  1. I've had stuff with USPS disappear for two weeks at the same step in the process as you describe. They're just really hopeless. If it doesn't appear, you'll need to get Pelican Parts to follow up with USPS.
  2. Nice. Agreed on the muffler painting.

Another 800km+ roadtrip. Balmy in Turangi. Need to do the rear end bushings. The rear end feels a bit vague when it loads up in a hard corner. Deliberating on solid/poly/OEM options. Also got it put on a classic insurance policy. Cut my premium by 1/3rd with better cover. Stoked!
  4. Good buy Kyu. Very similar to mine. Even down to the same colour The factory manual NZ new 328i E36s with the ZF Transmissions are a great performance bargain. So impressed with mine for the money. Good call on the cooling gear, gotta be sure there isn't a time-bomb there!
  5. Nice work Brent. Look forward to seeing it.

    The new CSL

Grotesque thing. Looks like the fat old uncle of the CSL wearing a too-small yellow morph-suit. And sporting an underbite.
  7. 17" is the correct wheel size for e36s anyway
  8. Just buy the wheels, swap them over, refurb yours then sell the refurbs. Profit.

Thanks guys. Very rewarding, and a big learning experience for me too.

Odometer is working again. Garagistic replacement gears in place. Took it down to my bach near Taupo. Nearly 1000kms of running. No issues. Gratuitous engine bay photo.
  11. Yeah - they barely last 6 months for me. They should probably look into plasticized stickers for these new long-term warrants.

    Mmm

Belongs to a friend of a friend. Very nice indeed.
  13. Saw a nice silvery e30 318is coupe with a mtech2 spoiler on the harbour bridge. Old bloke driving, younger lady in the passenger's seat. Looked utterly lovely. Anyone from here?
  14. Good work. I've never managed to not make a gigantic mess draining coolant out of the block. I had to use a massive crowbar to get the water pump out of the block on my 328i. So just be prepared for that. P.S Try not to ingest too much coolant (even if you think it is yummy). I've heard it isn't very good for you.
  15. Those factory wheels with high quality rubber on them look refreshingly fantastic.
  16. They should bring the turbo badge back
  17. Just did this on the 328i. Not a hard job with the radiator out. Especially with the M3's self-bleeding cooling system. If it has the original water pump its a time bomb. Mine failed in the 328i at 170k, and could have very nearly cost me an engine.

    'THE' M3...

Sorry to see. Hope you're okay.
  19. So cool and unique. Glad it is all salvageable. Good to see it will be rescued.

Went for a drive out to Muriwai (and around the place a bit) to go for a jog on the beach. Car didn't skip a beat! Its the first time I've had the car in the windies proper, and I couldn't stop smiling. Plenty of power for me, and with the solid engine mounts, you really feel the engine. So glad that I deleted the power steering. It is a great budget option to improve steering rather than replacing the rack with a faster one from a e36/46, and doesn't have the effect of modernising the car (which I am trying to avoid). The steering loads up beautifully in corners, and the feedback is great. Not so heavy at slow speeds that you can't get it to do what you want with a bit of manhandling. It has just transformed the car and created a hugely engaging driving experience, which is really what this whole project was about. Could do with a LSD though.... Anyone have any recommendations on what the best option for sourcing a LSD would be? An e30 with illegitimate M-badges on 18" chromies and a fart cannon exhaust tried to race me on the way home. I did not engage. Have been speaking to DKM Fabrication in Wairau Valley about getting a new exhaust put together.
  21. I love this guy. What a character. Anal retentive to the 10th degree. I particularly like how the rev counter goes into the economy gauge. Such irony.
  22. I have a mostly intact m20b25 wiring loom you can have if you think it would help.
  23. God yes. I would be all over that.
