The E46 compacts come out with an M54 2.5 motor as standard. Fitting a 330 motor & box shouldn't be an issue appart from the electrical side of things. Tracking down all the parts could be an issue though. I'd get a Compact first then find an accident damaged 330. Thats basicaly what I did

Has anyone checked it for you properly with a scanner ??
-
That would make a mate on the shelf with my brass magnet
-
What do you want to do ?? You need to be more specific...there are so many differences. Compacts are completely different from saloons & wagons and so are coupes

The pixel problem can be repaired- give me a call (09) 2722546

What replacement lifters are you using Steve?? Or are you modifying the originals ??

Theres more damage there than just an indicator lamp. Going by the picture it looks like the whole headlight has been pushed in also, which will break its mounts. You need to buy the whole indicator lamp. You can't just buy the lense. Insurance ??? BTW: The cars build date is April 2003

They don't have one. Thats a cooling system gallery under the plenum chamber. If you didn't know the motor you would think it was an oil valley pan. These are also prone for leaking coolant and I've had to replace a few

Be careful with a sand or bead blaster. You can damage these very easily. Especially the sealing surfaces, where the gaskets fit. Also make sure when you refit them you use new bolt seals as well. These tension the rocker cover onto the RC seal to keep them oil tight.

I'm sure I've got a 4.44:1 small case at work. Will have a look tomorrow

Thats normal. Cat overheat doing it's self test. Motor must run to carry out this test. If it comes on while driving you have a problem

I don't want you to hurt yourself, someone else or damage the car

The E65 was Airbag and suspension WOF repairs. The Merc was the result of a a lady driving the car all day with a funny little orange light on.... coolant level light on... then the car stopped... she rang me and said she had a flat battery. I won't say who it was

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THE CAR ANYWHERE........ PLEASE Get it towed to a repairer for it to be repaired. Unless someone is willing to to the repair for you at your place
-
Shouldn't that be down to -27C...

One of the largest BMW repairs I've done was $12,500 (E65)... The largest bill I've done was on a Mercedes 500SEL... $23,000

Brian's car was registered incorrectly in NZ. It's a 323i Coupe with a M52B25 engine.

You won't be able to buy new parts either over the WE. We can look at it for you next week... just give me a call (09) 2722546

Sorry.. I don't work on cars off the premises. I need to access tools and diagnostic equipment when diagnosing faults and it's a bit hard to put a hoist and the rest of the gear into the back of an Xtrail

Where are you situated Nathan ?? It's easy to check the pump, it can be activated with the right scanner and checked either hot or cold. The youtube clip sounded like an idler or tensioner bearing. We had a e46 in last week with a similar noise. The idler bearing was seized and would'nt spin properly cold. Is there any belt rubber transferr onto the idler or tensioner bearings ??
-
I wonder who did that ??? BTW: Nice to meet you this morning Denk
