wing, smilies, smoked indicators, smoked side markers and possibly refinishing the wheels.

This one has been put to bed. Following my writing an extensive diatribe on what happened, accompanied by pictures and annotated diagrams, the insurance company have replied: "Thank you for sending through your statement and diagram along with the images. We will not be holding you liable for the damages to our clients vehicle," Given they'd already said that I doubt they'd have had much luck had they changed their mind.

Hey the Velcro circles have come off my drivers side mat and it keeps sliding up the accelerator pedal. Any one have any advice for a good place to get replacements?. Thanks

yes to all the above. Just trying to get my head around the wheel sensors. Canbus will only be connecting the ECU, ABS and LCM. Steering wheel will be melted down to bare metal and will just have a funky looking stereo, so wont need any of that nonsense haha

Bang for buck, sure, you'd go E46 M3 for basically the same price. The future buyer of this car won't be after that though, they'll be wanting it for other reasons, like so it can sit in the garage and age like a nice wine.

but it is the right colour!

Wait, what? Are you installing the wheel sensors? CANBUS? Cluster? ASC actuator? You could even install the cruise control?

Dark blue E60 (I think) 535i driving up Bombay Hills from the SH2 interchange, before getting off at Pukekohe. Three letters, two numbers rego. Don't know if the owner is on here, but if you are - mate, you need to check your driving. Your exhibition this morning was exactly what gets BMW drivers a bad name.

Lines aren't the tidiest, but hey, it suits the rat look haha hoping to get them all pressure tested today then can get some fluid in and at least ill be able to stop......hopefully. Compressor, pump, booster and control module are all snuggy behind the right front head light, ill probably need to re-work the low beams to fit

indeed, good result. what they really meant was "we're not going to try and extract monies from you.... becuase we haven't a leg to stand on, our client is irrational, and you're a consistent and articulate witness.". They (try to) make it sound as though they're a court. "hold you liable" ha! Pull the other one... 500 times. ahhhh, that's better. cheers Olaf

Personally I'd rather drive a E39is, it pulls from 1000rpm in 6th and will hit 160 in 3rd. It is just so easy and such a total pleasure to drive, although I wouldn't throw it through corners like I did with my E36 coupe, but it isn't far behind. A couple of years ago I saw a couple of E39 540is's on TM and they both sold for pretty good coin. I turned down 10k last year because I couldn't think of anything I'd like to replace it with............perhaps a low mileage (under 100k) E39 M5 but I've seen more M5's for sale than 540is's another BMW I wouldn't mind is a 840i manual but I've never seen one of them for sale either. Has anyone got a set of 18" Type III's for sale? Also has anyone retrofitted NBT idrive into a E39?

Glad to hear it worked out. I very nearly had a similar situation on Saturday. Turning right at a T intersection on a quiet street a lady had just pulled over to the left of where I was turning into, as I pulled out seeing she had stopped she then pulled at again into my path. There was also a car coming the other way but I managed to just squeeze through the gap as she realised I was there, must have been bloody close. I was in a tough position for her to see but no indicating or anything from her. I would have been fairly annoyed as I was in my own car, but no harm done, she got a shock and I needed a new pair of undies haha.

Why are they in the Toyota > Suspension part of TM?! Should chuck em in my 2002 so I wont fall out the window while cornering

Spent some time on the dyno yesterday fixing the fuel and trying to smooth out the power with Bredon and Josh. Some good gains over stock for what ended up being a pretty safe map. Doing a trackday on Friday to see what difference the gains make.

GT Refinishers did a good job, I'm stoked! Thanks bro. Keen to see how your car goes! Haha yeah I'm in Howick. Stretch is bad though. Actually can't remember the name of the guy I bought the car off (bought it 3 and a half years ago), so probably not?

The traffic island chicanes are the best. If you can do double the speed limit through them you're doing pretty good. The speed bumps at Bunnings te rapa are horrendous, it's like driving over a cinder block. I can't even get my car car over them, I had to turn around and go back the other way.

I dont know a lot about the E65 other than that I'd rather have a E38. I know a lot of the E38 guys will retro fit options into their cars. Perhaps this is something you could do with yours. Or do what a lot of new car buyers did towards the end of 2001. "When the E38 was phased out in 2001 to make way for the new E65, sales of E38s increased noticeably in the car's final months of production as people moved to buy the car before it was replaced. The E65's radical styling and iDrive was not initially well-received by consumers,"

Why didn't you just ask us at the monthly bimmersport meet? i find the chances of you posting this straight after seeing Jeff's e36 quite interesting. We were there, we run stretch, it would be the easy thing to do, no?

Yes it would be registered as 2016 (date of first registration). But its still a 1972 car. Anyone who tried to sell it and advertised it as a 2016 would be a f**kwit. Now in the case of the OP, it's what? 2 years out? The seller probably isn't even aware or intending on deceiving anyone. Anyway, who gives a f**k. You're giving me a headache reading this sh*t.

So picked this up from Dunedin and drove back to Morrinsville over a couple of days. Wow what a drive, 1500 kms with a mixture of boring straights, amazing scenery, mad hairpins, wicked roads, mental tourists and flickering traction control lights Special thanks to Mason in Dunedin for checking it out for me, LEGEND! Replacing the E500 as the daily driver. Will use this as a bit of a record of works etc. as they come up. So to the details: M62TUB44 540i, Steptronic box Production date 26.07.1999 , Jap export version, first registered NZ 2008 Colour: Biarritzblau Metallic (363) M-Sport Package, sports suspension II, told M5 rear bumper/ Mirrors and M5 exhaust (pic for ref) happy to be told otherwise. Be interested to know. Purrs real nice ! Mileage :152000 km's Summary: Well maintained engine, drivetrain, mechanicals. Stored outside for 3 years but cared for. Works completed by PO: Valve cover gaskets, PCV Valve, all cooling hoses, Valve covers blasted and powder coated, Various engine gaskets, battery replaced, plugs replaced, glass headlight fronts replaced, had three and half years did 20000kms. Avoided metal roads like the plague! Works to do: Aircon doesn't work, apparently not need in DUN (?). been to Hamilton Cool Air and searching for leaks, nothing apparent - refilled and returning for die testing in a fortnight. Clay bar paint surface. Polish and wax. Detail interior. Detail Exterior. Rear window regulator broke on the way down with putting the windows down all the time with no AC, lol. Replacement ordered arriving tomorrow. May put NZ 4:3 or 16:9 radio with RDS in as currently just Business Jap version with band expander, works really well though. Other then that looks OK. Just given it its first wash to remove 1500kms of grime, muck and bugs.
