FS: 4 x Nankang NS-2R Semi-Slicks 225/45r17 5+mm
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to M3AN's topic in For Sale
Have done some quick maths, and the 225 width is not a problem, but that combined with the 45 profile will make them a lot bigger roller diameter than I need. Bugger - good set of tyres at a good price! -
Warrant of Fitness checks are required for your safety on the road, and also the safety of all the others on the road. Do yourself a favour and get some new tyres. Glad to see other posts are in agreement with this. Bimmersport policy is that anything illegal on NZ roads is not condoned, such as trying to dodge a warrant check like this, so thread closed.

Found this on Nankang web-site if that helps. Don’t hold them for me, I am at the interested stage, but I need to double check that size and profile for my rims and car the 45 profile possibly makes them a bit big. -

It’s normally something like a production week - 14 04 20 for example. Which reads as week 14 which is in April (04) of the year (2020), that’s the Toyo version. Usually moulded into the sidewall in a kind of box or raised area, if that makes sense. -

Any idea how old they are? Do they have a moulding date on them anywhere? -
@Arron it took you a long time to understand the rules, but well done you got there in the end!

Just hold on there champ before you get on your high horse. You also have “any parts you want ask away” in your post which doesn’t strictly meet the all items must have a price and photos criteria of the For Sale section.

Whole host of possible reasons, hard to say without knowing the whole story. How long was it sitting - as Glenn says possible animal / insect nest in the exhaust? If it hasn't been used in quite a while and was not covered and sealed, this is quite possible. Did you have to crank it for quite a while before it fired - unburnt fuel coming through into the exhaust which then got heated once it was running? I'm not familiar with Hyundia generators, I guess they have a muffler of some sort... could have got some crap in it - dust, etc. or even the muffler material started to break down (unlikely but I have seen similar - not quite a fire but hot sparks coming out the exhaust of a backup gen-set because the exhaust was rusting out as it was only started for a few minutes every 6 month).

There were two Alpina cars that were officially brought into NZ through BMW Group NZ, both B7 sedans I think. It was before my time, but from speaking to those that were here at the time it was an absolute nightmare getting the cars here and complied and registered in New Zealand. From what I have been told this was for a whole host of reasons so it took many, many months (if not years) to resolve. Then the cars were very hard to sell for anywhere near the expected price. So overall it was what is technically known as a "cluster" and has put everyone off ever contemplating the idea again. Which is a shame as they do build some very nice cars, and there is occaisionally enquiry though the dealerships to buy one.

/subscribed where's the popcorn emoji when you need one..

If you say so.

No, in your post you stated that only the tyres made any difference in a single stop. I would suggest there are many other factors involved when a modern ABS is included in the equation.
-
Don’t worry, the massive simplification of braking systems down to its only tyres isn’t really science. Back in the old days of single piston sliding calipers and mechanical / hydraulically actuated ABS systems the tyres and driver feel were big factors. In the modern world of computer controlled and modulated braking systems there is a lot more to it. As you have correctly pointed out having a brake system correctly calibrated and controlled makes a difference. A similar difference between an un-trained driver stomping on the pedal or a pro modulating braking pressure.

I have seen 335i pricing coming down, but not to the point of 335i wagon at $10k. Yes, the red one is high at $8k but I would say there is still a sizeable gap to a tidy 335i wagon. A poor condition 335 would be a much bigger money pit.

Not an M Sport so doesn’t look externally as good or have the sports seats. The red body colour over white leather with wood trim is not a common (read popular) combination, so unless it’s really hit a spot with you look for other examples. E91s are great all round cars, extremely practical and drive nicely, although as above the mags and lowering will probably have a negative effect on that.

This is a really nice example of the current F80 M3 with Competition Package, just popped up on TradeMe. Link is here... https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=2553440829 I know this car and owner, they live opposite my parents place in Napier. Don't be put off by the kms this car has been fastidiously looked after by it's current owner, and you would never believe it has travelled that far from the condition. Rare colour, and interior upholstery combo as well. If you are in the market for one of these, then this one is well worth a look.

From what I can see, I make the NZ new totals as follows: E92 M3 Coupes total of 114 units (spread across both models WD92 = 74 units, KG92 (LCI?) = 40 units) Of which a total of 56 were manuals, DCT was made standard about mid-way through it's life which is what I can remember. 54 were WD92 Models, only 2 of the later KG92 were manual. Only four cars had the "Competition Package" optioned on to them, and they were all DCT gearbox cars late on in production. When I get chance I'll see how many are still in the NZTA system, and I know there were quite a lot of these imported.

Get some sheep, will do it all for you!

Not many in manual, most were the DCT gearbox. I’ll have a look at the data tomorrow when I’m back in the office.

Let’s not make it personal...

I used an F30 330e for a couple of weeks, mostly just short commuting to and from work with a couple of slightly longer trips thrown in. Without knowing exactly how your weekly distance is covered in terms of number and distance of trips and facilities to charge up in between, it is very hard to say how the fuel consumption will work out for you. When and where you have access to a charger is quite key, at home overnight (on cheap power), at work (free power?) or any other stop off point. To be honest I spent a lot of time using the batteries as an "eBoost" to help with the acceleration for more performance rather than saving fuel. However, after a few days I did start to see how much fuel I could save and how little battery I could use and experimented between the various eDrive modes. The key part to getting the most out of it is to change your driving style, in terms of how you accelerate (goldilocks - not too much, not too little) and using the coasting and braking to regenerate the battery as mentioned above - long slow braking up to a stop gives best results, rather than stomping on the anchors. I was very keen to keep the 330e as it would have saved me quite a bit of money, however, I only got to use it for a couple of weeks. How it would work out for your useage can only really be shown by borrowing one for a week or two and trying it out..

Looks like both the front chassis rails are damaged, which would most likely cost too much to make a viable repair.
-
One key thing to look for on these would be the running in service at 2,000kms. Needs to be done, and very close to the 2,000km mark. F10 M5s are factory filled with a specific running-in oil in the engine and diff, which needs to be swapped for the long life at this point. Should be listed in the iDrive records and/or the service book.

Anyone ever EXPORTed a car from NZ to Europe?
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to Kodachrome's topic in General Discussion
When I got a CoC from BMW UK it did take a few days to come through. As newer Imports into NZ also need this same paperwork for compliance you can get them from BMW NZ. Not sure what the current asking price is though, sorry. -

If you are going to offer advice, I feel it can be beneficial to be accurate. ? When it turns up the other end, potentially without the correct paperwork the Irish authorities a very unlikely to say “semantics”.
