Will be done so all parts can be reinstated in the future if required. This is to make a more enjoyable daily drive experience for the owner.

Looking for something around the 17x8 territory for the E36 to whack touring tyres on and save the semi's for weekends/track days.

To bring the MotoMeter speedometer into alignment, first remove the cluster. I won't go into huge detail on this as there's already a heap of good write ups, skip down to the picture of the speedo removed to get straight into it. Remove the lower kick panel. Reach behind the dash and unwind too aluminum knobs, that'll let you remove a black access panel that sits below the cluster. Remove the two upper screws that secure the cluster brackets to the dash (there may be some lower screws to remove, if so I must've left them off last time I was in there for the coding plug). Now be super gentle with the cluster brackets. Pull them down slightly to jiggle the cluster forwards. Slide the cluster forwards toward the steering wheel until you can see the white and blue plugs at the rear of the cluster. Flick the black retaining clips up and jiggle the plugs off. This will give you more room to bring the cluster right up against your steering wheel. Now just slide the cluster to your left, towards the radio. The cluster should be free! Place the cluster face down on a bench and remove the 9 brass coloured screws on the back. 8 around the circumference and 1 in the middle. You'll be able to remove the blue section from the front of the cluster. Now put your misses red nail polish on the needles ?. You'll see another 4 brass screws on the blue section, directly behind the speedo gauge, remove these. The gauge will come free from the cluster assembly. Look for the potentiometer on the side of the speedo gauge. Total range of the pot is about 270 degrees. Turning it clockwise will reduce the speedo reading. Anti clockwise will increase the speedo reading. It's hard to tell, but I reckon turning it about 30 degrees reduced the speed from 120 km/h to 100 km/h. It was a lot of trial and error, making an adjustment, driving using a GPS speed app, making another adjustment. You could alternatively drill an access hole in the blue cover which would let you leave the speedo IN the the cluster assembly to make the adjustments to the pot. The rules in NZ are that your speedo can read +10%/-0%. Either way I'd try dial it in as close as to possible to your actual speed to prevent unnecessary kilometers being added to your beast!

Sold the BBS RS 15" 3 piece set that I had to a guy with a 2002. Unsure if he's on here or not. I just wasn't happy with the deep dish vs small diameter on the E30.

Man I wish I knew this before ? Finally finished the car (cert wise) tonight. Have a weird knock coming from the front right so I'll have to Jack it back up and see what I've left loose. Will make an update with tips and tricks on manifold wrapping and speedo calls etc when I find the time.

At the moment it would be cheaper to buy a Leaf and pull the battery out for storage than to buy a dedicated battery of similar capacity. Don't think I haven't considered it!!

Andrew was saying in the weekend he just put 5-6kw unit on the roof for 14k, that pretty much would run the house and give enough power to charge the car, sacrifice his leaf for the batteries would be next step ?

Great video. Poor synchros. Tend to agree with the e90 comments although the M5 has nice low down torque.

Not yet. The manifest lists a number value for the shipment, but doesn't specify a currency...

One month update. Just on 1000ks and around 120kw power use @ 30 cents kw equates to $36. Yes very, very happy with that. So far so good. This month need to go in and get connected drive sorted, want to look at putting Apple car play in updating the NBT. Using adaptive cruise a lot in heavy traffic, just makes life too easy. Only ever charged at home and just run the Rex to try it, finding 120ks is more then enough daily and waking up knowing I have a full charge every day elevates almost all range anxiety. Best feature: pre conditioning, set aux air to come on and pre condition the car so it’s up to temp for when you get in in the morning and have the Ac running for when you leave work at night, no more hot car to get into. I know plenty of BMs have these but battery concerns in the past meant I’ve never used it like I now can. Brilliant

Exhaust Headers Again those with a keen eye will have noticed the switch to M52 headers. These bolt straight up, and had 2 significant advantages: I had a pair I didn't have a pair of M54 ones... But in all seriousness, they are a much nicer fitment in terms of design and clearance.

Engine + Box After the earlier TIme Sert post, I decided I was close enough to getting it all back in the engine bay. Half a day later getting the block off the stand, flywheel on, gearbox aligned and on meant it was ready. I made the call to finish the head assembly in the car (cams, lifters etc) simply due to time.

Lifter cleaning Another item on the 'while I'm in here' list, was to check and clean out the lifters. Having not known how well the engine was previously treated, and how long the lifters had sat, I am glad I did. Ordinarily, you'd know which lifter corresponds with which valve. However in my case the previous engine owner had taken the head well apart and not labelled anything. I checked all the lifters and the lifter tray for heavy scoring. Used a little emery paper on a couple of rough edges but overall very happy. Enough waffle. Here's how I did it: Soak the lifters in a bucket of Thinners overnight Lift each one out Bang the lifter housing HOLLOW side down (keep it square) on a piece of wood. The inner lifter mechanism pops out Rinse both (keeping them as a set) in fresh Thinners. Use a thin pick or similar to really clean out the ball bearing inside Reassemble by placing the lifter back inside the lifter housing Check for spring pressure - lifter should move in the housing with finger pressure As the pics show, even though they may look clean after the first rinse, they rarely are. I had to do a couple twice to ensure equal springiness across the set. More detail again courtesy of 50's Kid on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpSuwEI0Q8M

Hi Jed. Have put several family members and friends into them for a reason. One of the best bang for buck BMW`s around. Easy to maintain with plenty of parts available @HELLBM Happy to advise re. pre purchase.

Great work. Looks like the previous owner was allergic to maintenance.
