From a skeptical buyers viewpoint, I'm always wary of things being sold with known faults, is it simply the owner doesn't have time, or do they know more they don't want to let on... So I'd bargain down accordingly. I don't think that's the case here, but expect the cost of fixing the issue would be recovered by a stronger sale price when issue free.

Bit of paint stripping with a wire disk on the drill, coat of primer and a few coats of aluminium colour to match the body colour.

I would be VERY wary of a car that old with so few KM on it. Has it been regularly serviced during that time? Whats the chance that if you try to put it into any sort of normal driving all the bits you normally replace over the years, fall to bits? Its a big fat nope from me, and thats even before i get to the low spec and high price.

I've seen this a few times. Jap import and garage queen. Both of which I dont understand. If your going to the expense of importing a car to put it in your garage and not drive you'd think you would buy a 740i that actually has some options in it. This one is the most base spec 740i I've EVER seen..lol Even with those K's it's not worth anything near that asking price.

There was an error with an order I made for the bearings. They sent me enough, if I had a 4cyl motor. Wellington had a couple of nice days over the weekend (rare!) so I thought I'd paint the block while I wait for more bearings. Any reason? Nope At first I didn't like it, but it's growing on me. For $20, why not. Next steps are obviously assembling the block, deciding what I'll do about a clutch and wiring the Link ECU to the 1.3 harness I have. The last part is a bit daunting, I've never been very confident working with electronics, but I'll figure it out, red to red, black to black, right? Someone is coming out to assess the land for a garage in the next week so hopefully the whole process won't take too long. Once that's done the B25 is coming out and I'll build the motor on a stand before dropping it (and the trans) in. Oh yeah, car is manual. forgot to mention that. I'll probably add to this over the next few days as I remember things and do stuff. Progress will probably be a bit slow to start with, but once the garage is built it will be a full time project

For sale M54 crank, Rods and Pistons for M54 B30. Nice way to stroke an M50 or M52 for more power and torque(Crank and pistons will drop into any 84mm bore M50 or 52, 325i, 328i 323i and five and seven series equivalents). Main and rod journals are good with no scoring, pistons still have some of the original anti friction coating on them. All in all very good condition. Car had done approx 125kms. $550

So I thought this is probably the best place for me to keep chucking up photos I take of my baby and keep my project thread for updates on whats happening with the car. I got out tonight with a mate and we managed to take some pics of the two e36's together, loving the fitment of the AC Schnitzers! This thread will probably keep on getting more added to it now that my car is good looking enough for me to justify taking pictures of it

Hey guys. I've found another project car, so up for sale is my beautiful E39 540i Msport on genuine BBS wheels. This car has an amazing history of maintenance and receipts totalling $25k+ Car has done 188,000kms, this will go up as its my daily. Major things that have been replaced/repaired are: - The tiptronic trans has been rebuilt - $5k receipt - Cooling system has been replaced - $2k receipt ** Timing chain tensioner has been replaced - this is an important one, not many E39's for sale out there that have had this taken care of. - Belts have been done within the past couple of years. It's very tidy inside and out and drives beautifully. The leather is in great condition. Has the factory head unit but has had after market speakers, amp and sub installed, sounds very good. All windows work, sunroof works perfectly and the rear pop up blind works great too. A previous owner has installed an oil catch can and deleted the rear muffler, the car sounds lovely with a few pops and crackles on decel, but not obnoxious. Things that I would look into if I were to keep the car are: - Very slow oil leak - I think this is coming from around where the oil catch can has been installed, if not it's probably a seal. The amount of oil is very little. 3.9k ONO. Test drives are welcome and encouraged. Car is located in Glenfield. --- Note: car will come on BBS wheels in the first image. Cheers.

Hi everyone, Unfortunately the time has come to sell my M3. I'd love to keep it but due to financial circumstances I've put it up for sale. -S50B32 321hp motor -Rebuilt Beisan Systems vanos (rattle kit + seals) -New valve cover gasket -Eibach coilovers and sway bars (certed) - BBS style 5 17x8 et20 wheels -2 x brand new Bridgestone Potenza RE003 tyres -New WOF -137xxx Miles not KMS (UK import) -Heated leather seats -6 speed manual transmission -Illuminated gear knob -Strut brace -LTW spoiler (original spoiler will come with the car) -New Sachs slave cylinder. Could go on and on with maintenance etc. Can provide receipts and a more comprehensive list of work for potential buyers. -The car currently has an issue where it does not rev up properly and perform as it should. I've been led to believe this is due to an O2 or Camshaft position sensor however I can't confirm this. - There's a half ping-pong ball sized dent in the rear below the right taillight (will add photos) as well as some minor rust in the front and rear guards. It's not a wof issue or anything however its worth mentioning and should be attended to in order to prevent it spreading. The car has just been sent in to a workshop to resolve the revving issue and also to get a new slave cylinder installed. The price listed is an AIWI price and I'm happy to negotiate with serious offers around my asking price. Price will go up once these are fixed. Overall there are a few things to be done but as you'll all know these are becoming increasingly difficult to get your hands on- Don't miss out! $14,000 ONO for bimmersport members.

Yeah I understand where you guys are coming from. Maybe I will have to hold out for a proper diagnosis before selling. cheers

Im not an expert and will prob look stupid later but my thoughts... For that power level don't worry about the orings. If you still wanna use the hx40 at least try and get a smaller exhaust housing for it, maybe crunchy has some suitable ones. I bought mine off a nz crowd online but forget who it was now.

Thanks! The brave new owner is indeed a member here - I'll leave it to him to pipe up - but I have every confidence the car is in the right hands, and I'm equally keen to see it come together.

I love M Parallels. Such a timeless, classic look. Great looking car.

I see yours around Auckland - Still looks in good nick. Front bumper mesh has been removed and some backyard-special splitter bolted on, and some stupid JDM tow hook hanging out the front, but aside from that it still looks and sounds in decent condition.

As above, a DIY of the timing chain guides would be good if you're doing yourself?

Nothing extreme, it was in one of my E30 325i's, manual. Long story short, wet day, put the car in second instead of fourth going around a corner and slid into the curb and buckled one of the wheels! Basically since then I've done all my test drives and most people get an inspection done prior to buying anyway. In regards to the sale, its already sold subject to finance and inspection from a guy in Hawkes Bay

Well , I'm a bit of a lucky boy. $200! I would have thought that was expensive a week ago. It's crack free but the vinyl is lifting in 2 ten cent piece sized areas in the passenger dash top recess. I could possibly make a hole in the foam at the back and ease some glue in there and press it down but it's barely noticable. I think I'm too scared to put it on now knowing they're so rare! Might have to wrap it up and put it on my future E30 that has more than 80kW. That's my E46 330i project in full swing in the background - don't worry about the oil filter housing getting dusty, it's scrap. Now, who wanted an E38 cup holder?

Lovely car, GLWS! Perhaps you should say test "rides" but I'm pretty certain I wouldn't by a car without driving it myself, you may need to reconsider that condition?

I think the S8 V10 sounds better than the M5 V10. Something to do with the firing order I believe. Every M5 V10 I've heard sounds a bit Honda like at low rpm, and too loud up top, purely subjective of course. But I think the Audi V10 hits a more soothing note thats cleaner throughout the rpm range.
