Help - can drivers electric seat be manually adjusted to max height?
treone replied to treone's topic in Maintenance
Oops was meaning trying something square drive-ish 😎. Decided to leave it alone and re-install as it is. Reason - found out why it is listed as the motor and cable as one unit (bottom of pic by the nut - it aint coming out). Thanks BMW, thanks very much 🤣. at least i now know what the issue is for when it needs to be done to fix it 😎 thanks again @NZ00Z3, much appreciated! cheers -
Help - can drivers electric seat be manually adjusted to max height?

Thanks @NZ00Z3 confirm front and back movement works so will give this a go. But you’ve given me the idea to find an allen key that may fit into motor, which i will try first. RealOEM only lists the motor, which is only for the e31, and is NLA with usual suppliers. may have to get a cable made. Fun times😎 -
Help - can drivers electric seat be manually adjusted to max height?

Anyone got advice on how to manually raise the seat? Cheers. -
My drivers sport seat in my 840ci is stuck in the lowest position and I want to raise it. The motor runs when engaging the switch but the seat doesn't move. I've removed the seat to investigate and found that there is no bowden cable coming out of the motor that goes to the rear of the seat (markings on sheath: A=687mm) - there is only the sheath - what the? Is there a way to manually raise the seat to its maximum height whilst it is out of the car? I would like to do this before putting it back in tomorrow. Oh - and Google has not been my friend. Any tips is much appreciated. Cheers

Is This Where The E30 Market Is Now..?
treone replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in TradeMe discussions
How about the shark nose in the background of the first pic? 😁 Looks like it may be suffering from the same fate ☹️ -
Don’t think there is anything off with the length of ownership with this one. From memory, current owner purchased early in 2017 from the dealer. That's when I enquired about it as well. Therefore, 5 years is about right. Cheers

One of the best colour combos imo. Don’t think it matters that it is an early car either - it is just o for awesome! Almost traded the e60 m5 for this when it was being sold by the dealer. Hindsight is awesome isn’t it 😎

Thats pretty cool

Was wondering how long it was going to get there - oh well, fair enough haha 😁 At least it hasn't got to 'it's part of 'the establishments' master plan to inflate petrol/oil prices along with the introduction of the gas guzzler tax (or whatever its being called) to make the national shift to EV's - oops sorry - a younger, less polluting and more efficient national fleet faster' theory. Just saying 🤣 I have to admit that this is the first time I've contemplated a more 'fuel efficient' alternative as it will get a lot more painful running a bunch of V8's - but the smile factor! Even have thoughts of a diesel or, yup I'm saying it, an EV - the in-laws electric trike is looking like an attractive proposition!! But in all seriousness, for me, the part I'm most worried about is the ripple effect and the impact this will have on certain groups in our society. Its tough now but things will only get... a perfect storm is a brewing...

Thanks @qube i did - tapped into the ashtray light wiring which will never be used again for its original intended use lol. All up took about 40min to do. No electrical shorts or fire so a very happy chappie 😎. Now just need to drive at night or early morn to get the full benefit haha 😁

Upgraded to a genuine ‘M’ illuminated gear knob for one of the e31’s - made it work and period correctish too! Not sure if its right to get excited about a gear knob, but hey, i am haha 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks to @qube for a great deal - top member!

Agreed! The 'pain on the wallet' is not exclusive to filling up at the pump. The expense, and availability of 'everyday' consumable items will make if difficult for quite a few in the future, if not already. As mentioned it is very complex!

What's the thinking out there regarding the current increases, and continuing increases, to the price of petrol? To be clear - No this thread isn't intended to debate what's happening in Russia-Ukraine (but I'm in no way endorsing the situation). And no its not a ICE v EV (or the end of ICE vehicles) debate either. Just curious on the thoughts out there but I do ask to be 'pleasant' and 'respectful' when expressing them. Cheers.

Another E60 M5 on TM with the BEST opening question.......
treone replied to Twistee's topic in TradeMe discussions
…which was derived from the F1 engine development programme of the same era 🤣🤣 -
Anyone keen on a lung and an 840ci so i can have a shot at this bahaha 🤣🤣🤣. think i’ve seen this one a couple of times parked in the wellington cbd. A nice example that looked like it was actually being used - and not just a garage queen! awesome combo too
-
All good @NZ_InFerno and actually makes sense to keep with the car. Should've said in my post - awesome work too!
-
@NZ_InFerno - what's your plan for the old gear knob? could be interested as a temporary one for the e31 until I can find a period correct m-logo gear knob...

M539 Restorations on YouTube - must watch!

Thanks @Jacko - thats not too bad for what you’re getting 😁. Hmmm… might need to revisit 😎!
-
Big fan of the Stinger! @Jacko - interested to hear what range between fill ups you are getting on your trip. Very tempted to get one but the smallish (50l?) tank makes me a little hesitant.

^^ This! A mazda 6 sounds a like a good option - or alternatively, a Camry haha 🤣. IMO - Since the company is purchasing probably best to go with what they are ‘comfortable’ with rather than any personal preferences. Do hope you find something suitable, and acceptable, though.
-
Correct - mated to 6-speed box. Never thought of this but could be a possibilty. It probably won't be for a little while though, as I have other priorities at the moment and as I accumulate the replacement parts. Probably best to PM for details etc. Cheers

Thanks again @e46v12 I wasn't 100% sure about compatibility between m60 and m62, Google can be confusing most times 😀. As kindly confirmed by yourself, I will use this set-up for my other e31 then get a second set later on to revert my other one back to DMF. A costly exercise but two sets for less than one genuine kit is a bargain - that's fun of having twin classic BMW's haha. Appreciated once again, cheers!

Genuine question - is there any benefit of a hybrid for long distance travel? eg a 1000km return trip? i do several trips a year from wellington to whakatane in a v8. Cost doesn't deter me but after just doing 1800kms in less than two weeks got me thinking this same thing - diesel or hybrid? Something that is comfortable, practical and fuel efficient and not just the home to work, work to home commute. And fulfill fishing duties 😎. An X5? Ford Everest/Territory? Izusu ‘u-x? Hokden Trailblazer? Kia Sorento? Sorry EV, you’re out for now 🤣
