3 pointsYup, they're Xenon. No Angel eyes yet but they're on the to do list. As is this now..lol Another interesting thing happened this morning when I started it up and began backing out the driveway. There where 2 new alarms going off randomly. To be honest it freaked me out a bit and my first reaction was to check the dash for errors. ha ha. Turns out I did something right when I put the front of the car back together. The PDC is now working. Working so well I've just had to cut the long grass that had gone to seed up the top of the driveway cause it was setting the front and rear PDC alarms off at the same time.. lmao

2 pointsOh so pretty. Painting the last wheel now. I was going to paint the r/rear window trim piano black but I'm thinking I'm going to run out of time before the weekend so I'll just have to live with it..lol Wash, polish and groom the interior and I'm ready to go.

2 pointsI'm sure I just rang customs gave them my shipping # and credit card details and they released the item. I also got a customs client number for future imports haven't had to use it though

1 pointthe monitor itself will not work as a 16:9 on a 4:3 tv tuner. I speak from experience. You need to change the package. Monitor and module. Be careful and avoid hassles....

1 pointIf you can parallel import the genuine wiring harness you will save yourself alot of grief and money. I can say from experience that those cheap aftermarket harnesses work poorly with the canbus multiplexed systems and will cause disruptions to your diagnostics and light operation etc. I don't have enough fingers to count the times I've removed aftermarket wiring to replace with genuine after customer complaints. Save yourself the hassle. Look up someone like all euro parts, speed nz or even bm workshop. Failing those ebay is usually a cheap source for oe parts.

1 pointDo the Chev or Ford clutches actually work yet though??? The bonus with going OEM, is it's going to be as good as OEM - maybe not the ultimate, but very "known"... going with something that's had "variable" results reported could lead to depression down the track

1 pointBefore I get a proper race seat, I really wanted to get rid of the crappy stained standard seats. Managed to source some M-Cloth Motorsport seats thanks to the Dave ( SilverFox ) and they finish off the interior nicely.

1 pointThe grilles really lift that front end. Has the barge got xenon lights? Some angel eye rings would dress it up i reckon. Is there a retrofit kit?

1 pointLOL! Probably soon I think! I haven't been neutralised yet (Aussie citizen) but I am technically a 'preferred alien.' I'm hanging out to see what VW Aust do about my Diesel Golf...... how's the 500k engine going? Your's is the highest km one I've heard of. Compression on mine was in the 190s with one cylinder at 170 when we woke it up after 3 years under a tree. All highway miles by one owner before I bought it about a year ago. Just about to refresh it over xmas.

1 pointFrom an engineering perspective no, because that is part of the chassis rail and not simply sheet metal, you can see the part that sways underneath the damaged stone protection. If you damage your chassis rail, you'll have bigger problems that a warrant. Sorry to sound a downer, but as per your photo that is what you're dealing with.

1 pointlol I like tennis, V8's Moto, SBK and I still watch F1... although I'm not really sure why any more. It was fine when I lived in Europe and the races started at 2pm but midnight races test me... I can't stand deferring the viewing because spoilers kill it for me and I now work at Sky TV and there's a flipping TV in almost every corner of every building - there's no chance I could go a whole day without seeing or hearing about the results. I need McLaren and Fernando to be up there next year or I'll possibly give up. The politics and drama are more entertaining than the racing at the moment.

1 pointIt is an inspection item only if one is fitted... the inspection is to make sure it is secure and doesn't become a missile in an accident. It is not required for the WOF.

1 pointI had the same issue when I imported an LSD center recently, you literally just have to keep chasing them. Call this number, 0800 428 786, discuss the situation and they will probably say it hasn't been processed yet and then they will likely put you through to the international mail team at NZ Post, the latters phone isn't always managed so you will have to keep calling them until they answer..ridiculous. Basically all packages that need duty paid on them go in these massive cages and NZ Post process the cages in lots, not package by package, so it may happen once a week for example - because that process is logical....and then it is passed onto Customs to collect the duty and then the package is released. I agree re comments about managing the tax on all goods when they can't do a certain group, my diff centre sat at customs for a month, before the international team called me up to confirm it wasn't a business expense...they then on-forwarded it to customs, and I dealt with an customs customer service email address (not wait for a letter to be posted). Paid, and then the item was sent, I think 5 weeks after it arrived in NZ. The main learning I had was when buying items that you know will be over the $400 threshold to try and pay extra and use a company such as Fedex or DHL if possible who will deal with customs and invoice you duty fees on behalf, rather than say a cheaper freight company such as USPS where you become the go between between NZ Post and Customs. Hope that helps.

1 pointshould have just googled it.. my bad lol.. i thought a spare was a requirement Is my spare tyre part of the inspection?Yes. Although you don't require a spare tyre, if your vehicle has a spare tyre, it must be secured in some instances ("space saver" tyres require a sticker on the tyre).
-
1 pointWhat carrier does that come in by? USPS? If so, contact NZ Post on 0800501501. Last time I did it they gave me a custom's reference number to pay them money, customs will ok it and give permission to release then I can collect from international mail centre at Auckland Airport the next day. This process took me 3 days.

1 pointHow would it handle as a M20B25 flywheel then, quite light / high revving? If thats the case I'd rather go for my m20b20 one as it looks to have a lot more meat on it, and i'm already running a getrag 240 with a 4.1 diff so 1st and 2nd are going to be f**ken short as it is. Plus the car is going to be daily'd, so I'd rather not have a super grabby clutch / flywheel setup that will suck dick during traffic

1 pointAt one stage, we got brand new Hella Halogens for a bit over $600 a pair. E39 halogens are seriously CRAP - my 70's VW Beetle has better lights. The xenons are much better (still quite average though). I'd not consider another set of halogens, if you ever drive at night! Pre facelift might be differnt??? You can replace the lenses easily on the prefacelift, and can get them with clear corners. They are on ebay etc.

1 pointIf I bought a set of Louis Vuitton luggage, the first thing I'd do is buy some fake Louis Vuitton badges and stick them on it.

1 pointI run 255 tyres on an 8.5 rim and they fit perfectly and look great. 255 is however about the maximum you should run on an 8.5" wheel. I did have the guards rolled.
