@KwS - spoiler? @richard - I'll take the bonnet struts if they still hold up a bonnet - can swap for for a slightly faded but otherwise good 82mm roundel if you want it. I may know somebody interested in the headlight aim adjusters, just checking in with them.

Whatever you do it's going to end up in landfill... some routes to the same destination are more convenient and expedient than others. You could always set it off in a paddock to see how high you can launch it and then just chuck it in the trash. Or just chuck it in the trash like everybody else will.
-
That looks f'ing sick. Props Richard.

Eibach Pro Plus (black) springs.

I hope it's no longer in the antique shop!

You'll never stop if you want to stay on top of it... I've recently learnt that Bilstein don't market a B8 for the e36 M3, only the B6 (and almost every American retailer has it wrong). You can make up a B8 set though by getting Z3M B8 fronts and e46 M3 B8 rears. I have B6's (thought they were B8's) in my M3 and they're perfect for me.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I interpreted it, they said they were dumping the tent and going on more road trips, I think Jeremy even said "specials" once. The emotional bit at the beginning (of the end) was interesting, it really made me wonder.
-
That's not how I interpreted it actually... did you watch it until the very end? Maybe I'm deluding myself?
-
I'm not sure I would have recognised it even if I were looking! So I can't be any help there sorry...

The sale will be on for more than one day if what was left at 16h is an indicator. I'm pretty sure some of the piles are literally trash but if you want the odd bit it might be worth a trip. Lot's of DME's and control units from ~91 to ~04 but very few with keys or chips. Also lots of bumper support bars for some reason. As above, lots of odd wheels f you're looking for some, most with rubbish tyres and none are particularly desirable. I picked up some exhaust tips for the 328 that I spied there about a year ago but he wanted $60, I offered $40 and no-go. Picked them up today for $10.

Yep, all deliveries are from FCPEuro and then they added their own margin. Seemed to supply a fair few body shops based on the outbound packages i saw every time I was there. @NZ BMW - I think they're trading as Ladies Mile Motors although I'm not sure if that's the name of the LLC.

Just down the road from my place... there is some stuff there I wan't, might go and low-ball...

Running MAF-less uses really tolerant maps so yeah, it can run better (although it's not likely to be economical). If it runs fine with the MAF disconnected then it's likely to be a faulty MAF or a vacuum leak. If the second MAF you used was known to be good then it's likely a vacuum leak and most of these won't throw a code. Have a good look at all the rubber (non-fluid) pipes you can see on the intake side of the engine, this will require removing the intake up to the throttle butterfly (pretty simple, just clamps) so you see right under there. Some cracks aren't noticeable by eye and the next step is a smoke test for leaks which you should be able to get done for under $100.

I'm assuming it wasn't on the driver's side?!? When mine when off they filled the cabin with powder... would have crashed through lack of visibility if I wasn't already crashed.

So much awesome, GLWS.

Shitty shed.

Having an opinion, even an opposing one, isn't an argument. In the absence of any evidence either way we're entitled to our opinions. I'm not easily convinced that BMW NZ maintains an economically infeasible programme, nobody should be, it beggars belief. I'm happy to be convinced though, no arguments there.

Short answer: yes replace the mechanical tensioner with a hydraulic one, the mechanical ones will just keep failing. You need a few extra bits to do the swap but all can be had off a wreck if you've got a couple of spanners and a little time. I think I paid $15 or $20 for mine from Zebra when I replaced the mechanical one on my 328 - much better than the cost of a new one and the hydraulic ones are pretty much lifetime. Here are the parts you need: https://www.bimmerworld.com/Engine/Pulleys/Hydraulic-Tensioner-Update-Kit-E36-E46-E39-E60-X3-X5-Z3-Z4.html

If they're getting charged 'retail' minus 'a little bit' + 'shipping' then of course they didn't accept the opportunity, that would be stupid. You'd be better off flying to Europe, visiting the factory on your own dime, renting a BMW and then coming back here and picking yours up locally. Doesn't matter how many time you say it either, I won't believe BMW are that dumb unless I see it written down. How much do BMW NZ charge to freight a car back here then? And according the the American programme the X series is excluded from Euro Delivery, what X5 story are you referring to?
-
Said it a few times now... it's not free, it's included in the retail price. You're not expected to pay for shipping twice... that's the only logical (and sensible) conclusion. It's not a reasonable assumption that you'd have to pay additional shipping. Do you have documentation to the contrary? The absence of an item from a list isn't conclusive at all (especially when the surrounding text implies there no additional cost to you).
-
Well of course you need to get yourself there and back, and accommodated. Nevertheless, there are many good reasons to visit München! Some free stuff on BMW is a bonus. You still don't pay extra to ship your new car back, that cost is included in the purchase price.
-
Unless the US has a special arrangement (and that may be the case), delivery to your home destination is included. This makes sense of course since you pay for that in the up-front the price. https://www.bmwusa.com/european-delivery.html It simply wouldn't work as a programme otherwise, it wouldn't be economical.
-
And shiny! Did you get them locally?
-
Lots of 'merikans do it... must be a way... although I accept it might not be economical. I wonder if you can sleep in the car? Munich is a wonderful place for a visit/stay... head there around October and doppelt the experience! Also, do NOT skip the Deutsches Museum, you'll need two days to do it properly. Best technology museum in the world (IMHO).

Wow, is that a stock exhaust? Are the cats hanging off the headers? Either way, unbolt and drop the rear section and shake out whatever's in there... and hope it's not an exhaust valve!
