Correct A lot of servicing would have not been done yet. Only benefit of low kms is potentially less wear and tear as its been used less. Seals, hoses, gaskets still need replacing though 15 years is a while!

Ask for a pay rise at work, or come up with a ways to make more money to offset such fuel increase. Everything is getting more expensive, so you have to respond in kind. Smartest thing to do would be to buy a straight 6, V8 or V12 and enjoy yourself, paid for by new revenue streams. At the end of the day it's the journey that counts, not not the destination. I have three V8s now and a one diesel. More will be added in due course. Life is good. That would be a very large no. Generally from what I've seen an electric version of a car is 500-750kg more weight than it's petrol or diesel equivalent. Cars have gotten heavier with more tech over the years, but on top the the batteries have added huge amounts of weight that will be harder on the road, and wear out tyres faster. The instant torque if used repeatedly on the same piece of road would likely rip it up faster than what any petrol or diesel car could do. Electric cars should have the weight factored in as well at lack of fuel taxes they are paying when calculating a RUC I suspect car crashes are also going to be much more catastrophic in future too given the extra weight and potential for a battery fire that can't be easily put out. Perhaps ACC levies for electric cars should also be higher. There needs to be some redirected funding that would need to go to the fire crews having to learn new methods and buy new equipment to deal with such lithium blazes, as well as be trained on the electrocution risks

Just pondering about what the legality and issues might be when people make those replica police cars - obviously local AU / NZ ones are a no go, but overseas models that are older and clearly not typical police cars local to the area seem to be made occasionally. I understand a car saying "police" is not allowed, nor flashing lights, and the lights are typically needed to be covered when the car is driven on the public road but does anyone have anymore guidance / opinion on such. Cheers!

I see Nissan with their Nismo heritage program is now making a new OEM spec titanium exhaust for R32 GT-R models No doubt that would cost moonbeams, but still it's nice to see the dedication some manufactures are putting in

Fedex has been super screwed up in recent months due to the industrial strike they had in Australia, its been slow ever since, I've had a number of slow items, and they usually took a week.

Nearly got the engine back together on the 540i, draining the fuel tank tomorrow and refilling, time to start it up after that! Better make sure I put the exhaust front section on before I do though haha

I hate the vibe of old tyres, just not worth the risk of getting dodgy ones. They might roll and hold air, and grip ok, but under extremes of emergency braking, cornering in the wet etc tyres that are loosing their performance edge due to age can fail to work as efficiently so it makes sense to just spend the extra and get a fresh set.

Oh right, I only read car magazines and things from the 1950 to 1990s as that is all I'm interested in. I like to fix & drive old cars so would never buy anything new, plus they're out of my price range.

I'm just confused at what spec this car is, is it one of BMWs new economy electric cars? Looking at the design it seems like they are going for a lower cost minimalist approach to make them cheaper for the mass market, are they more affordable than previous electric models?

A these the low cost successor to the i3? The low rent interior looks even more basic than a prius if that's possible. I guess it makes sense you get what you pay for if they are affordable to most new Zealanders as an entry level electric car.

Getting the driveshaft done is oddly satisfying as you now know you can now physically put the power down with the new engine. A very fun part of the build process sorting out such vital parts.

Looking beauitful! How many mm are things off with the distortion? I was always worried about that when doing my headers but given the thickness wasn't an issue. A bit of heat and some strategic wacks or prying with a metal bar will likely be the go to sort it.

Is it worthy of a picture for the extra lols?
