E30 325i Rag-Top 2956 Report post Posted February 7, 2013 Got a warrant on the convertible at the week-end, and gave it a quick spit-and-polish and a check over. Then it rained for two days... But thanks to a nice sunny Waitangi day yesterday got to take the kids to the beach in it with the roof down for the first time in ages. Remembered what a great car it is to drive in the sun! BM WORLD 1283 Report post Posted February 10, 2013 got the key for the 98 750il on friday. opened the boot first to see all the goodies locked in there. found 2 batterys hooked up in there with some rather large jumper cables (both dead flat from sitting there for about 3-4 years). fitted a new battery in there , now opened the locked doors , checked the oil and water and fired her up nice V12 sound , swapped the flat tyre for the spare and took her for a drive . runs really well , nice and smooth . now just to swap the wheels for the style 32's clean it , fix all the little things. and run it through for compliance etc.

huff3r 347 Report post Posted February 12, 2013 More ripping it apart today, got the dash out, trying desperately to figure out the easiest way to remove the fuse box (looks like the whole damn body loom has to go through the firewall, and I haven't stripped the back end of the car... I was hoping not to need to. Also sliced 2 fingers, busted 2 knuckles and broke plenty of clips.

I was hoping not to need to. Are you saving it then? (yay! if you are) Get a buddy to hold back the fuse box and use a heat sheild of some sort between welder and fuse box (that's how my panel beater did mine) *should* be enough slack to get it out of the way. Will take pics of my epic rust when i pick it up tomorrow Also sliced 2 fingers, busted 2 knuckles and broke plenty of clips. means you did it correctly oh the joy. Guess sh*t like this makes driving it afterwards all the more sweeter Edited February 12, 2013 by dubman

huff3r 347 Report post Posted February 12, 2013 Are you saving it then? (yay! if you are) Yup, I'm planning to! Not as the semi-decent roadcar it once was, but more of a track-attack weapon (when the money starts rolling in ) Get a buddy to hold back the fuse box and use a heat sheild of some sort between welder and fuse box (that's how my panel beater did mine) *should* be enough slack to get it out of the way. Will take pics of my epic rust when i pick it up tomorrow Not a bad idea, although the rust is all around the hole for the grommet... but maybe I'll just wrap the wiring loom in carpet, and be very slow and careful with the welding. means you did it correctly oh the joy. Guess sh*t like this makes driving it afterwards all the more sweeter Definitely. My hands are mangled, and I don't care. Much redbull has been consumed already, and lots more to come. Gaz 1058 Report post Posted February 16, 2013 Covered 1000km last weekend on a camping trip so spent the day cleaning, installing the arm rest (including retro cassette holder) and new bonnet badge. Tried to fit the coilovers in but far too tight so need to get a air gun before I play further.
Mark 178 Report post Posted February 21, 2013 Just bought this today for the GF to replace her MX5. Needs a few things doing (headlining, door cards, idle issue) but otherwise it's pretty tidy.
Mark 178 Report post Posted February 24, 2013 Bit of light detailing. Found enough dog hair in this thing to make a whole new dog.
jeffbebe 1559 Report post Posted February 24, 2013 Put a new squab in the driver's seat and replaced the little pins that clip the bowden cable that adjusts seatbelt height on both front seats. Ended out chopping up the old squab to pad out the driver's seat a bit as the springs have slackened a bit over time. The seat doesn't look perfect but it's super comfortable now. hybrid 1043 Report post Posted February 25, 2013 Recoding DWA
jeffbebe 1559 Report post Posted February 25, 2013 Recoding DWACool. Is it possible to recode the DWA in other ways? I've always preferred the alarm to be disabled if the remote key fob is used but not the key lock. Would also quite like the indicators to flash when the alarm is enabled/disabled (or locked/unlocked).
