Drove to Napier and back this weekend - just under 1000kms round trip - and it was an absolute pleasure. So much grip in the twisties it's insane and more than enough power to make the very best of the steep uphill passing lanes between Taupo and Napier. Engine absolutely purred and managed a 12.7L/100 average despite some spirited driving. That may not sound that flash but is pretty amazing compared to the 24L/100 she sits on with my general weekend use! Unfortunately, the AC compressor developed a death rattle halfway. I'm picking failed clutch bearing as the same thing happened to my old E39. Probably cheaper to replace the unit than repair, so hoping I can find a good used one. It was stinking hot in the Bay, so it was a tad sweaty on the return journey but that's what the big pillarless coupe windows are for. I am deaf now though and my hair looks like Kramer from Seinfeld. Forgot to take the camera so had to rely on phone pics...

So this turned up last night. Rolling E28 525i manual chassis. Still registered but no engine or running gear. So basically a blank canvas. Idea is to build a low and low budget rider for beach hop next year. Things I'll need to start looking at, - E34 540, complete car. Preferably decent engine and running gear, chassis can be in crap condition as I'll Land up scrapping it. The cheaper the better - Either full adjustables or possibly air bags for as low as possible. - 17" BBS mesh or similar. - E28 lower front bumper But for now I'll start letting the 'paint' job set in after stripping the car down this up coming week

My quest to battle the insane oil temps finally descended in to going all out. At the same time I decided to replace anything on the belt that had a bearing ... Coolant thermostat Water pump Tensioner pulley bearing Guide pulley New belt Alternator ICV to head vacuum drain pipe Internal oil thermostat replaced with external Mocal thermo -8 replaced with -10 AN lines and fittings Vac s50 oil housing to -10 AN adapter. Machined oil diverter valve to allow 100% flow Various elbows and separators The problem with the internal thermostat is that it only allows 33% of the oil when fully open to the cooler. Because I run a larger cooler the oil was not cycling through the cooler properly. It was taking 30mins of driving to even get hot. So it wasn't flowing at all. Effectively making it so I didn't have a working oil cooler. I came up with a much better solution which would push 100% of the oil through the cooler, however it did away with the internal oil thermostat which isn't ideal on a road car. So I sourced a external Mocal oil thermostat which is fully closed under 80 degrees C then will open and allow up to 100% flow to the cooler, which is what I was after! There is one draw back to this option, you are now pushing full pump pressure through a system that isn’t designed for it. So and upgrade of the size of pipe and fittings was in order. I went for -10 AN fittings in a nice black colour (I'm not usually into dazzly colours) and in keeping with mostly stock look. Removed Stock oil thermostat. And replaced with the diverter valve Installed the new Vac oil housing -10 adpater Installed all the boring stuff.. Made up some lines And installed nice 90 degree AN elbows for the oil cooler. Had to install 7/8-14 UNC to -10 adapters .. imperial sucks. Now to finish up tonight and burn everything in... Doing the oil took a while priming all of the lines but lucky isnt something I have to do too often as its really a two person job.

installed the new radiator, along with some new hoses and expansion tank cap. Lets hope this fixes the fluctuating coolant temp problem I was chasing!

Hi all, haven't posted any pics of the E30 since I got it back, so here's a couple. As many of you know I sold this car three years ago and recently got the opportunity to buy it back. I'd always regretted selling it so it was a no-brainer really. Changes since I sold it: - Fitted with correct size 205/50/15 RE001's - Koni adjustables in front paired with the H&R springs I put in - Braided brake lines Specs for those who don't know the car '87 325i sedan (SA built) Manual conversion with Z3 short shift Rebuilt M20B25 AC Schnitzer body kit 15" BBS RS 001's Lowered on H&R sport springs Lots of things to be done as funds allow but in terms of driveability it's now sorted to the point where I can just enjoy it.

Been there and done that on the 740i and they've just gone in the 750i so I have to do it again. Not something I'm looking forward to. If I remember right I had to go through the outer vent on the bonnet as well as through the underside. Your 7's looking sharp. Very nice.

Dunno what you mean it's listed as "same As M-sport interior / boot badge" so it's got all the important bits..Even though the interior isn't M-sport, and the front MSportII bumper looks to be a replica...

The E38 failed a WOF on an inactive windscreen washer - so go a new pump from Brent - fitted - victory! But the extra pressure seems to have caused the brittle pipes under the bonnet to crack! FAIL! Now that is a fiddly job to fix....sigh. Went for drive to Colville after giving up in frustration..... Anyone know an easy fix for windscreen washer pipes? Update - now fixed with new pipe and warrant scored - score! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was planning on something near 35 for the front.. Unless move it up to 9" with 40? OEM is 41 on 8 and it seeps into the car way to much for my liking. I've emailed Harvey with what I'm after so hoping he'll be the expert on this

May look at some plastic molding a bit later. Cheers Brent. I've got a towbar on the 740i so I thought I'd delete the one on the 750i and give it that clean look. I just need to find a unmolested rear bumper at some stage and when bills allow..lol
