3 pointsEngine moved to my home garage, and fully re-assembled. Using the m30 in the 7 series as reference Made up some custom hoses out out of a mix of m20 and m30 factory hoses. Lots of cleaning of parts Picked up a single mass flywheel from an e28 from Brent, along with a matching PP and clutch. Had them all reconned by Auto Clutch. Clean m30 pattern g260 Going in In! Time for beersies. Issues with steering linkage clearance - going to have to do something with the manifold. Brake booster clearance problems too. VW brake booster for some more rooms Just barely VW brake booster painted and installed - much better. More to come

2 pointsBut I can get a "M5 Tuned" 545i "sports model" for $16k and that's a newer car! Based on that I'll offer you $12k Martin.

2 pointsI got caught like this a couple of years ago on a E39 528i. Some a**hole removed a thermostat and fitted a frost plug into the head where the flow direction part of the thermostat should seat, so that water would circulate correctly without thermostat control. I fitted a thermostat while doing cooling system repairs and ended up with the results you are getting. I only found it because the car was on a hoist and raised slightly and I saw it while removing and rechecking the thermostat. The cheap a**hole might have worked on your car as well sometime.... I have photos somewhere

1 pointG'day, Took the old girl today for a ride to the city and to watch the sunset. I have owned her for three months, and it's an absolute pleasure driving her. She does get a little extra attention, unfortunately.

1 pointHe was probably BS'd by some dodgy tuner or mechanic and isn't too clued up. I don't think someone would knowingly advertise such BS on Trademe...
-

1 point1st track day in my franken30! Was a blast! although a few problems came up which ill have to sort out. Most concerning is the temp gauge rising after 3-4 laps, Ill be looking at getting an alloy rad and an oil cooler before my next outing in march! Not so serious is the lack of traction out of corners, I foolishly stiffened my rear shocks before the track day and assumed the semi slicks would be enough... no no no. All about seat time now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L50apzukzpo (dont know how to embed)

1 pointMy apologies for asking a silly question but is that $300/$350 per wheel or for all fours?
-
1 pointwell, I could do. not so sure about the Uro crowd though. it's on H&R Sportsprings, so whilst it's still FWD and all, it's reasonably composed. If only I hadn't gone for those Yokohamas last time... I'd be tempted to sell it for a really tidy 00 or 01 740i, I reckon.

1 pointYeah check what it's like with suspension close to fully compressed as that's where it will be when you have your foot up it and the cvs will last longer the straighter you can keep them, especially with the extra torque
-
1 pointi love it when people offer "$xxx.... IN CASH" or "COLD HARD CASH IN HAND" lol.. how else are you gonna pay? warm soft cash? smh

1 pointI've got enough pre Christmas problem jobs ATM. The OP has probably introduced more faults now with the path he has followed. My thoughts would be along the lines of water in the DME being a E36 with all the parts the OP has already changed with no result and the reoccurring speed sensor faults. Fuel related issues would be throwing O2 sensor and fuel trim issues

1 point+1 for taking it to Glenn. Glenns professional scanner will be far more accurate and informative than yours, and he has decades of knowledge.
