  1. Thanks @e46v12! appreciate the tip - will look into changing to a thicker oil Will live with the shudder for now, but plan to revert back to DMF at some point. Interestingly, the original clutch went to MP Auto and i had several conversations with Greg as I’m localish. They diagnosed buggered flywheel, but couldn’t source a direct replacement. i had to go with a single due to not easily finding one (locally or overseas) and bmw wanting $5k for a full setup - ouch! Plus i had to get it mobile and off my mechanics lift. Always look forward to your updates - admire your knowledge and skills - awesome stuff! 😁
  2. Great work. Just curious, what type of custom clutch and flywheel set up did you go with for both? And where did you source them? Reason for asking is i recently did a clutch in an e31 that is factory manual/m60’ Went from a DMF to a single flywheel setup and not quite happy with the amount of shudder it now has. cheers
  3. Is the answer not in the title of the Act? 😎
  4. Must be a good day - its been a mission but Oxford passed wof haha. Now to use it! Two ‘choice bro’s’ in one day hope thats a good sign 🤣
  5. Last FCP delivery for the year, merry early xmas! 😎
  6. Wow - an e38 750! It must be one of very last ones. Congrats on the BMW 'V' trifecta - V8, V10, V12!
  7. How ‘desirable’ is it? Say (or write) it often enough and it shall become, perhaps… 🤣
  8. E34 & e38 msport cos they are old skool cool!
  9. Have been a passenger in a lhd 850i once. Scared the crap out of me feeling so exposed to on coming traffic. Even all the driving lines felt messed up. Was then offered to drive. I politely declined. anyone pulling the trigger on any of these? 😁
  10. Any of these examples are well worth what they have been 'offered' for IMO. Happy to be corrected, but I'm confident that these will be well and truly the best examples, in tip-top condition, that you will probably find in NZ. The seller is known as an extreme e31 enthusiast and does things to the highest standards. And disclaimer, I don't know or have any affiliation with them. That Dakar CSi is a bargain for what it has been offered for! @Blackie- if the budget could stretch another $50k or so it would be worth it 😎
  11. Manual 840ci's are the bizness! 🤣 But that Dakar 850csi - omg!!
  12. Will it be safe to say the the seller is a ‘collector’ of 8’s? 😁. An awesome trio but the Dakar CSI is interestingly cool! It is the pick of the bunch for me 😎
  13. It was probably treated like it was a Camry. Or Prius for that matter haha
  14. Now sold? Hope whoever bought it has their eyes open 😁. Fuel pump x2 = cha-ching haha. Hope it gets saved!
  15. Admire the effort of a build like this one, but it's a yeah, nah from me - and not just cos its asking $120k 😊
  16. Great score! You definitely have a special wagon there.
  17. Agree ^ regularly shop through fcp and use fed-ex as the shipping option without any issues so far. Parts delivered within 10 days, on average, once they are shipped. And that's even through our current lockdown. My first go to place for parts.
  18. Thanks for the replies and suggestions. Quick update - managed to source an aftermarket clutch kit and flywheel from a business in Tauranga (assured that it will fit). It is going to be a conversion to a single flywheel, so this is going to be interesting (for me anyway). Kit arrived, quickly inspected by a specialist clutch shop (who had the original kit out of the car), who gave it a 'measurements are looking good and it should fit' when compared. So hopefully will be installed shortly 😎 I went with this option mainly as the kit was in country and the need to get it drivable and 'off the lift'. Oh - and the fact I got an eye watering quote from local BMW dealer with 6-8 weeks ex-Germany! I should really do a project thread... however it would go like this: something breaks/needs replacing -> take car to mechanic -> mechanic diagnoses which parts need replacing -> search RealOEM for part numbers -> copy/paste part numbers into FCP ->, buy parts -> check FED-EX tracking daily -> FED-EX deliver parts in 7-10 days -> take parts to mechanic-> parts installed by mechanic-> pay mechanic -> drive car home. Repeat steps one week later - haha
  19. Awesome to know @Eagle! After a little googling this is what I get - seems that OEM replacement is a LUK033 - FCP part is not available, ECS not in stock, no option available at RockAuto. Will keep researching... for parts novice 😁 FYI - Reference from RealOEM: No. Description Supp. Qty From Up To Part Number Price Notes 01 Twin Mass Flywheel D=265MM 1 21201223453 $1225.24 02 Dowel pin 10X23 3 11221709069 $5.83 03 Dowel D=14,5MM 1 11211736881 $2.87 04 Grooved ball bearing 15X32X10 1 11211720310 $22.42
  20. @BreakMyWindow - didn't think of RockAuto - my usual go to is FCP & ECS Tuning
  21. Thanks @aja540i! Very useful to know. I haven't gone to BMW. Yet 😀
  22. Mine is with a local clutch specialist and the initial prognoses isn't good. Was although the clutch plate is serviceable the fly wheel is, well yeah, buggered (my worst case scenario). They said that they generally steer away from these. They are currently explore next step, including finding a kit, converting to single mass as possible options. So in the meantime, keen to hear what options (and potential costs) are available and/or what others have done to source, replace etc. Its for an e31 with the S6S420g box mated to a m60 V8. Or even better, if anyone has a good/serviceable one laying around... 😎 Cheers
