Sweet door handle labels too. What do they do for the 0-60 time?
-
Me too! Thanks for that.

41, mine’s a private import. 😛 btw mine had an oem sump guard. Do the nz new ones have this?
-
I have had one of these for my daily driver for 9 years. I also drove a near identical car for 10 years before this one (in another country), so I have been driving the M44 motor for nearly 20 years and 300,000+ kms. It's a bloody great motor and in the E36 chassis has stunning handling and balance, particular with the M-sport suspension and Bilstein dampers. Any idiot can drift a 328 or M3, it takes really skill to drift 318 as you actually have to BE on the limit, not just spinning the rear wheels.

IS there a working VIN decoder?
topnotchrally replied to topnotchrally's topic in General Discussion
My bad... bimmer.work worked just now, with adblock turned off. Thanks for the tip. -
mdecoder.com became useless a year or so ago and I found bimmer.work which was working until yesterday and is now a useless pay service. Arrrrggg Does anyone know a working vin decoder? I just want to get the build sheet to check the factory options (of older cars, E36, etc). Thanks.

If wing is your thing, then this is the car for you !!!!

You shouldn't be able to get a WOF with that stupid thing on there. You could behead a pedestrian! -
Yeah. Nice. I suspect they intended to write ‘complementing’

Uggg. I hate black. 😲

It's definitely a real Euro M3. I looked up the vin but then neglected to call the seller right away. Damn procrastination! A good score.
-
From memory, the ad said it was completely stock.
-
The ad is gone so I presume it's sold. I was going to call today but got distracted, when I got to it this evening, the ad was gone. Anyone know any dirt/details about this car? Was the car underpriced? I was thinking it was about right and hence my interest. I did ascertain that it was imported from Japan in 1999 via carjam and vin.
-
I am very curious about this topic but the original ad is gone. Could someone please post what the car was and the asking price. Thanks.

Rant about the poor state of TM car ads....
topnotchrally replied to topnotchrally's topic in TradeMe discussions
At least there are decent photos so I can tell it's an auto box.. so who cares... no description necessary. 😁 -
Wow! The price has dropped $10k. What a bargain!!!!

I don't claim to know heaps about E36s but I know more than most. I've never heard of these options but for the moment lets let that go. Can someone help me understand how the presumably mature owner of this car can't seem to write with correct capitalization and punctuation. Ignoring that, they can't spell 'quite' or 'often'. Full points for spelling 'rare' correctly, all too often spelled 'rear' in TM ads. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3170733580

Six or so months ago they were asking $46000 for this car... seems it has gone up in value quite a bit since than... https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/m3/new-listing/3118113298

E36 M3 EVO - Have i ruined my life?
topnotchrally replied to Funkyflynz's topic in General Discussion
Old guy here... how about.umm, driving the thing for a while before making more mods? Just a thought. -
An interesting evaluation. https://www.hagerty.com/media/valuation/2011-bmw-1-series-m-instant-collectible/

Ridiculously, this has been listed as Automatic so doesn't show up in my standard trademe search for Manual BMWs... not great marketing.

E36 M3 EVO - Have i ruined my life?

You need an authority card if any of the 'safety equipment' has been modified or removed. OEM Seatbelts and airbags are the big ones. Also note that you MUST complete in 2 MNZ events per year in order to renew you Auth card each year. -
I can fully agree that the price is nuts... it is perhaps a bit optimistic. A nearly identical car (with real manual) sold for (scratching head/thinking) around $32k (or was it 37) a few months ago. I was giving it serious consideration but then it was sold. I'm on the fence as to if the SMG makes it more or less valuable...less to me but perhaps more to some else. If this car had less than, say, 50,000kms on it, the price would be far more realistic. It's a great colour combo...
-
Good one.. .and I agree fully. If it doesn't have a clutch pedal it isn't worth owning. No only for the purity of it but also because when the SMG goes wrong (and it will) it will cost you thousands... it is unnecessary technology.
