  1. I have a set (of 6) RX's with 235/40 semi-slicks. 17x8 et38 PM email addy if you want pics
  2. Looking good Brent!! With having those nice hi-comp pistons & lumpy sticks are you going to run out of breath through the stock airbox/AFM?? Also given the S38's had airboxes quite a bit bigger and MAF's... Are you going to be running on the stock ecu (& AFM) etc...

Had the same issue with Bond and Bond (same group) when our old Samsung plasma died 6mths out of warranty, after many phone calls recalling the CGA & manufactures specs and how the product did not meet either = new TV in the end.

Do any of them play .MOV with the AIC CODEC? For playing back iMovie HDV. Most seem to need re-encoded Mpeg H.264 MOV's.
  5. Bugger that!! Looks like they forgot to put air in the tyres or it is running on a set these:
  6. Looks good. A friend of mine had a MkV GTi (w/DSG), was a nice car, rode well and enjoyable to drive. Plus looks much nicer than any eqv. on the market, like the Focus or those butt-ugly Megane's. I still think the Mk5 looks a bit nicer than the Mk6 though...
  7. And you can see exactly why I don't have an E30 / E36 Compact backend in my E30 anymore!!!!
  8. Just waiting for the rain to stop & for day light to get you some pics.
  9. I also have a set of 6 with used Dunlop semi-slicks (235/40 D01J's) if you are interested. They are track wheels, so not super clean or shiny, but all are true & round (they couldn't afford not to be!!).
  10. You often don't see big power increases on 1UZ's with SC's compared to turbo'd 1UZ's. There is a Supra in Chch (you may know it) with a 1UZ + Garrett GT40 and IIRC it is seeing ~250kw on 5psi. Link to Lextreme (not sure if you need to be a member?) I imagine the torque increase would be more significant over stock in your case?? One Q, how come the boost isn't near constant? Or does that only apply to a Roots type blower & not a twin-screw?? The boost curve looks more like that of a centrifugal SC
  11. Would be great in an E36 or E46 Touring!!
  12. 540 calipers are wider than the 535 calipers (discs are 28mm Vs 22mm thick), but must fit over the 25mm Audi disc? (mike). Anything can fit with an adaptor, but it also depends on the disc diameter, eg. the 535/audi combo uses a 315mm disc. When I did my BBK there were no off the shelf options. The 996 Mono-block Brembo calipers are stiff and light, have dust boots and are made for use with a 'boosted' system. Calipers like Wilwoods (the other option at the time) mention they are not to exceed 1200psi (IIRC) line pressure and are meant to be used non-boosted/assisted. The porsche calipers are also radial mounted, so rotor diameter changes are easily adapted and the Wilwoods (SL6R) I looked at were almost 2x the price of the lug mount variant (this was 5+ yrs ago remember). I got the calipers from the UK and were 'like new'. I run them with Pagid RS4-4 (Orange) and it's pretty eye-popping with big sticky tyres on the track. I can just squeeze 16's over the front, and surprisingly 15's over the rears. But you need plenty of spoke-caliper clearance...
  13. Isn't the 250 GT the bottom of the line though?? 2.5 NA 165kw VQ25de ie. Replacement of the old R34/33/32 2.5 GT RB25de (not the turbo GTS-t or GT-T) The 350 GT & 350 GT-8 are the more enticing with the 3.5 NA 232kw VQ35de I recall seeing a best motoring vid with one getting a paddling from the IS-F, M3 & C63 AMG
  14. Seeing you are in Chch, I would suggest seeing Les Hunter, he helped me out heaps with my E30. He had some good medium cost / practical solutions, not all pie in the sky big dollars stuff. I think Mike also tried (or had the parts) for the 540/Audi MBK, which is good if you don't have lots of space for fixed calipers, might pay to pick his brains. [edit] The other option for "factory" type upgrades is going to the E36 5lug, which you can leave stock @ 275x22 or use E46 328 300x22 or E46 330 325x25, both of which "bolt on"[/edit] All depends what you plan to do with the car. Having "Been there, Done that" you will need bigger brakes.
  15. Might want to do a quick calc and check the front "track width" hasn't increased. 12.5mm per side isn't much.
  16. refer section 10-1 LVVTA Thresholds
  17. I'd say a fine would be unlucky, having a prang resulting in someone actually reading the cert plate, finding you in breach of it and thus illegally operating the motor vehicle (regardless of having a current WOF) meaning no insurance = super unlucky, but your own fault and hope like f*#k you don't hit something worth more than your sorry ass... The details on the cert plate (like wheels & engine) are essentially additional constraints to the standard WOF regulations. However, I've never had my ride height or wheel/tyre size checked when going for a WOF, doesn't mean it is "OK" though. From my discussions some years ago with my certifier, you are still allowed the +/- 5% (IIRC) on the tyre size (based on rolling circumference and diameter from the vehicles tyre placard) & the ride height noted on the cert. plate. You could also get multiple wheel sizes certified if you were are able to present at the time of certification inspection. also FYI a 245/40 R17 fits in the E30 spare wheel well.
  18. The rears may even be 9's from looking at them. Would go nice with the pair I already have
  19. I used E36 M3 EVO (+'96) control arms, they weren't as expensive as you think!!
  20. Thanks Team!! Updates on the E30 front are depressingly slow, infact I had to steel parts from it to fix a burst watermain on Good Friday About 1/3 of the way through building my first turbo manifold, what a hideous job. The engine & gearbox are all mounted in their new location and keeping my eyes open for a good deal on a pedal box (floor mount, missed a good one on TM a few months back & still kicking myself).
  21. Not really diggin' the MK's sorry. Still love the bread wagon regardless...
  22. Have you compared the spec's to say a macbook charger? Looks identical (other than the connector). May be a DIY candidate?
  23. I've used Mainfreight & JD Lyons, both were good, Depot to Depot, ~$80 for a set of 17" wheels with tyres
  24. Or you've been listening to Gorge Plasa's E36+Judd V8 too much.....
  25. For a car of that caliber, 2x the expected would still be a steal. But suspect that it has "no paper work" with it, even if it was a "spare" car, it would still have all the FIA, homologation & build info. As for running and maintaining, I def. would think it's in the "if you have to ask..." ($$) category, and you would want to be pretty familiar with the BMW Motorsport catalogue. Don't think I can con' the wife into trading her Altezza
