Thanks for the feedback, its my CSI up for sale. Surprised by some of the comments about the rims. I really like them and they usually get rave feedback.. and they really are rare period correct rims! They are nice and wide which really complements the CSi's fat ass shape. I previously had Style 5 and Style 32's on it.. I've had this car for quite a while! PS: Here is is beside my 560SEC back in Ireland.

NSX and SEC are deecnt looking cars and great for their times but both have aged and show it. The CSI on the other hand still looks current, and other than the NSX its about the only one on that list that would turn almost every head it went past.

Conor has done really well on this following the 'do it once, do it right' mentality. Every single bushing has been replaced included the ones that are not commonly changed; Rear: Subframe bushings. Diff bushings. Inner upper control arm bushings. Inner and outer lower control arm bushings. Rear trailing arm bushings. Rear shock mount bushings. New ball joints on their way. New sway bar and sway bar bushings to come. Front: New control arms, lolipops and tie rod ends. Control arm bushings. New top mounts to come. New sway bar and sway bar bushings to come. Driveshaft was reconditioned. Subframe was sandblasted and powdercoated. Also new guibo, all new rubber spring pads, new brake hoses, new diff fluid, new gearbox fluid, new bolts and nylock nuts. Any scrapes under the car were sanded back and had new underbody sealant applied - luckily there was no rust or damage. Glenn would be proud Tomorrow we will sort out the brakes and exhaust and hopefully go for a test drive. Then when all the reinforcement plates arrive (rear shock mount plates, sway bar plates, subframe plates, rear trailing arm mount plates, front shock tower plates) they will get welded in and Conor will get one hell of a wheel alignment done.

When I did mine I air freighted it to France. I dismantled the Eiffel Tower to build a small frame to hold the engine instead of the engine stand. Took a few hours to put the tower back up though.

Aren't bold subjective statements why internet forums were invented?

Update 11/06/2016 After our long weekend last weekend we got lots more done.We really only have to put the brakes back together and get the exhaust back on. How ever i need a new handbrake cable as one of mine has broken.(Anyone have one in there parts bin? Be happy to buy if off you or replace it next week if needed. No parts places are open and really wanna get the car back on the road this weekend!) Note: Sorry for bad pics most of them are after everything was back in the car and its hard to show whats new etc. Here is the rear subframe with all the new bushings in and getting back into the car. Front all back together.... Something everyone should have if your wanting to redo all your bushings. Made the whole project a lot easier. How ever this is still a every time consuming project to under take. Well it was for me anyway

Imo the nsx is the prettiest out of that list. Also the best overall performance. If i won the daily keno i'd buy the csi though and restore it to as new. I'd say the lotto strike might be needed if it's blowing smoke on hard accel.

Just fitted a set of Style 193's to the E91 Touring. The original Style 194's were fine but wanted to go a bit bigger to 18s and these just finish off the nice factory look. So the style 194's will be up for sale if anyone is interested. Also I am looking for a spare one of these if anyone has one lying around. Either one front or one rear doesnt matter. Cheers

The plastic locating lugs inside the "new" knob are broken, from memory. It was glued in place when I got it. Could always get one of those super cool 3 foot long drift style knobs

And it has the bonus going for it that many people on the street wouldn't know what it was, and would be incredibly surprised to hear it was a BMW. The 8 after all is the only BMW produced in that sort of supercaresque shape, bar the M1.

Whats the worst that can happen? Its not far from an engine stand to the ground, and I assume you wont be lying under it while a troupe of gypsies dance on your engine? Your engine stand should have some kind of capacity on it somewhere, a bit of google will tell you what your engine weighs, the rest is simple math.

No still waiting on them to get here. Will be doing it next month or so. Also need time to get better at welding

Did you weld in the rear chassis to subframe plates?

E46 M3 are pretty cheap at the moment and i wouldnt pick they will go much lower if at all, so now would be the time to buy, also before they all have parts replaced with taiwan crap that will break again. find one thats been maintained with OEM parts and you will be away.

Lucky to get a golden ticket to the M festival at Hampton Downs today. Got to drive the M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, X5M and X6M......a few laps on the short new circuit, some gymkhana and braking exercise/comps and the 3 laps of the main circuit in each car. Soggy conditions but still given chance to give them their head. M2 a hoot and the engine a real sweet mill. M3 instantly felt special - my pick of the day. Wanted to like the M5 more but sound not as inspiring and a handful in the wet! Got the itch now........ Very lucky boy....

I have a European tuner if interested. Much superior to the Japanese. Especially outside Auckland Sent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk

Hi Greg If your car is a 2001 it should have a world wide tuner fitted already to the radio. Bmw fitted these from 2000 on so run the last seven digits of your vin through a decoder and it should explain all. If not just purchase a later model radio please do not fit an ex-pander they will only make things worse the e39 stock system is not to bad over all. As for the darting etc as others have said start with a set of good tyres an all wheel alignment by someone that knows what they are doing and go from their.

Yeah headers and a tune nets about that based on overseas results. The standards headers are the most restrictive part of the engine setup. They share the same part # as the m60 v8 headers I believe.

Woolf mufflers in Dominion Road Auckland used to have heaps of Remus mufflers. http://www.woolfmufflers.co.nz/ They know their onions. I have had Remus mufflers on 3.0r Subaru and on my current M5. Very nice....but not as loud as I would like!

Replaced the gearknob in Miss M's car with one received from Kopua Cowboy (thanks ever so much). Now looks like this: Getting the old one off was interesting. "Give a good tug" is the normal instruction, but I suspect that works best when they've not been fitted using insulation tape, black mastic, some sort of superglue... This is what I removed: The new knob does need something to stop it rotating, but it doesn't need that much stuff!

Ah canned laughter. Ruins shows for me. Shows like The Big Bang Theory use it way too much. Almost as if to say when we should laugh and what we should find funny. Many US light humor TV shows abuse it. Off to watch the 2nd episode now. Maybe the 3rd will be different as the article states they have been able to take on board all their critical feedback.
