    Slow progress on the bumper. First attempt at fibreglass repairing with lessons learned. All cracks are repaired though and not re appearing so far with alot of moving the bumper around. Filler next. Got a facelift M wheel in pretty good nick for it along with an updated airbag.

    So am currently contemplating the silly thing of buying a F10 M5 because after all who doesn't need a car that can transport the family in comfort while also being a muscle car? Curious as to where there values end up? Seems at present they are 40-80k depending on year and condition. Seems the E60 M5's have stayed pretty constant at the mid 20's mark for a tidy one (seems to be pretty steady from when I bought a E60 550i 4 years back), do these F10's drop down to those values in the next few years, or are they likely to always be priced slightly above due the lack of issues compared to the E60? Also wondering how much of a premium the NZ New models that are BMW approved may hold over the import ones, would it be worth spending larger into the later 16/17 models that are NZ New, and also coming BMW approved with 2 yr servicing/warranty? A couple on trademe at 80k that fit that criteria, my man maths suggests they may be worth 50-55k in 2 years time at the end of the warranty period? This is based off the current 2014 models on there for sale. Either way I know this is not a smart decision financially, but I like to roll the dice from time to time.

    Considering bringing back my e28 1987 535i auto in mint condition from the UK but not sure of its value to justify the cost. It's in original condition with 285,000kms and recent respray. 2 long term owners. I'm not sure of the value to buy these in New Zealand or whether it's worth shipping it. Anyone have any recent sale prices of similar models ??

    WTB: e46 coupe C pillar trim (driver side) After black or a clean one with no glue if the fabric has been removed, (are they all black underneath?) Also, keen on the light insert. Cheers

    Here's a video of one of the BMW Board members driving it: I like the look from the side... but I'm one of those people that hate that huge front grille. The latest 3 series has a nicer grille design, wish they stuck with that...

    They will definitely keep depreciating, probably to similar levels to E60s over the next few years as they become older and the F90 becomes a common used car. reliability on them is getting questionable particularly on early cars, I have seen quite a few major engine failures this far. Having said that, like anything as long as it has very good service history with only the correct oils used and you get a warranty (preferably BMW Premium Selection as your $10k Autosure claims limit won’t go far towards an engine rebuild) you should be good to go!

    Would have loved a facelift one but went NZ New on a 2012, not regretted it, fantastic vehicle. Purchased from BMW with an Autosure warranty, buying NZ New with history seemed the best option. Keeping away from playing with it, 550 hp no need, never ever short of power, like ever. Wouldn’t want to seriously break it and have avoid warranty ?

    Im no fan of car dealers but in their defense they tend to supply what the average car buyer wants\thinks is the most important - low k's and later models. That line of thinking stems from how the average NZ'er looks after their vehicles, but people making decisions based solely digits is like writing off someone because of their age. One of the worst condition E39's ive ever seen was a 99,000km Singapore import, it obviously had to used as town car around Auckland for most its life and still mostly original parts.

    If anyone needs the following I have them for hire at reasonable rates: - Engine brace (sits across your engine bay) to do sump, subframe etc work - Engine stand - Panel stand with foam tops usually have 1-2 of these available Pick up in Howick and bond required

    A 20km car could have had the same usage as a 100km car. It depends on where and how it's used. With that in mind you can get munted low mileage cars and cars at 200km that feel new.

    Maser has been fine since it's first issues with the dealer (12 months in). To be honest all my euros have been similar repair wise. (M5, 130i, 535i, E500, E55, S4). Maybe the Mercs were a bit cheaper. The Maser service costs are the most expensive though, mainly as there aren't any indy's here. Same with Alfa, I don't care for Winger Maser/Alfa at all. Winger Subaru I was happy with. After more browsing, it really does look like a 130i manual is the best/most fun BMW you can get for under 10 grand.

    Low KM and jap import means nothing, its a false economy. Could mean its done huge engine hours sitting in start stop traffic, wearing out 1st and 2nd in the trans, or it does a lot of short, cold, trips. My first E36 was flogged out despite having 72,000km on the clock. Jap import. Jatco box was buggered (worse than most with twice as many KM), bushes and joints were floppy.

    Few little things done to kill time over lock-down. Replaced the sun-damaged outer door handles with some in better condition. These are an absolute cunofajob to install and i now wish i had just masked and painted the originals. I also fitted the shadow line door card strips as the chrome with shadowline outter window trims bugged me. Before : After: Had an issue with the central locking not working and the drivers door master switch not operating the other windows. After about 10 hours of dismantling and troubleshooting I found the p-bus wire in the passenger front door loom connector was shorting against the neighbouring wires. Wish I had checked it first! But was good to learn more about e39 elec troubleshooting.

    New M8 art car, spotted in my lounge. Unfortunately its owner didnt option the carbon brakes as they were a girls colour. and blue is a boys colour.

    I drove in convoy with this car, early Jan 2020 from around Tirau all the way into Auckland CBD. Was a good and fast blast! If the owner is on here, I was the silver E39 540i

    Now have a hub puller set in Auckland available (can ship). A seriously useful tool if you're doing hubs or bearings.
