  3. There are 156 registered 540i models in NZ so still a fair few to add on. Some might be on hold But at least the vast majority will be used, but a number will be garaged and rarely come out, owner not on forums or facebook, makes tracking them down hard.
  4. I think it will depend what specific brand / quality gasket you used for the sump. On my engine the lower oil sump Victor Reinz gasket I used had rubber/silicon as part of the fiber material to improve sealing ability, others are more plain without the rubber/silicon seals so may have worse performance if there are surface imperfections Preparation is also key, the surface would need to be pretty clean and smooth, without any bends in the lower sump pan upper edge. I've used LOCTITE® MR 5923 on a number of gaskets in my M60 has a gasket dressing where I thought it was applicable, for the sump I used it on the upper pan gasket both sides, but didn't use any on the lower sump which had the rubber/silicon sealing edge. Time will tell how well these seal, but I will redo them if they leak.

  7. E46 would be easier for a run around. Lots of parts and models to choose from An E34 might soldier on but they need a fair bit of TLC now that they are mostly 30 years old to be a nice enjoyable car. A rough or average E34 is not what I would call enjoyable haha. I used to own the one that sold for 2k, was reasonable enough when I had it 12 years ago. I remember the driveshaft center bearing was possibly shot, and power steering would get heavy when accelerating so there were a few things that needed doing back then, not sure if those details were looked into. It was a crashed damaged re-registered car. I did change the front end suspension arms but didnt use Lemforder. Seems it was parked up around 2015.

    Wowie! Probably the best non M3 E46 I've seen. Great work sir.

  13. Probably one of the most amazing sounding production(?) cars ever made.
  14. Lots of work but I am not really sure what the result is supposed to be. Just looks like a lot of stuck on parts that have been stuck on well. Personally I'd much rather see an OEM style V8 E30 swap, maybe with mods to make it like an M3.

Probably not a heck of a lot, maybe some back pressure differences, to be fair most of the exhaust losses would be caused by the headers, the internal diameter and some of the angles are pretty brutal but the do the job and are nice being double walled for cooler engine bay temps / metallic sound dissipation.
  16. For the price of $2-3K for an Eisenmann exhaust box I'd rather do this because its considerably cheaper and more fun, it also preserves the stock look of the car, I want zero aftermarket parts on it. But of course it depends how it sounds, I am confident it will sound quite good, but if not back to the drawing board!
