Navin 180 Report post Posted January 15, 2021 Agree. although this time wasn't as bad as my 135i, that came back with massive swirls/scratches that took me bloody ages to fix up. Will give it a light buff tomorrow and ring them to see it they can put a note in the system to never wash it when it's in.
Driftit 2078 Report post Posted January 18, 2021 It just keeps coming at the moment. Large oil leak causing oil to pool around the 3rd coil. It then drips onto the hot exhaust. I replaced the valvetronic gasket which had a slow leak only a few months ago. Can't tell yet but it must have failed again. We'll see I guess. Two cars out of action now. Sammo 2544 Report post Posted January 23, 2021 (edited) Been chasing a bad rattle (metal on metal kind of sound in front part of car) for the past week or so. Car came back from workshop last Friday for driveshaft hoop install - then last Saturday I installed a short shifter and front and rear upgraded sway bars - so made it a bit harder on myself with all the changes at once.. First noticed the rattle over bumps etc on Sunday and have been chasing my tail on it ever since - first assumed it was the M3 front bar hitting something, then thought it was my end links and then thought it could even be my new short shifter linkage being too close to the driveshaft... So I reinstalled the factory shifter and removed the front bar and end-links and it was still there. I also checked and re-torqued my lower strut bolt, strut nuts and strut mount nuts - still no joy. I don't believe the driveshaft hoops are the culprit, although the rear one is very close to the exhaust. Finally, I remembered I also had the shop change my transmission mounts - just checked those and the lower nuts were VERY loose - like no resistance with a very short handled 3/8" ratchet... Tightened those up which will *hopefully* be problem solved. Dinner time though so will have to test drive again in the morning - fingers crossed! Edit: Knock / rattle is still there FFS, will need to take it back to the shop 😐 Edited January 24, 2021 by Sammo
lord_jagganath 421 Report post Posted February 19, 2021 Frustrating that I can't seem to get in touch with my bank or mortgage advisor for the past two weeks, trying to buy a first home in Auckland during a pandemic with much competition from investors sucks. Driftit 2078 Report post Posted February 19, 2021 Yeah that's a bit sh*t. Best thing you could do is leave Auckland. Currently building a house and big shed on a 3500m2 section for less than the cost of a 400m2 section in Auckland. And I'm only an hour on the Bullet train to Wellington. 4

Driftit 2078 Report post Posted February 20, 2021 Spent all Saturday chasing why the Mrs 200SX is running incredibly rich. First time it has been out in 5 years. Did all the usual prep before starting a stored car. It ran pretty well for a short drive then started running way too rich. The last thing I have to check (she has spares for nearly everything) is the dropping resistor for the injectors. So many shortcuts were taken by the dropkick that built the motor in this car. A "Performance" shop in Paraparaumu with a pretty well known bad rep. It's so frustrating not finding the parts you are looking for or finding simple things like grounds not connected. I spose the biggest questions are where the F did the HKS cams go? And how did the head repair the port and polishing that was done?

You should stop listening to media who are pissing in the govts pockets to hide their incompetence and broken promises around housing. Lodged bonds for Auckland rental properties have been lower over the previous five months than closed bonds. Active bonds for Auckland are lower year on year, despite over 16,000 new dwellings being consented throughout 2020. Investor lending is significantly down to what it was in 2019 and before. Investor lending only makes up 25-30% of total lending for residential properties. Around the same as FHB and half of owner occupiers who've owned a house previously. Media are using investors as the scape goat. Investors have bailed out of the market due to increased red tape and risk, so rental stock is reduced further, as demand for emergency housing increases. Watch the media continue to bash investors over this while the government & the unintended consequences of their failed policies are let off the hook. But yeah, a lot of the time banks are useless, more so now they're closing up a lot of branches and all their specialists have gone mobile. I was in the process of buying a rental in Levin 2016 which was just before the 60% LVR came through for investors. I was ready to put the offer in but had no reply from the bank for the week. Only for them to come back with they won't lend due to too high LVR. Rant - is it a new trend for the flogger brigade in the dual cab Utes to fit extremely negative off set rims, then running ten or 12 inch tyres. Might start selling cheap wheel bearing kits for when they need to be replaced every WOF. Edited February 20, 2021 by coop

NZ BMW 368 Report post Posted February 21, 2021 The MIQ system which is so limited and inflexible meaning I can’t get offshore to see customers who you can only really make progress with in person. I just wish we could take the view of doing everything we can as safely as we can. Rather than just locking down into Fortress NZ and doing as little as possible... I’ll probably get crucified for that view but so be it.

You can leave whenever you want. You just can't come back quickly and that's inconsequential to the rest of us. Sorry. I'm open minded to a better solution but nobody has come up with one yet. Although I do like the idea of building a 3000 head quarantine facility near an airport. The problem with that is Labour have proven they can't build anything quickly so we'd all be vaccinated by the time it opened. Within probably 6-8 months your vaccination certificate will be a free pass back into the country, that's a small wait in the scheme of things.

A problem with building seems to be finding a decent builder who can start inside the next 6 months! Of course, the vast majority of people really did expect C-19 to be a done deal by now, when the reality is that it could be with us for years. That's going to require a shift in mindset and approach.

The investor profile has changed quite dramatically. It's now the mom & pop investors, with their equity in a property they've owned for 20 years, who are buying up property, instead of the perhaps more familiar fat cats. I know of several people in Auckland who are also finding that they cannot buy because they cannot readily find sensible lending. They're paying $2.5k+ a month in rent, but can't get a mortgage which would cost them a lot less.

It should be hard/expensive for anyone voluntarily leaving NZ during the pandemic to return to NZ again (with certain exceptions, funerals overseas etc).

Although... they make it so restrictive to get in... but do it so half-assed that it doesn't actually work properly. Family members who paid for quarantine had several "accidental" interactions with other quarantiners, that simply should never have happened!

Blackie 510 Report post Posted July 25, 2021 A parking company sent me a letter for $80 threating ruined credit ratings and all that jazz. Perhaps I misunderstood 'opting-out' with NZTA, but I thought this would prevent these situations? Just for the record - on the day in question the parking machine wouldn't take my card, so I phoned the 0800 number and paid over the phone. Spent the last half an hour filling out a form, writing a letter, scouring bank statements (May), printing, scanning, emailing - feel for those not in an office who don't have these resources easily to hand - a big waste of everyone's time. You can only opt-out of having your details being made widely and publically available. Any person, or company, can still apply to NZTA with a reason why they want your details. For reasons such as this I suppose, you can’t always trace the people, but the car is central to the reason.
